  1. I know you're being sarcastic but when i read this sentence i thought - ah yes, the era of playoff hockey... remember that?
  2. Fasching is 25 now with 3 points... another GMTM swing and a miss. Lehner and legwands expiring for a 1st. Bogosians huge contract. 3rd for vesey's rights. Pysyk for kulikov.
  3. My issue with trading 1 overall for a roster player - the team isn't 1 player away. Even with a healthy(ish?) jack to start the year, taylor hall, staal, etc. this was a below .500 team. After they fired Krueger, they were still a below .500 team. The team has huge holes at goalie, and depending what they get back in trades - center. Bloated contracts on the wings that they can't really get out of. It's also not a free agent destination. So turning over the roster almost has to happen through trades and drafting.
  4. I mean - put yourself in KA's shoes. You basically get one shot to reshape and one shot at a HC. Go to war with the guy you want.
  5. Buffalo's tried pretty much everything and it didn't work out. College coach - Rolston - Fail. Coach with history - Nolan - Fail Cup winning pedigree - bylsma - fail Former player assistant - housley - fail. Outside the box thinker/european - RK - fail I don't know that anyone should be ruled out because they fit a certain profile - because i feel like every single hire has failed regardless of pedigree.
  6. This is why i trust other peoples opinions more than my own. I don't watch nearly enough non-sabre/non-NHL games to form an opinion around prospects. You specifically remember another 3rd round pick (from several years ago) that you wish Buffalo should've taken. Is Farrance good?
  7. He was like unwilling to trade people. Does Laaksonen look like a player? Feels like we waited like a year too long to trade montour.
  8. We can always move other players - but that is a lot of lefties on defense Dahlin, Bryson, Samuelsson, Johnson, and Power. 3 of those are 21 and under so you almost would have to move someone. Do we anticipate johnson coming to buffalo this year?
  9. Only a sabre deals in absolutes...
  10. While he might end up playing in 2021-2022, I don't think his impact is going to be tremendous to drive a team through the playoffs or something. If there's no long term effects, its meaningless as he's only 18.
  11. Who are the miller and biron in this situation?
  12. Is cap room even an issue at this point? Okposo also had 10 points in his last 15 games after getting off the eakin black hole line - before matt irwin blasted a slapper off his face.
  13. Straight up? It'd be a bad trade. There's no term on those goalies.
  14. I don't think you're getting a top 5 prospect in the NHL. I think its likely - a top 5 prospect on the team, a roster center, a 1st round pick or two, and probably another roster player to make dollars work for a year.
  15. Right - if it doesn't work out, I have final say on where I go if/when the team decides to try and move you. Parise and suter both signed for 13 years and I think part of it was wanting to play for a hometown team (parise is from minnesota, and suter from wisconsin). Boston will probably have to give them to Pastrnak and Bergeron on a new deal though. Same with Rask if they end up keeping him on. McAvoy will also probably have one that triggers a couple of years into his deal assuming they buy out some UFA years on his next deal.
  16. I can't complain about forcing his way to boston, he was absolutely entitled to do so. I was more generally annoyed with his disinterest, and lack of effort for the entirety of the deal. It didn't feel like it was any different approaching the deadline either, he was content to just skate. I don't want to see him succeed for that reason, but also because I hate the Bruins. My ideal scenario here is they get to the cup and lose again so i can see marchand crying sad tears again, with hall crying next to him.
  17. Yeah, and they'd be wise to trade him before then.
  18. Rieder was also... not great. He had a few goals early when no one could score. But Moving Okposo off of that line and he immediately started putting up points. Addition by subtraction as far as eakin and rieder. Whoever they put there will probably be better.
  19. I'd think you only get one of boldy/rossi. Dumba has a M-NTC so thats up in the air. Fiala probably wouldn't be made available. Soucy might be interesting, but thats another LHD. I dunno - they have the pieces to make it work, they just have to do it before the expansion draft.
  20. Could always dock them some picks too. I think it'd be highly unlikely though - I think Minnesota leads the league with 5, and they have 0 other NTCs.
  21. I actually ate a burger for lunch. I made some big mac sauce to go with it and honestly it tasted pretty good.
  22. Kings deal would be challenging - you almost have to get Quick in the deal (unless they're willing to part with their captain). Because I'm taking on basically dead money - I'd want 1 of byfield/turcotte, and 1 of vilardi/Kaliyev. Which is probably asking a lot - but they'd still likely have centers of Eichel, Kopitar, Byfield for the forseeable future. Get out of 2 years and almost 12 million owed quick. They'd need help at winger but thats a lot easier to fill with all stars and potential all stars down the middle. Buffalo would walk away with at least another center coming back - and flexibility on what to do with reinhart and how to fill out lines. They also get a goalie - albeit a bad one.
  23. I always figured they aren't trading kakko and Lafreniere. So i'd have it drawn up as: Strome (replacement center for 1 year and to help dollars), Chytil (middle 6 winger), Miller (top level prospect), and picks. I'd try and get Georgiev in the deal as well since we have 0 goaltending.
  24. If we're going to trade everyone, whats Guy Boucher doing? Maybe he can drag this roster to the playoffs playing a boring trap game.
  25. Well... I assume wed get some players back in any of those trades simply because teams are going to struggle to absorb large cap hits without sending players back.
