So this is a ¾ NHL ¼ AHL lineup tonight. The results hopefully indicate that.

So unfortunate about Bailey. When we drafted him, I really wanted him to turn into a John Leclair/Keith Tkachuk type. I wonder if he’ll go to Europe and try to scratch out a living, or just hang em up. Does he have a degree in anything?

I think there’s zero chance Sheary, Sobotka, Ullmark, Okposo, Thompson and Mitts get sent to Roch. So, to me, this isn’t a “bubble team” tonight or at risk of getting sent to Roch if they have a bad game or two for those players.

This question was asked before I believe. I forgot what the answer was, but maybe you should just call the Sabres store tomorrow morning around 10am and ask them. Get it right from their lips.

Winning heals a lot of things when it comes to sports. IF Risto stays, and IF the Sabres look real good this season and squeak into the playoffs, it may change Risto’s desire to leave. That’s of course assuming Risto doesn’t get traded all season. I think JB will move him. All it takes is one dumb GM to overpay, or a long term key injury (or break (Buff)) to have a GM desperate to make a move.

I’ve seen that movie quite often. And not just the Sabres, and not just hockey. Not smart. But often necessary.

Agree on the “experts” comment. I’ve noticed inconsistency (depending on who posts it), with what copy and paste jobs some posters do. I’ve seen posters copy and paste multi paragraphs right from Athletic and other sites and no one says a thing. And other posters do the same thing, and it’s deleted or they are scolded for doing so. Either allow it all or don’t allow any of it. It’s confusing. Maybe just don’t say where “you” got the info from ?‍♂️

Cozens won’t be making the team this season. This is preseason. You’ll see different combos every game. Some lines will change mid-game. I’m reading nothing into these daily preseason changes. Hell, the lines you see today may not even be what you see in tomorrow’s game.

Everyone can have a different opinion but please for God’s sake let’s not have yet another Sabres player vs. player pissing contest. It’s tired. Skinner excels in places Reinhart doesn’t. And Reinhart excels in places Skinner doesn’t. I’m glad they are different like that.

Cozens is not ready for NHL 2nd line center duties. Don’t let preseason games against mostly AHLers fool your eyes. Mitts is a different type of discussion. I’m not saying Mitts is quite ready either. But he’s just not going to Roch. at this point. He’s here, he’s staying (unless traded), he’ll be developing on an NHL team.

I have a better question... how do you feel about them?

I’m so grateful that I’m not wired to be worried about developing 18 thru 22 year olds. Regardless of draft position. I’ve seen it too many times where some kids take several years to develop. And some take much less. And some plateau where and when you didn’t expect it. It just doesn’t phase me to get myself in a tizzy. I especially take nothing from preseason games. Good or bad ?‍♂️

It depends what kind of personality you have. Are you one to look into things and try to find hidden reasons and agendas? Or are you one to take things at face value and don’t like assuming. Those guys are either trade bait, Or JB wants to see more young guys on the ice these first two games. who knows what the real reason is...

I think Mitts needs to develop. Just like it took (and taking) Reinhart years to develop. Just like it took VO. Just like it took (and taking) Ullmark. Just like it took McCabe. I’m not in the least worried about Mitts. He’ll get there.
