Where ya been since 1979 or so? They really haven't changed much over the years.

ROR!

OKPOSO!

Anyone else watching the game on NHL Network? They are tapping into the Rogers broadcast with the Edmonton crew. Color guy is Louis DeBrusk, who was known to throw 'em back in the day. Haven't thought about him in a long time!

The Risto/Gorges and Kulikov/Franson pairings make me want Bylsma to be fired a little more than normal.

It's the alcohol. That would kind of be like showing up at the Battle of Gettysburg with a battalion of M1 Abrams MBTs.

This is how I see it too. Eichel is going to be an elite player, the type who would be a regular on the Canadian national team if he was Canadian (not easily done)....but he is not on the "greatest of all time" short list. McDavid is about to get on that list, some time this year. The gap between McDavid and Eichel is going to grow wider and wider, as good a player as Eichel is.

The team isn't particularly good right now, and we needed to fire on all cylinders this year to have a sniff at the playoff picture. The injury situation is probably just enough to dig a big hole we won't be able to climb out of. On top of that, Bylsma is a horrible coach and mis-manages his players and games. He is consistently out-coached. He's not going to survive the season. Other than that, yes, the doomsday picture is hilarious!

Yesterday Mike Schopp asked Tim Murray if he thought about trading Kane in the off-season. Rather than respond by indicating that he believed in Kane, supports him, and he is just going through a tough time...or something a GM probably should say, he responded by basically saying "No, because right now his trade value is low and if you make a trade you do it to improve the team." Murray is honest and direct to a fault and would make a horrible poker player. If he could have dumped Kane's ass for fair value, he would be gone by now. He won't be a piece in the organization's future if/when we start getting really good.

This is 100% on the money. Kane is a "goal scorer" who can't finish to save his ass and doesn't particularly have a knack for scoring goals. He's a better, more flashy version of Max Afinogenov. Lots of sparkle, little in the way of effective offensive production. That's why he got away from the Jets. If Kane was the guy everyone thought he might be, he would have stayed with that organization for most or all of his career. One of Murray's big misses so far. People need to focus on what he actually does on the ice, not a misconception about who he is based on reputation, draft selection number, flukey past performance, etc. Right now this team has a core of quality players named Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly, and Risto. That's it. We need more pieces. Honorable mentions go to McCabe, Okposo, Larsson, Fasching, and Zemgus. Ennis looks used up and done to me. Zemgus is horribly mis-managed by Bylsma and really quite ineffective as a result. Too early to really know McCabe and Fasching's true value. Larsson is a nice piece, but supporting cast only. Foligno is replaceable. Kane and Bogo are both misses. Kulikov is the shiny new piece who really isn't that good. The majority of the D core is horrible. Lehner? Book remains out on him; not worth the draft pick given up. Another big miss by Murray. We need to expand the core. But I digress.

I couldn't care less what Kane does in his free time. It's his hockey playing that I find offensive. Would love to see him traded, but as GMTM said today on air, live, his trade value is low right now. LOL. (and not b/c of the injury; that was before that; it's b/c of his off-ice antics). Keep in mind it was his left shoulder that has already been surgically re-constructed. That's the side that hit the boards. Have no idea if it was a shoulder. Looked like a hip/broken rib maybe? Won't matter anyway; with Bylsma's scheme and no defense, we are going to be horrible this year.

What is the over/under on when Bylsma is fired? He's not going to last the season. I'll say Game 40.

If it really is a high ankle sprain, it won't be right and it will bother him all year long.

Looks like the knee to me.

He was a defensive nightmare and showed no interest in working on that aspect of his game. He worked himself into a tight spot in Vancouver and then did the same here. Also, way too slow for the NHL game. Just goes to show a really top junior prospect may be worth nothing at the NHL level. That was Cody.

I'm looking forward to it even if it is pre-season. Will be keeping an eye on Orioles game as well come 8pm. Love post-season baseball.

thanks!

Did Lehner start according to plan? I guess he got shelled?

7-1? What the hell have I been missing? :bag:

Russia playing like crap and probably pretty happy the score is 1-0. EDIT: LOL Make that 1-1!

Watched the debut of "The Night Of" on HBO Sunday night. I was hooked and can't wait for episode 2. Also have Bron/Broen Season 1 ready to roll and will be watching soon. I greatly enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane up until it jumped the shark toward the end. Surprisingly good movie. Just finished watching "Die Brücke" (The Bridge) and really enjoyed that too. Also just found out "The Mighty Eighth" is supposed to air, finally, next year on HBO. This is going to be their 3rd "Band of Brothers" type miniseries focusing on the air war over Europe in WWII. Can't wait for that one.

Do you ever see NHL players wearing glasses on ice?
Kruppstahl replied to ...'s topic in The Aud Club
Players have worn contacts for years. I recall Lindy Ruff losing one (as a player) many years ago; he and others were on their knees behind the net looking for the thing after the whistle! -
Patrick Roy was one of the most insane, passionate, emotional goalies of all time...or players. It's what made him great. I personally can't wait for Lehner to go full viking this year. You know he's dying to rip his goalie mask off, put the horned helmet on, and then watch out. It's going to be hide the women and children time. I think the consensus is that just about everyone in Sabre nation, from Murray to the fans, is expecting a playoff berth this season. We are not done improving the team yet, and we are already better than last year.

Not a huge fan of the player, but the cap hit isn't too bad and the K is front loaded. Can back out of the deal down the road when his play drops off. I'm more excited that we were able to land a big FA fish despite a lot of competition. Maybe Buffalo is slowly turning into a hockey destination for everyone, even big names.
