  1. I will go to the games. On the radio, they have been on WGR and WWKB. John Gurtler is a better lacrosse announcer than hockey announcer.
  2. At the very least, you would send Bjork to the minors and resign Hinostroza. We would have to add quite a bit to get Fiala.
  3. I apologise if I misread you intentions. I assumed that you wanted more thought and analysis than merely who are now the top players from that draft. I assumed that since you asked about the draft explicitly, then we should include opinions on the state of the teams when they drafted and how they were developed. Those players were not drafted in a vacuum and did not become who they are independent of their circumstances. Is Aho as good if he had been drafted by Arizona? How much better would Eichel be had Buffalo passed on him? So, "whose career development gets damaged if Buffalo or Arizona had drafted him" is one of the natural questions to ask before I think about a redraft. Example: I often got questions about what would have happened if the Sabres had drafted Keith Tkachuk instead of Brad May. I always responded, "then you would have asked me why the Sabres took Keith Tkachuk instead of Brad May just now." The idea was that the one who hadn't been drafted by Buffalo was, ipso facto, going to be the better player because the Sabres' player development was so lackluster.
  4. IMHO, given the acquisitions we had prior to 2015-6, the question is really, "which excellent player from the top of that class would have been ruined instead of Eichel had the Sabres taken him?" I think the player chemistry and coaching were *that* bad.
  5. If I were a player, I look at the Sabres' record starting with the first win in Toronto and would think, "we got mediocre to average goaltending and went 16-9-3 in that gauntlet. We have a real shot at the playoffs next year if we average or better goaltending." Thus, GMKA needs to be much more serious about upgrading the goalkeeping this offseason even if it is just to tide us over until out prospects emerge.
  6. You all missed the point: @Mustache of God is saying that the Sabres are winning the Cup, so they will have pick 32 of the first round. If that happens, he won't care.
  7. I wonder how much the first couple of rounds have taken out of the team.
  8. Is that better than anyone else the Sabres have had starting with the COVID season?
  9. Even we who are oriented towards numbers know enough to not slavishly follow the numbers.
  10. What is the schedule for round 3?
  11. I was there -- and I find it hard to believe they were the same game!
  12. Actually, I like that. It takes the guesswork out of whether or not "well" goes there.
  13. This is what I think eventually happens.
  14. The Buffalo suburb of Amherst. Many of the supermarkets which got the threats yesterday are near UB, where a lot of international students, immigrants, and children of immigrants shop. I really need this game to be on tonight while I do some cleaning.
  15. The Walmart across the street from me was one of those stores which was on that mass-murder's list, so it got a direct threat yesterday. I am going to be really glad this game is on.
  16. Welcome to the board!
  17. I am afraid that we will be stuck in this time loop for some years.
  18. I used to watch every televised game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. About the same time that I got "male over 50 disease," I found that the late games were too late for me.
  19. Ted Darling used to call them "deciding games."
  20. Should be. 2006 -- Game 1 versus Philadelphia and Game 6 versus Carolina.
  21. I don't think it is appropriate to put personal e-mails and texts into a public forum. And I don't know how to copy URLs into a textbox on my phone. Maybe I should just lay off commenting about Twitter-based hot takes.
  22. Your last paragraph may sound ridiculous to younger fans, but you are absolutely correct. A lot of the growth of hockey in the Sun Belt is because Wayne turned LA into a real hockey market. Anaheim does not exist without him, for instance. Phoenix, Dallas, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Florida might not even exist had he not been traded to LA.
  23. Are the Leafs stupid enough to let him go?
  24. The easy clicks for journalists making the deceptive and facile conclusion to pin this exclusively on Jack are getting out of hand. As if my opinion of most of them can go much lower... No wonder we are so damned skeptical of the "information" they put out.
