  1. Can you send me the link you watched because the one I watched they literally said the goal is to win the Stanley Cup.
  2. I don’t disagree with you. But the end of year presser has never been the time where the GM lays out what specific plans they have for the offseason.
  3. I don’t need him to become Gilmour. I was just trying to compare offensive junior players being cast in different pro roles. My thing was Krebs didn’t really have a defined role. Tell him “We want you to be our checker. Like Cirelli in TB. Give him a defined role and let him sink his teeth into it.
  4. So you think they will be worse next year? Even if they brought in nobody and kept the status quo they will be better next year and other teams will be worse. Younger players getting better. Levi here for a whole year. Both Adams And Granato spoke about the defensive system being a problem. That being addressed makes this team take another step. I just don’t get what you want. Adams standing up there with a flow chart with all the change they are looking at making. Pegula stood up when he bought the team and declared the mission was to win the Cup and make Buffalo hockey Heaven. Those words made no difference in anything.
  5. Doug Gilmour was a high end junior player. When he got to St. Louis they asked him to become a checker. After a few years he started to breakout as a real two way threat. When you take young players who are used to being offensive dynamos and cast them in different roles it takes time for them to adjust. The Sabres need to figure out what they want from Krebs. Do they want him to be a checker? Do they want him to be the 3rd line centre and play with some more offensive wingers? Tage and Cozens breaking out as the top 2 centres has changed up the dynamics for some of the other young guys. Mitts coming on down the stretch as a centre also plays into it. Then you have Savoie knocking on the door. I like Krebs as a young checking centre. But commit to it and give him the tools to succeed. Have Peca work with him on the details of the role.
  6. Nobody ducked it though. They said they are building to it by sticking to their process. They believe setting the team up for sustained success is the best way to win the Cup and that is the goal is to win the Cup. They said what you were hoping just maybe not the words you wanted them to use. I think everyone here is expecting playoffs next year. They are young and will be better next season.
  7. This is key. I mean if they snuck in this year and got spanked 4 straight by Boston without Tage and Muel being able to play would fans be placated because we broke the streak? I’m not happy not getting in but looking at the big picture we are setup to be good for a long time starting next season. I want deep runs. I don’t want to be the Leafs.
  8. Yep. Go back to the the behind the draft video. Terry is in the room during prospect interviews. Kevyn is at the draft table on the phone to Terry explaining to him the idea of trading back up for Kulich. How does any fan know how involved Terry is with the team? And let’s cut the guy a little slack this year. His wife is struggling through a very serious medical situation.
  9. I wish Adams said what he really thought of Johnson. He didn’t look too impressed with the whole situation while he tried to explain where everything stood.
  10. Longest build ever? Adams and Granato have been on the job for a couple years. Why do people have problems with this. The rebuild under Adams started two years ago. The garbage that went on before him isn’t on his head and isn’t added on to his rebuild. They have expectations. Next year is a playoff year. They missed by one game with a bad defensive system, bad pk and sub par goaltending for the majority of the season. All those young guys will be a year older and better. Depends which narrative individual posters are trying to push😁
  11. My biggest takeaway was both Granato and Adams admitting that team defence was a big problem this season. More then any player move they can make, shoring up the defensive structure is the biggest needle mover for next season.
  12. Do you expect Granato to pull out a list and say “These are the guys I want back, these are the guys I want gone and these are the specific players I want Adams to target” Granato’s job is to coach the players currently on the roster. He won’t give any hints on the offseason. Adams should be more interesting. He might not say a lot but the way he answers some of the questions might be telling.
  13. Yep. Gustafson was the biggest wildcard. I saw him get outplayed by Dell in an AHL playoff game last season and this year he ranked near the top in a lot of NHL goalie categories for the wild. There are only a couple goalies that can change a team’s fortune. Most goalies are subject to the defensive system the team plays. Until the Sabres tighten defensively it doesn’t matter which goalie is brought in. Seattle had the 3rd worst sv% in the league and they are up 1-0 on the defending champs. Sometimes things just aren’t black and white. Levi is going to be the guy. I agree they need a more vet starter to pair with him. UPL might develop but having 2 developing goalies at the same time is not a recipe for the playoffs. Comrie was left out to dry this year. I don’t dislike him but I’d like more of a proven commodity. Whoever that is, they will only be successful here when the Sabres get serious about playing in their own end.
  14. 10am was announced (as always, Subject to Change)
  15. I hope Kevyn pulls out a stack of printouts and starts calling out individual Sabrespace members for specific takes during the season. Really goes in on them. That would be an all time presser.😛😂
  16. Every top team has players that have to be paid. Having enough talent to be able to have to choose is a big positive. Sabres have young talent coming up too that will be high end low cost elc players. That is how the top teams do it.
  17. My Leafs buddies and I were just discussing this. Imagine paying those crazy playoff prices to go and sit and watch that 💩
  18. Oh sorry my bad. You aren’t wrong
  19. DONT call it a comeback! Here comes the Leafs!!!!! If Hedman is out for anytime that is a major development. TB’s d corps isn’t as good as years past.
  20. NJ getting worked by the Rangers. Does it? Did this season look anything like previous years. They have been building nicely under Adam’s regime. Next year is the start of hopefully a long window
  21. Yes, because if anything, the Leafs have a history of overcoming adversity in the playoffs😂 I live in Toronto. All my Leafs buddies are done already. This is Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown stuff. Every season they work themselves back up that it will be different. Every year it is Groundhog Day.
  22. 3-0. Leafs booed off the ice. Fans look devastated
  23. If they lose first round it’s over. Dubas contract is up he will be gone. Leeds will be gone. Matthews And Nylander will be on the last year of deals before UFA. Marner 2 years til UFA.
  24. So many first round playoff series
