  1. There just isn't that level of accountability with the sabres as a team like the Bills. I feel like there were incidents with partying and the Bills, poyer's drama, zay jones incident. And it seems like the player almost felt like they let down their team.
  2. Sure, you are absolutely right. It becomes a problem when it affects your performance on the job.
  3. I tend to agree with you LGR4GM - Reinhart and Eichel both came in right around the same time as these two guys who are notorious partyers. O'reilly had a noted DUI. Lehner wrote an entire article about how he was drinking on game days.
  4. Of course. Just sharing a rumor i heard - I don't know anything myself and its totally unsubstantiated. I do think that the young core of this team has or had a partying issue. Making one of that core the captain probably didn't help much either.
  5. I'll never understand the quinn pick tbh. I didn't see rossi as like this dominant player, but dinging players for size isn't it either. Hopefully they saw something special and thats why they went with Quinn. But it sounds like I would prefer the Rossi type of player.
  6. I think in this climate it allowed him to say no to the bruins offer and take buffalos knowing if it doesnt work out, i can still make it happen with boston and get my pay day. He was also traded last season and had no say, so i think he was thinking if I'm getting moved this time I want a say.
  7. I think the challenge scouting hockey is that - they're all so young. The desire for greatness, the want to be faster, stronger, how to overcome adversity - how do you scout that? Give me the player with that desire, not the kid whos the fastest or with the best shot. I love watching diggs offseason training regimen - its weird stuff - but its all designed to get faster out of his breaks, improve his balance, and improve his general ability to play the position even the slightest bit. I want players who want to improve their weakest attributes, and generally want to be great. I don't expect this sabres draft pick to have an impact next season - but i want them to be a player who truly has that competitive spirit and desire to be great.
  8. My guess would be same injury. A position that requires a ton of flexibility is always going to be a challenge coming back from any soft tissue injury. Time to get that kid a pilates coach or something.
  9. How any rumor starts - heard it from someone who claims to know a player. Most of my friends who have interacted with players at some level don't have a lot of great things to say though. More interested in partying than anything else.
  10. Marchand was trying to get under his skin all game and he was composed. I thought he played great. Even when he messed up he wasn't panicked.
  11. Eakins just a turnover machine. There is no direction to his game either, he just seems content to constantly pass it around behind the net. Either his own or the opponents when he happens to touch the puck in the offensive zone. He never drives the net, and he never drives passes to the net. If he was a big hitter, or could shoot maybe there would be some purpose out there, but right now its like 15 minutes that could be better spent by other players. I guess he's good at draws?
  12. I think I read it on Twitter but they said it best. The quote from moneyball "if he's a good hitter, why doesn't he hit good?" applies to me at least. If Hall is such a good player, why doesn't he play good?
  13. I want a left winger who moves his feet coming out of the zone. But i guess we can't all get what we want.
  14. I think once the dust settled a lot of folks on the board were a bit concerned about where it slotted people. Olofsson with cozens and staal never gelled. They tried like 3 different wingers with jack and hall before they decided on reinhart- and then moved hall off for olofsson. It was not a good fit, it messed with other fits throughout the roster, and essentially nudged skinner into a bottom 6 role, with players that weren't suited to playing with him. It was a big swing/big move, and it was a big whiff. What they ended up getting for their money was a terrible season, and a 2nd round pick.
  15. Right. Between that there was the high salary that limits suitors, his poor play this year (and honestly prior - 29 goals across the last 3 seasons), and the fact that he's a skill winger that doesn't take draws, or kill penalties - all these things limited his value. I mean he has 19 points playing with jack for most of the time, and playing on a power play that for a stretch was one of the better ones in the league.
  16. Easy to say that as an analyst. Do whats best for the team and organization, not your ego.
  17. 2.25 mil cap hit, and he has 10 goals this year. Hall had 3 assists in the 13 games leading up to the deadline fwiw (before sitting for injury prevention) - and has 2 goals this year.
  18. Imagine if skinner just pulls some greasy cheap shot... This is for taking my rightful position on jack's wing!
  19. Boston gets a free trial for contract negotiations too - hopefully he does well so they lock him up. Cuz from what i saw, he's not the impact player on the ice that he believes he is.
  20. Yeah - Foligno is more of a complete forward. He can take draws, hit, play a 200 foot game, kill penalties etc. He also has more goals than hall this year.
