I suspect a lot of owners are fine with break even on operations. The are making their big money on the increased value of the asset over time, ie Golisano style. Owning a franchise checks the diversification box too. Rich get richer which helps to drive up the value. And no doubt if I was rich with billions I would definitely buy the Sabres, live w/ b/e, and meddle just for fun.

And if Stall is showing his age. I feel like on the whole the fanbase's expectations are too high for him. I mean they took Johansson straight up. J is a nice player but was borderline top 6. Seems to me that means Staal is borderline top 6 now as well, but brings us leadership. J brings them upside and its a win/win re culture change objectives.

Guy's shot is on par with Ovechkin's and he seems to be pretty smart about finding space for it. I think he has big value, like a proven #1 goalie (that's not overpaid) or top 4 d, plus a high pick or two. Don't want to see it though.

Tough one. If not limited to skaters - RJ. If limited to skaters it's Lindy Ruff but I never saw him play, instead his coaching during the playoff runs. The passion and desire to win and attitude just awesome.

I was gonna say Bogo, he looked like by far the weakest link on TB yesterday. And paired w/ Hedman I think. Also Tyler Myers getting criticized in Vancouver, maybe healthy scratch. Not all roses. Overall it's great hockey is back and loving the all-day March madness action. These athletes are incredible, love watching them play.
