Looking at the next 4 games and the goalie situation...if the Sabres are mathematically eliminated by Monday. Comrie in NY Levi in NJ Anderson home against Ott Levi in Columbus

So a couple of game notes... Stillman and Boosh pretty much benched for most of the third after being on the ice for the last two Carolina goals. Jost only played 5:57 and was a -2...ouch Quinn and JJP also -2 and only played a little over 10 minutes.

I would like to see a competitive game and how we match up against one of the best. If it does turn sour, I would like to see Dahlin, Cozens, Tuch, Greenway, Stillman, or even Krebs address the Kotkiniemi sucker punch on Dahlin from the November4th game. Dahlin missed time and the Sabres went on the 8 game losing streak. To me that changed the season.

They are different type of players who will both be good. Dahlin is like Erik Karlsson while OP will be more like Hedman. OP needs to play a little more physical on the boards and in front of the net on defense, and work his shot. Dahlin has improved his defense, but still needs to have a little more awareness of who is around him. So imagine if you had a 25-30 year old Hedman and Karlssonon on the same team. We have that in Dahlin and OP.

Although there will be several goalies who would add more experience and probably make the Sabres better, does it fit into the plan for the Sabres and KA. UFA goalies- Hill, Varlamov, Korpisalo, Raanta, Jarry, F. Anderson, Talbot, Reimer, and Jones I believe the Sabres want a tandem of Levi and UPL for years 2024-2028. The plan going into this year was Comrie and Anderson the NHL with UPL the main starter and Subban backing up in AHL. Then for 23-24 year it was to be Comrie with UPL backing up in NHL with Levi getting the majority of the starts in AHL. So with injuries, the plan got messed up and UPL spent majority of season in NHL. Although neither Comrie or UPL took control as a number 1, some of the deficiencies are because of the porous defense in front of our goalies, (Anderson and even now Levi have seen it happen to them in games). So as reluctant as I am to say it, unless Levi just blows their mind the rest of this year and in training camp, he will spend next year in the AHL with Comrie and UPL splitting time in Buffalo. (I don't see KA moving Comrie only after an injury plagued year. That would not look good for signing future UFA's). If Levi is in Buffalo next year I think you could see a 3 headed monster again. I don't think KA moves UPL, because then what does he do when Comrie becomes a UFA after next season. So even though the best option for next year would get a guy like Hart and let Levi the be the backup for a year or two, not sure that is what KA is thinking. Fix defense and you may solve a lot of your goalie problems. Dahlin, Mule, OP are the only untouchables. Everyone else can be replaced. Plenty of UFA d options- Graves, Cliffton, Soucy, Gudas, Orlov, Schenn, Severson, Mikkola, Mayfield, and Gavrikov.

So Detroit doesn't have a penalty since the scrum after Joker's goal. Seems I have seen at least 3 penalties that have not been called.

Can we replace Boosh with Schenn for the next 2 years?

Casey has a missed shot total of 38; 27 wide, 4 over, with 6 posts and 1 crossbar. He does only have 115 shots on goal. Compare that to Tage who has a missed shot total of 104; 75 wide, 14 over, with 14 posts (leads the league), and 1 crossbar. He has 269 shots on goal. So simply put. If Casey would shoot twice as much he would be a 20 goal scorer.

Just to make next week even more interesting the Sabres continue this hot streak and smash the Flyers 6-3. Quinn, Jost, Tuch, Dahlin, Mitts, and Krebs with goals.

Lots of d options this summer that would improve the team. Joker needs to be moved down to 3rd pairing or just moved in trade. Bryson can be sent down to AHL or waived. Clague should be down in AHL and used in emergency call ups. Stillman should be 7th defenseman. Trade options: Murphy from Chicago- trade them Rosen and a 2nd (to play with Power) UFA options: RD- Mayfield, Gudas, Severson, Cliffton, Schenn (to play with Power) LD- Graves (to play with Dahlin and move Mule down) LD- Gavrikov, Soucy, Mikkola (to play with Boosh on 3rd pair) Getting one of the above should be a requirement, getting two would put you in playoff consideration.

Good shot, can't blame Anderson. BS call on Skinner. Then Flyers cross check Buffalo player before Dahlin takes whack from Risto, no penalty called on either. Lemieux hits Boosh after whistle and Boosh just stands there. What does it take for the Sabres to ever respond? If KA doesn't get another power forward and physical defenseman this off-season, next year will be another long year as well.

I showed my wife and kids and they actually watched for a few minutes and said the action was easier to follow because it had the names.

So when is the league going start penalizing goalies for knocking the net off. Murray does it every game!!
