I read a couple bloggers state that Levi was ineligible for the playoffs because he signed after the trade deadline. Some of you pointed out that that was incorrect. So I did the research and you guys were right. Levi can play in the playoffs. Here is what it says: “If the NHL team already have a player’s rights before the trade deadline, they’re eligible to play for them in the playoffs – even if they don’t sign their NHL deal until after the deadline. So if, say, a player signs an NHL contract after the deadline and then gets called up from junior, he’s able to play in the playoffs. College or junior free agents that sign after the trade deadline are not eligible, since the team wouldn’t have their rights before the trade deadline.” The confusion is between players drafted already and college or junior free agents being signed.

Levi was good again. Unfortunately if they make the playoffs, Levi can’t play. I would run Levi down the stretch. He is their goalie next year. What they do with the other goalie position is up to Adams. Losing this game hurts and people don’t want to hear it but it is part of the learning process. They were is a tough battle in April. They will be better for it.

Sad to hear. Michkov was already the biggest wildcard this draft because of his circumstance (contract). This might make things even murkier. You can’t really believe any news coming out of Russia. If I was Adams I would be flying Neuchev and Novikov over here today.

It’s not. Adams traded for Matt Murray but Murray nixed it. He tried for Gibson but he wouldn’t waive to come here. Comrie had the best statistical numbers of any of the ufa goalies last year.

Play Levi and don’t think twice about it. He is the best goalie currently and gives them the best chance to win. I’ve said it before, he is not the average young goalie. I really don’t think he spends a year in Rochester. He developed in college. He is so strong mentally and technically. I think he is a Sabre next year. Let’s see how he reacts to finish the season. First test he passed with flying colours and the reports sound like he is playing well in practice.

Yep and Brindamour wanted complete buy in on a very structured defensive system and that wasn’t Skinner’s game. Skinner has been great here. Even through the Krueger Hell years he didn’t mouth off and embarrass the team. He has been the scorer we all thought he was but this year his playmaking has really improved. Skinner-Tage-Tuch is the best line the Sabres have had in a long time.

And Adams holding out on the Eichel trade for Tuch was a great move. Tage and Skinner have been great the past 2 years but a lot of that can be attributed to adding Tuch to that line. Tuch has been everything and more that the Sabres could have asked for. Eichel for Tuch, Krebs, Greenway And Östlund is looking like it will be a franchise shaping deal. We can all nit pick at what Adams has done or not done but the hiring of Granato and trading Eichel and Reinhart in deals that look like they will really help the Sabres are his biggest positives.

I went With Levi and I like that idea of having Anderson as the backup. I want to see Levi down the stretch because I’m not 100% convinced that he needs Rochester. He is a different cat and seems to have the mental part of the game figured out which all goalies need time to figure out. He said he signed because he felt he was ready for the NHL now. Give him a run in pressure games and see how he handles it. If they can figure out if he is ready now then that sets them up this offseason to figure out the rest of the plan and whether UPL or Comrie can be a trade chip.

Reinhart for Levi and Kulich might be a franchise defining trade for Buffalo. And don’t forget Granato moving Tage to the middle and turning him into a superstar offensive centre for the Sabres.

I would be happiest to hear Levi is getting the start. Anderson plays well in Florida. Comrie has played well of late (excluding the Dallas debacle)and is in line for a start. UPL just had a 39 save win. 4 headed monster. Maybe Donny says screw it and goes early preseason game style: Levi gets the 1st Anderson the 2nd Comrie the 3rd UPL OT if necessary😛

Cozens is 2 goals from 30. Tuch is 5 from 40. How many 30 goal scorers do the Sabres have next year? Im going to say 5: Tage, Skinner, Tuch, Cozens And Quinn. Quinn is a natural scorer and looks about ready to explode. I expect a big jump from JJ but he is not the natural sniper Quinn is.

Greenway has 2 goals in his two games since returning from injury. From watching him in the past and watching him when he got here, something was not right. I’m convinced he was trying to play through something and gut it out. I don’t think he is in top shape to end the year. He is a guy I really want to see come to camp next year when he is healthy and see how he does under Donny. There is a lot to like in his game and if Donny can bring the best of it out like we have seen with so many other players then i think this will be a really good pickup longterm.

Against Tage’s brother. Could be heat in the locker room.😛 Peca and Weber in Rochester absolutely love Kozak. He was money in the summer and at the Prospects challenge. The hope is he turns into a mini Gaustad. Gritty 4th line centre that does all the defensive and dirty work and becomes a warrior-leader down the line. Sitting under the Peca learning tree will do wonders for him.

He is an interesting player this offseason. He is skilled, is going to put up 50 points, has adapted a more physical role along the boards and protecting pucks and does help out on the back check. He seems to be a big part of the group too. I can see a lot of teams looking at a 25 year old 50 point player who is playing 3rd line and thinking there can be more growth if we bring him in and put him in our top 6, especially on a reasonable contract. It will depend on the next wave of kids. If Rousek, Savoie And Kulich all push for spots next fall then Mitts might be the guy packaged for the right piece. I have no problem with Mitts. Wouldn’t mind keeping him but if a kid beats him for a spot and the right trade comes along I would move him.

1) We need to realize that as fans we are looking at 11 years without playoffs. Adams is looking at year 2 of a rebuild and he has a plan and is sticking to it. He tried for Chychrun, he brought in Greenway and Stillman. He wasn’t giving up our young studs. He got our goalie of the future signed. 2) As Granato pointed out, every team involved in this race has had brutal March’s. It is what has allowed Buffalo to stick around. Hopefully the Sabres are in the middle of a run here and sneak in.

I suspect Comrie tonight and Levi or Anderson in Florida Tuesday.
