  1. He can just be the extra skater too. They might move some of those guys too.
  2. Jason Pominville was the only Sabre named to the All-Star Game roster.[8] Luke Adam was one of 12 rookies selected to participate in the All-Star Skills Competition.[9] He did not make the all star team.
  3. I'm not giving them anything to take anyone. Just pick a guy, most are flawed in some capacity so do your worst.
  4. Borgen also being 24, with 14 games and 0 points... doesn't exactly scream major loss to a team. I liked what i saw from him, but to say that losing him would be this major organizational setback is absurd. Teams are going to lose players who are in some cases are close to all-stars, and we're worried about a guy who probably doesn't suit up for 20 teams in the league. We will lose a player, none of the available ones are that good, and a couple are overpaid.
  5. Right - his issues are not going to be worked out in a gym. Learning to play without the puck is the hardest part of that nhl transition. You can't skate around everyone, and his constant falling all around tells me he's trying to do way too much. The game happens fast - shorten the passes, don't hold the puck too much, and fore/back check like a mad man. At least become a useful bottom 6 winger who can chip in some goals with a nice shot.
  6. I voted for Okposo at something... he really did play a lot better under granato once he was off the eakin line. For next year i picked skinner - he has a shot to play a lot better with some linemates who can actually contribute offensively. He needs to put on some LBs and simplify his game. He's not 6'7 lemieux - be a 6'7 hockey player. Get to dirty areas, be a net front presence and play sound in your own end.
  7. 1 - Just probably not here unfortunately 2 - Probably right, but if you want one on the roster next year - keep that guy 3 - I could see it - he needs to get more physical and work on his hands as a net front presence. 4 - Tough to project but Tuchs the one whos not like - ascending anymore so i can get behind it. 5 - I hope you are right.
  8. They have to eat money - thats a given. I would think 1 top prospect, 1 young NHL player, 1 cap dump, and assorted picks. Depending on the level of the first 2 you could argue 2 firsts. From the rangers maybe Miller, Chytil, Strome/zibanejad, and their 2021 first? I'd see about them throwing in Georgiev too. Now i get it - there isn't like... a kaako or Lafreniere stud in there - but you get a 1C for a year (or to get more at the deadline), a middle 6 forward, a 6-5 young defenseman who looked solid in his age 20 season (more of a known commodity than a power at this point). If you can pull Georgiev even better since this team desperately needs a goalie.
  9. Especially when you give them players to... take other good players. We'll give you Reilly smith if you take marchessault was... not a great trade looking back. Tuch to take Haula. Same with the Clarkson contract to take Karlsson. Theodore to take Stoner.... When you look at what you can get for 1 season (or deadline deal) for risto... is it worth packaging anything to make sure they take miller? That is probably similar to the compensation you can get back in a risto deal.
  10. But if you trade risto pre-expansion then ur looking at teams who need a better 3rd d to protect. Or they have a deal in place with seattle, or a better player available. Pittsburgh maybe... or Vancouver?
  11. It's widely considered one of the worst contracts in hockey. I don't think anyone is picking that up without significant additional compensation coming along with it.
  12. They also traded hall, staal, and montour and none of them won anything. Bogo went to the best team in the league, and Hasek went to a loaded wings team that loaded up once they acquired him.
  13. yeah... thats a fair statement. Depends on FA and Sam honestly. But for now it'd be him or Ruotsolainen i guess.
  14. Best shot on the team, and can be made less of a liability with fewer 5x5 minutes on a 3rd or 4th energy style line. If he's not on the top 6, and playing less than the defensive line - his production of like 15-20 PP points and 10-20 ES points doesn't look bad. The team needs a real net front presence and someone to play along the wall where eichel lived to create a solid PP1 unit. Honestly to me its the same reason you just play okposo and send eakin down. There is no buyout need since there is no inherent need for cap space. If you get down to the wire and need a bit of space you can free it up, but i'm not doing it just to do it. Really depends what salary comes back in any of these trades too.
  15. Yeah - cap space isn't that useful when you have no players to sign/extend. Skinner's contract will suck more when you're trying to extend the young players on long term deals... and that is along the timeline of when you can probably buy him out if you need cap space.
  16. For a while there i thought it was just poor usage. Tons of PK time, tons of time against other teams top lines. But when they paired him with Bryson last year he just looked bad, no matter who he was playing against.
  17. I mean... that's probably the buffalo timeline if they dump their best 2 players.
  18. I felt the same way. However there's a few things that are important to note I think they used what, 4 different goalies across that time period? They did this after moving - Hall, Staal, Montour, Lazar. This was with Eichel on the shelf. McCabe was gone. Okposo played pretty well under DG and got hurt. Sam was playing great under him, so I wonder if he considers sticking around for a bit. That was a really injured, inexperienced, bad team playing mostly competitive hockey.
  19. So did Reinhart. Hell - so did Okposo 😆
  20. Kinda did the same with Jerry Richardson and the carolina panthers.
  21. I know buffalo tried to find that stay at home guy a few different times with kulikov and gorges, they just work out. Injuries, skating, fit - none of it worked. I think Buffalo had a guy like that in McCabe - but risto is just too inconsistent to be paired there. You don't need like, a skater like dahlin next to him but you need someone who can make accurate breakout passes and quick decisions. Risto isn't particularly good at either. Gone are the days of the tallinder/lydman pairing.
