  1. I’m disappointed none of them have tried to stick out by having Bedard ranked 5th and Michkov falling to the 4th round.😛
  2. The Bears have Carlsson on the blue line that could be an NHLer and McMichael up front that will be an NHLer. The rest of their team was basically journeymen AHL vets. Amerks have Rousek, Kulich, Rosen, Cederqvist, Kozak that should play and guys like Weissbach and Metsa who I think will earn chances. The Marlies won a Cup a couple years ago with a ridiculous payroll of AHL bets but it did nothing to help the Leafs as none of those guys were developing talent. This Amerks team will help the Sabres a lot in a couple years. And as you said, add Kisakov, Neuchev, Novikov, Johnson, Nadeau into the mix next season and you have a great pipeline to future Sabres success.
  3. No to Gibson.Let someone else pray he rediscovers himself. Ullmark is still the best option. Bruins fans are all resigned to the fact he has to be moved this offseason. 2 years at 5 million, career numbers around .915. Would be the perfect fit but everyone is all caught up that he left when the team was a tire fire. His acquisition cost would be less than Hellebuyck to and you get the extra year. If Adams goes Levi-UPL-Comrie then he is doing the entire organization a disservice. You want to ruin a potential franchise goalie, throw him in the deep end too quickly and have no backup plan. Get Levi a good vet mentor to help him along and develop to his full potential. There is too much smoke from insiders linking Hellebuyck to Buffalo to tell me that Adams is not interested in upgrading the goalie position.
  4. I loved when Kypreos and MacLean were on Sportsnet. Always interesting talk and great stories. For anyone who thinks GMs have all the power and make all the decisions, MacLean told a story once of when he was GM of the Blue Jackets. He was happy with his lineup and then the owner walked into his office and said “I need you to cut $10 million of the payroll by the end of the week. Don’t care who it is just get it done.” Had to move guys he didn’t want to and got crucified in the media and by the fanbase but he had no choice.
  5. Good run Amerks. A ton of growth for a lot of young players. Hat tip to the coaching staff for bringing these guys along. Impressed withMetsa again tonight. Hershey won the series and deserved it but that 90s Devils style of play is a disgrace to the game. Just unwatchable garbage.
  6. I guess it will all come down to how does Dubas view him. With Fenway and now Dubas in charge I don’t think any of the old Pens ties matter. I don’t see Botts, Karmanos or Ventura having any sort of inside track because they used to work for the old regime. I think the Leafs front office will have a better shot.
  7. Who would you consider a “wise” trade for 13th? Hellebuyck, Hanafin, I wouldn’t have a problem with either or a 2nd for Tanev. Just depends what else is added in addition to either pick. To me a big part of development is putting young guys in positions to succeed and grow. Having a goalie the quality of Hellebuyck here even if just for a year will help Levi’s development exponentially. I was reading about Jonas Gustafson in Minny. He was a young goalie who hadn’t had a lot of success. He went to the Wild and got around Fluery who showed him how to prepare and train and he ends up having a terrific season this year.
  8. If Kane came back good as old in January and signed a friendly one year deal with Buffalo for a playoff push the fans would be excited.
  9. Uh you now the difference between assistant GM and GM. If he accepted the GM role in Pittsburgh he would not want to be a yes man to all Dubas’ whims. Dubas is the defacto GM. He took the POHO so he has the power to make the decisions without a President overtop of him overriding his decisions.
  10. My guess is Brandon Pridham who worked with him with the Leafs and helped write the collective bargaining agreement. Throw Spezza in as an associate.
  11. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/patrick-kane-undergoes-hip-resurfacing-procedure-could-be-out-4-6-months/ But but but he said nothing was wrong with his hip before he was sent to the NYR.
  12. JBot won’t touch that setup. He will want his own say into what moves are made.
  13. I think he wants more of a yes man. Dubas didn’t like having to answer to Shanahan. He wants the power to make the decisions so he took the POHO role but he wants someone who just agrees with his ideas. I don’t think he could get away with putting Spezza in as GM but maybe someone like Pridham who was with him in Toronto.
  14. There has not been a single rumour that Saros is available. Hellebuyck will be, Ullmark might be. Andersen, Korpisalo, Raanta and the like as ufas are probably best options. Calgary want to move Vladar but he hasn’t done too much at the NHL level.
  15. I listened to the Hershey feed. That late penalty Hershey took on Jobst in which Mersch scored they were convinced that Jobst held the stick and they wouldn’t let it go the rest of the game
  16. No extension mentioned. I would make that deal if Michkov was off the board and they couldn’t move up to get him. NJ would be very interested. They have to figure out Meier first though. NJ With Hellebuyck would be contenders for sure.
  17. With Moore the electric skating and motor are right in their wheelhouse but the non elite hockey sense is not something they gravitate to.Would much rather see them grab Simashev or trade the pick for a great piece. I would be all for moving up to grab Michkov. You would probably have to get to the Flyers and #7. Sabres can afford to wait a few years for a potential superstar.
  18. https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2023/05/nhltr-mock-trade-jets-connor-hellebuyck.html I just threw up in my mouth🤢
  19. Might have been timing when viewing Tuch. He looked like Tuch when i saw him and was producing as normal. His brother, Luke, is an interesting case. He doesn’t have Alex’s offensive instincts but does have the Tuch size-skating combo. He was drafted by Montreal and has one more year of college left. The Tuchs sounds like they would enjoy playing together. Does he go back to college and then head to free agency? I would bet Adams would love to add another local kid to the team. He would be a good bottom 6 winger who uses his size on the boards and in front of the net.
  20. Normally they wouldn’t trade him but they are in a real bind with the bonus overages for Bergeron, Krejci and Swayman coming due adding more to their cap and Swayman is a RFA. They could look to move Swayman but that would be less cap being freed up.
  21. It has been put out there a couple times now. Boston are in a cap crunch and they like both Swayman and Bussi who they believe is ready to come up. Getting $5 million off the books would be huge for them. https://985thesportshub.com/listicle/bruins-know-theyre-staring-down-an-absolute-salary-cap-nightmare/
  22. On the other side JJ was in tears after the loss just like Kulich after the WJCs gold medal game. Love to see that they care that much.
