  1. I think KA has done a good job overall. But sometimes I think (fear) he sees it more important to get an average Dman at below average value than getting a legitimate top-4 Dman at slightly above value cost. Getting that roster hole filled is so critical for the next few years that I wouldn't worry about a slight overpay to fill it.
  2. There was an article in The Athletic recently about the goalie market, team needs, etc. Below is an excerpt that caught my attention because I have believed since the past season this applies to the Sabres' situation. There are big names that will be available on the trade market and some high-leverage decisions that could make or break contenders’ playoff chances next season. Surrounding those big storylines is the question of whether teams’ game theory for addressing goaltending needs could evolve with the way Vegas won its Cup, which has shined a spotlight on how much a team’s defensive play can influence a goalie’s success or failure.
  3. Yikes! VO on Carolina would be the hockey version of that old kids game "Which one of these is not like the others?" RBA would never buy into VO on his roster, IMHO.
  4. Even better if there are TWO dumb GM’s interested. 😉
  5. Our #1 and #2 centers compared to a winger’s contract. Nice!
  6. Damn filters. Starts with a V and rhymes with Regina. (A Sienfeld episode, no?)
  7. Aka ‘the ***** Channel’
  8. If I remember correctly, wasn't that what was said about Mule at the same stage? So there's hope. Can these be traits be enhanced by dedicated training?
  9. Bob v. Canes in this series: .978 SV%. 🔥🏆
  10. Interesting article in The Athletic this morning. Tim Graham interviewed Jamie Obletz, president of DN. Ron Raccuia, COO of the Bills, did not participate in the article. Short version ... the former was lamenting the emotional loss of the Bills stadium contract and the financial loss to the community because of all the dollars DN injected directly and indirectly. Pro tip for Mr. Obletz. Being a local company should have been a huge competitive advantage. But if your product and/or service is sub-standard, none of that other stuff matters. I've read plenty here and elsewhere from dissatisfied customers. And I've experienced it first hand in a very limited number of 'opportunities' over the years. Obletz also mentioned that DN planned to engage local restaurants in the concession line-up at the new Bills Stadium. How many years from now is that? Why did it wait? DN has numerous concession contracts throughout the US. Mr. Obletz can allow himself one more day to 'grieve' but on Monday morning he should be pulling his staff together to figure out what went wrong with the Bills deal and how to make sure it doesn't happen elsewhere. I'm curious about something else and thus a question for ST holders of either the Bills or Sabres. Has Delaware North ever reached out to you directly for feedback about its product and services? Or only tangentially via the teams?
  11. You are correct. Oak Hill is in Pittsford but it can’t absorb the number of people that will most likely be there. ROC will be busier than normal I assume.
  12. How great will that be to have the Marlies and the Rock vanquished by WNY teams in the same week with the Leafs getting the boot, too?
  13. Just a heads up for you guys planning to go in for the game Wednesday. The PGA Championship is at Oak Hill this week. Restaurants may be quite busy.
  14. And there you have it. All these years of futility perfectly encapsulated in one single graphic.
  15. Crazy, innit?
  16. On the Rosen clip ... put a Sabres sweater with #71 on it and he looks like a carbon copy on that PP goal. Right down to holstering his stick afterward.
  17. I was wondering about the Leafs D last night. How many of those guys are ‘home grown’? Did they simply trade for an entire D corps?
  18. Agree. Casey is a top-6 forward. Get CM on Cozens' wing along with Quinn and he'll be a regular 60 point player and be the perfect complement skill-wise to the other two. And provide a solid option to step into the center slot if needed. For me, I'm using other assets to acquire a (badly needed) 4D. And lots of other parts are available for a third line.
  19. We have a top line that potted nearly 120 goals this year. Why do we want to start screwing with that? There is enough talent on this roster beyond those guys that ‘balancing the scoring’ is unnecessary, if not foolish. BTW, would Tage, Tuch, Skinner be the highest scoring line in the NHL this year? Or would that be McDavid and two traffic cones?
  20. Refreshing that DG will have ample skill to assemble lines. I believe the Sabres will have 3 very potent lines soon, regardless of Granato’s mixing and matching of personnel. Just a matter of how quickly Savoie and Kulich can get up to speed.
  21. Was in Baldwinsville visiting the in- laws (hometown of #89) and got to watch the game on the ‘real’ MSG feed. If there was ever a night this year to not have the post game cut off by ESPN+, this was it. Lots of great stuff. As an added bonus, I didn’t have to suffer through the New Amsterdam Vodka commercials 20 (or more) times. Not exaggerating. Separately, if this was KO’s last home game with the Sabres, it got no play on the broadcast (missed the first period). Interesting.
  22. Yes. Like on the wing with Cozens and Quinn. It could well be a 70 goal line.
  23. This thread is reminding me of the former (?) NY Jets owner with the ultimate redundant name: Woody Johnson
  24. Given the dearth of D prospects in their pipeline, I don't think the Sabres should be overly picky.
  25. Thanks guys. Why did they have to make this so complicated? Regardless, here’s hoping he makes the Sabres out of camp and stays in Buffalo for the duration. Even if he is playing on the wing initially.
