  1. I'll be taking a glance at Sabrespace here and there to see if a decision is made. May not even check until this evening. Mainly doing this out of curiosity. Would like it if he signed w/ Buffalo, but couldn't care less if he didn't.
  2. It applies to normal people as well. A person at 5'8 has to have a faster turnover to maintain an 8 minute pace than a person at 6'3. And of course the person at 6'3 will need to keep the stride to the length needed to hit each mile in 8 minutes.
  3. Entirely untrue. In distance running there is a major height variation. It's other factors that come into play. It is more important to be lean w/out an excessive amount of muscle to weigh or slow you down. Shorter runners will have to have a higher turnover rate throughout the race. Taller runners will have to have a longer stride, but remember it takes energy to keep that stride long. Just like it takes energy for a shorter runner to maintain a higher turnover rate. Because one is tall does not mean they have an advantage over a shorter runner. In the closing portion of a race, runners will begin their "kick" depending not on their height, but simple muscle twitch and endurance. Everyone is different. Keenness Bekele holds the WR in the 5000 w/ a 12:37. He's only 5'6. Previous WR holder, Haile Gebrselassie, is 5'5. Bob Kennedy, one of only 7 men not from Africa to go sub 13:00 in the 5k, stands at 6'0. As a coach in cross country and track, I've had short kids run the same times as tall kids in distance events. As I said earlier, in distance running there is a major height variation.
  4. And by Friday this thread will be titled "Vesey's rights traded to Sabres for 3rd-Round Pick (#76) - Signs w/ ______" Reports, rumors and what not will be coming from anyone in NHL media. It'll be entertaining reading the reports, and of course taking a look at message boards for teams he's spoke w/ will be very interesting. Just took a look at teams supposedly on his short list on HF Boards. Sure enough he's one of the main topics being discussed. People are split on each board on whether or not Vesey will sign w/ their team. Others have even expressed their hopes he doesn't sign w/ their team due to Vesey ditching the Predators. Hmmm.... sounds a lot like our message board. And let me add I mean what I just mentioned as a positive remark. Sabrespace is the place to be for Sabres hockey talk.
  5. Talk about exaggerating. We don't know what other teams may have offered. We don't know if other teams even made an offer. But above and beyond? Not even close. GMTM did not trade a 1st or 2nd for his rights. No reason to get upset about it. Dang, Vesey learned of the trade a period of time after the trade went down and he was also very surprised by it. His plans have to been to wait for August 15th. Why change them if x amount of teams are wanting him on their team? From what I can recall, the Sabres never made a "pitch" for Brad Richards. Buffalo knew his a max deal. They stayed clear of the guy. I honestly don't see how Vesey is being "rude about it." He's testing the market just like Richards. A resume is a resume. He put up numbers at Harvard, was a Hobey Baker winner and apparently many GM's have WATCHED him play. And that's what matters most. If GM's feel he is a high potential top 6 forward Vesey, he has a resume. Why shouldn't he use it?
  6. Why Buffalo? GMTM had 4 3rd round picks to use. Why not take a gamble? There was not la ong term expectation Vesey would be a Sabre. Predator fans thought he'd be playing for Nashville in the playoffs as a top 6 forward. Vesey's decision to not sign w/ the Predators came from left field. A shocker so to speak. There's no reason for Sabres fans to have a strong sense of dislike for the guy. If Vesey signs w/ the Sabrs, great. If not, who cares? There was no high, long term expectation he would.
  7. Still aways off, but how many here plan on buying NHL 17? Maybe we can get some type of league or team set up.
  8. Damn you guys are old. J/k
  9. Coaching. Simply awesome at any level. I coach cross country and track for a living. Beyond enjoy it. Any other coaches here on Sabre Space? Doesn't matter if you're a paid coach or a volunteer. The goal(s) are the same. It's all about the kids. Helping them reach their full potential, finding a sport they enjoy, teaching the importance of having a strong work ethic, but most importantly making it a lot of fun for them.
  10. And very dangerous. Every time I do it I tell myself I'm not doing that again. But there are times where I don't want to wait until 7 p.m. or later to run. So I simply suck it up. Not a smart decision to make.
  11. In the Buffalo area right now visiting family. Gotta say this. Running in the summer is SO much easier up here than it is in the south. Main reason is the humidity. That's the killer. Going to miss the lower temps/humidity when this vacation is over.
  12. When Chicago played the Blues, weren't a couple of their defensemen out w/ injuries or playing w/ an injury?
  13. So Vesey's short list is Buffalo, Boston, Toronto and Chicago. Can't picture another team being on that list, but I am just a fan. Vesey will have his highest chance of individual success in Chicago if can earn a spot on their 2nd line. Helps set up his 2nd contract.
  14. Gotta go w/ this board. More reliable, daily updates. Also more entertaining.
  15. Walking Dead season 7 trailer released. Looks good.
  16. Took two seconds to figure the amount of Sabres on the list and which ones would be on it. That was the simple part. Rankings were ok. It's all opinion. A few need to be switched around. Fun, interesting article to read.
  17. A 3 hour version will be available when released on DVD. Hopefully it improves the movie.
  18. 2 people walked off a cliff in California while playing Pokemon Go. Other accidents have also occurred. A guy even hit a tree while driving his car! He was playing the game while driving. The idea of the game is awesome. But after hearing reports of people crossing highways to catch a monster or whatever they're called is crazy. That is how a teenage girl got hit by a car. For people w/ common sense I think the game is great idea. But for those that don't think before they act should find a different game to play.
  19. Not everyone can do well in some type of public it review. Some guy named Terry is terrible at.
  20. Weren't Toews and Kane's contracts around that when they were re-signed after becoming RFA's?
  21. Think the thread is going to be over 43 pages.
  22. Damn that was some awesome stuff!
  23. For Nashville it did.
  24. Nashville isn't in the northeast. They didn't satisfy his list.
