Mule, Cozens and Power have the same problem. There is no incentive for them to play hard. The money is guaranteed. If they can show improvement at the end of the agreements, there will be another contract waiting. Get rid of them all. -

1000%. Canโt understand the hate on this guy. His speed allowed him a free rush. No chance of being contested. -

What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?
Broken Ankles replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
The type of player the Sabres NEED is one who will be overvalued at the deadline. If moves are made, itโs likely b/c Greenway/Zucker are not signed and the offers are too much to pass up. If Iโm Zucker agent the price is close to unreasonable. Why not. Doeโs Clifton hold value? Heโs been a healthy scratch. He has another year and would be good to move him off the books if they are going in a different direction on D next year. Seems like you could eke out some value now. -

What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?
Broken Ankles replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Brick (Bruins broadcaster) made a comment last night about the 13 year drought and attributed a lot of it to the lack of leadership and Vets to play alongside the kids. Develop properly. The blue line specifically has been way, way, way too young. And has been for all of Adams time here. In GAโs defense, doubling down on a third Left handed puck moving defender under 23 is just bonkers. You can take your pick which one has to go but they need to move on from one. Power provides a bigger reward, bc as you astutely noted, Power has been tainted by the franchise. The flashes of greatness, raw talent, and size makes him sought after. And he also has contract certainty. -

Speaking of hands of stone. The man who I originally called Manos de piedra, Zemgus has 49 games played this season for TB. Having about the same ATOI as in Buffalo, he has 52 shots and zero goals. He saw what Dylan is trying to do in the 716 and said hold my beer. Cozens actually has an 8.5% shooting percentage, so while not nearly where he was two years ago, itโs right where he was in 21 & 23. Itโs who he is. -

There is an argument to be made about keeping a Veteran like Zucker to ensure the locker room doesnโt regress further (if thatโs possible). But I agree Zucker could be a nice chip and would have to consider. Hopefully we donโt see a JBot/Scandella move and the return is shite. What is Greenways value? A 4th? Injury prone yeah? -
If the Sabres organization was even remotely competent, the path of Borgen would be how they treated Samuelsson. Maybe slightly elevated with the pedigree/draft order. Slower development, followed by a 2 year bridge. Maybe Mules could have been $1.5m instead of $900k. Then a three year extension walking him to UFA around $2.8m. Mule would be in the first year of that today instead of his current deal where he has 5 more at a higher AAV than Borgen. Adams autobiography- Negotiations with Fear.

GdT Sabres in Vanc: Jan 21/25. Like 10 tn; you figure it out
Broken Ankles replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
The Vancouver broadcast team (Ferraro) highlighted two of the Sabres goals first starting with a poor defensive play by the Canucks causing an icing, then the Sabres winning the draw in the offensive zone. One was the Dahlin pass to Kulich for the one timer. The other was Tages wrister. The Sabres also had key wins in the D zone during the third period. Some face offs are more important than others. -

Me after watching the Sabres get owned by Seattle, then on a back-to-back beat a better team. -
Fun fact. Natalie Schaefer was 64 years old when Gilliganโs Island premiered in โ64. Jim Backus was only 51. How many 51 one year old millionaires (Billionaires in 2025 dollars) are married to a senior citizen? More probable than not a 2025 Thurston Howell III has a child bride younger than Mary Ann. Iโm older than Jim circa 1964 and it just crushes my ego, bc like you, I thought those two were ancient. No comment on the game itself, other than 3-6 in their last nine. They are who we thought there were.

It goes back to 2018, where the AFC championship game has been 5 teams each represented by superlative QBโing. Brady, Mahomes, Allen, Jackson and Burrows. Cincinnati snuck in to one superbowl when Burrows and Chase were on rookie deals. The NFC Championship game has seen some of the same teams represent multiple times (Philly, San Fran, and Green Bay) but 10 different teams have played in the game since 2018. Twice as many. Very good, but not elite QBโs.
