  1. I'm going to go further back and say he could be our new Bill Hajt. often unnoticed, often overlooked, but solid, stable and dependable game in game out. Exactly what a successful team needs.
  2. This is the illusion I'm afraid is happening with management. This team is not that good. Yes, there is a youthful energy that Granato has unleashed but there are so many weaknesses and so many mistakes still and key positions are big question marks (like goaltending). We still have the worst contract in hockey on this team (Skinner) and we are a long way from being a playoff team. What we're seeing now is like the 4th quarter of a football game where your team is down something like 36-7, the opposition goes into prevent, you get a few turnovers and score a bunch of late points but still lose 36-33 and everybody thinks it was close. It's not.
  3. That's my feeling too. Not sure if he's the guy you want to commit to as #1, especially with the frequent injuries. Maybe there's a deal to be made with Florida? They have too many goalies. Adams needs to get creative if the free agents out there don't want to be Sabres.
  4. ? I don't think this is true. maybe a rumour, but I don't remember ever reading or hearing this anywhere. Not that he'd come here anyway. He's near the end so not sure he's even worth considering.
  5. Rask doesn't want the money so no chance. He will either sign with the Bruins or a top contender if the Bruins don't want to pay him or he will just retire. Grubauer or Mrazek are my choices if possible. Dubnyk and Ullmark as second choices. Ideally, we sign 2 goalies as UPL is not ready. So a starter to a 4-5 year deal and a back up to a 1-2 year deal. Maybe Bernier or Reimer for that if the money's right.
  6. See, I told you we could win this one. Damn near a callosal fold though, lol. Nice to win, I bet it bugs Hall a lot 🙂 We finished our chances better than they did in a sloppy sloppy game where some of the older Bruins looked beat. UPL is NOT ready. Good for him to get a win in his first game, but lots of bad goals. He needs a lot more AHL. Somebody please teach Thompson that his wrister from outside the slot might have worked in junior but it's cherry picking for NHL goaltenders. Drive the net you dumb ..................... Use the size. He frustrates me. But whatever, at least we beat them once!
  7. I'm not really questioning this, because it does often feel like we are not conditioned well and the soft nature of the team as a whole seems to lead to guys getting hurt a lot but do the stats actually bear this out? Do we, year in and year out, have more injuries than most teams?
  8. This is the one we have a chance to win. Slim, but a chance. Bruins will be over confident. Bruins are old. Young legs and energy can come at them fast and if we can score early we have a chance. UPL has to, of course, surprise for that possibility, but why not?
  9. Zemgus and him probably drink vodka together, but ya, I think he was just talking about the losing streak.
  10. He looked like a high school math nerd being bullied. Actually looked scared. Sad that nobody else got involved. We were never in this game. They are so much stronger on the puck . Tokarski was not good. We might have already burned him out. Thompson is back to being a useless giraffe. I'm going to exaggerate here for the sake of the example, but this guy wants to be or thinks he can be Connor McDavid and has to learn to be Tom Wilson. Until he gets that mindset into his head he's not going to be anything. Borgen was okay. Caggiula slightly more noticeable but still a non factor. Overall this is what it was, a bunch of kids in over their heads, hesitating, disorganized, and afraid or uncertain. Either way, tentative and timid. Our only hope tomorrow is they take us lightly and UPL dazzles in a surprise. Hall didn't score, but he's using his body more and he does seem to fit in as a Bruin, with their style, far better than he did here. Can't stand that whole thing.
  11. Much ado about very little. A hernia for a young athlete is a minor thing and he should be fully recovered and 100%. Whether or not he's any good is another discussion. Too soon to to tell.
  12. Probably. I've wanted to see the Bryson Borgen combo . I think I'd probably have mixed the 2 more D guys with the 2 more O guys (so Dahlin with Risto) but I do like the idea of trying to develop pairings rather than mixing and matching all the time. It's been a sore spot with me for a few years now. As for UPL, you never know. Swayman surprised the Bruins so UPL might surprise us. Is he actually ready though? Very unlikely.
  13. Ya, that's pretty much my view. I don't think he's ready but with the situation Adams left the team in Tokharski can't play 3 games in 4 nights so they give him a look. It shouldn't ruin him. Hopefully he gains more perspective and works harder.
  14. Ya, I don't need another reason to be optimistic about this guy. I'm confident he's future captain/leadership material and will have a solid NHL career. I just hope we can build a playoff team that will give him the chance to really shine in the post season. I am confident Cozens will be one of those guys that excels in big games.
  15. Finally somebody to fill the hole left by Vlad.
  16. That's pretty good. I imagine that's an exception, but then again they didn't win in the end.
  17. I don't know. I'm just wondering out of curiosity. Are there stats for that available somewhere?
  18. Whose the third? Cause neither of those two can play D.
  19. An interesting stat might be has a team that sucks at face offs, and I'm not talking about just losing them 49%-51% or something, but a team bad at faceoffs ever gone far in the playoffs?
  20. Not necessarily. Maybe he was just bored. or maybe Adams said "come to the game, I will show you the guys I've been talking about and you can see for yourself what I mean" and the gist of what that conversation could be about good or bad is myriad in possibility.
  21. Could be this season if we lose every Bruins game.
  22. You said the most, so to that I say $6 and if he wants a NMC it's $5. Anything over $6 is too much and I'd trade him.
  23. That's not necessarily wrong but you have to hope they can score as many or more to counter that. What's the alternative with Skinner? You can't wish him away. We're stuck with him, so you have to try to get something out of him. You want to just bury him on the fourth line like Kreuger did? imo Skinner's best chance to succeed with this roster is to pair him with Reinhart.
  24. Do you watch at all? Countless face expressions on the bench and in interviews after games. Not worth going over. If you think Eichel leads well and doesn't pout you're delusional.
  25. 1. Solid goaltending with big save potential. 2. Top ranked specialty teams. 3. A balanced roster that can adapt to different game plans faced. So speed and skill but also grit when needed. 4. Depth. Especially extra competent defensemen. 5. A team concept that everybody buys in to combined with a coach who can make quick adjustments, match ups etc. Sabres currently have none of these.
