  1. VS The most important game of the season IMO because it will answer if we are sellers at the deadline or possibly buyers. Sabres come in with a 3 game winning streak but Ottawa has been a pain this year and has come up with some upsets including beating Dallas in their last game and the Sabres in their last meeting 5-2. Can the Sabres win a big game or be our heartbreaker again?? Can Dahlin take sole possession of 2nd place all time in points?? Can Jack continue his awesome season, can Skinner finally break his non goal scoring streak?? We'll find out tonight Sabre fans. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW Tonight’s game is the first in a seven-game stretch during which the Sabres will play six road games. The lone home game will take place on Feb. 23 vs. Winnipeg. The Sabres have gone 11-5-3 in their last 19 games against the Senators. Jack Eichel has recorded 24 points (10+14) in 16 career games against the Senators, including eight points (3+5) in seven road games. The 24 points represent his highest total against any NHL opponent and his 1.5 points per game against the Senators ties his scoring rate against the Vegas Golden Knights for his personal best. Sam Reinhart has totaled 17 points (7+10) in his last 17 meetings with the Senators. Colin Miller has recorded five points (1+4) in his last four games against Ottawa. Zemgus Girgensons has posted a point in both of Buffalo’s last two meetings with the Senators (1+1). Sam Reinhart has recorded 17 points (9+8) in 18 games since the beginning of January. His nine goals during that stretch tied for 15th-most in the league entering play Monday. LETS GO BUFFALO
  2. Ok but it didn't sound that way earlier but I've been reading you wrong today so who knows
  3. Could be but Sheary and Vesey are playing as well right now as they have all year
  4. You think 99.9% of NHL defensemen look more explosive than he does?? Am I reading you right?? Besides Jack he's the best skater on the team IMO.
  5. Despite all the gloom and doom concerning our forwards, I think the Sabres are still counting on Cozens, Casey and Tage to be contributors down the road, besides picking up a UFA this offseason or something to good to be true becomes available, I don't think the Sabres are going to do much of anything and if they continue to go on a little run here, they may not be selling much this trade season either. I'm going to continue my optimistic view and say we aren't that far from contending again even if it isn't this year. In fact with better goalkeeping we may already be a playoff team this year IMO.
  6. They're just east coast Polacks. 5-2-1 in their last 8, healthiest they've been in months, Jack is on pace to crack the top 10 all time Sabres season point leaders and if he picks up the pace slightly he'll reach the top 3, Dahlin is now tied for 2nd all time for points scored by a teenage defenseman, 4 of their past 5 victories have come against teams fighting for a playoff spot, Florida and Montreal are fading, we are 8 points behind the Loafs with a game in hand and they're about to face the Penguins in a back to back. I don't understand why so many on this site are so depressed with this season. Hutton is coming back around (even I didn't see this coming) and looks like a NHL goalkeeper again. Games are important again and I'm looking forward to them again. Get a grip people, we're actually in a playoff race and we're playing meaningful games again. We just dominated the Loafs, who cares who was in the building besides @Taro T, he led us to victory, as for the Loafs playing a back to back scenario excuse, so did Ottawa and they beat Dallas today. LETS GO BUFFALO
  7. To answer these in my best attempt at a whiny biotch voice, "meow, I'd rather go skating and brush my mane a thousand times than watch a Sabres-Leafs game, meow" LETS GO BUFFALO
  8. Sabres are on an 85 point pace which realistically is where most predicted they'd be. They are 4-2-1 in their last 7 games and 3 of those wins are against teams with better records at the moment. Eichel is on an 103 point pace. If Hutton plays they are as healthy as they've been since the beginning of the season. It's as meaningful a game especially against the Leafs this late in the season as this team has had in quite sometime. Playoffs are realistically a dream but the teams right above them, Canadians, Panthers and the Leafs, only the Leafs are playing well right now. 3rd place is probably their best hope as opposed to a wild card slot. With a point Dahlin will tie Ray Bourque for 2nd all time in points scored for a teenage defenseman. If you can't get up for this game, why are you here??? LETS GO BUFFALO
  9. Hopefully he won't have any long term issues breathing the fumes in there for so long.
  10. He was gone after this season ended anyways, nothing to see here as far as I'm concerned. Allows him to find a team that will give him a chance and/or a playoff slot.
  11. Goldylocks is a closer, who woulda guessed?? They did j ust beat the bruins
  12. I agree with you but lets check Reino's career in 7 years at similar ages (Marchand is 31, Samson 24) and see where they rank. 7 by 7 seems like a good contract extension to me.
  13. LETS GO BUFFALOsers
  14. I'm retired, what's a Monday??
  15. Duane-itis permeating thru Sabre fandom, I personally find the guy a whiny @ss biotch but whatever. He IMO is what's wrong with social media and the media in general, he and his kind should just take some anti-depressants and get over it.
  16. I didn't mean to insinuate that you were, I just thought it amusing that Brawndo and who appears to be Brawndo Jr. posted similar tweets. As for the flu, I find it amusing that so many athletes apparently catch it, don't they take measures like the flu shot to keep from getting it?? Or can that be the reason it lasts only one day. Actually it's when you don't finish your allotment or don't take it as prescribed, that it can become resistant not by taking too much.
  17. Since Ullmark's injury, in 2+ games for Hutton, he has a .949 save percentage and a 1.45 GAA. The Sabres discounting empty net goals have given up 12 goals in their last 7 games, a 1.71 GPG average and are 4-3 in those said games. Defense and Goaltending has not been their problem these past few games.
  18. If you're going to deal with Anaheim for a tank, go freaking big, Gibson and Henrique for Risto, Bogosian, Asplund, Hutton and this our #1 this and next year. This gets us a #2C and our GKr problem is solved. They get an immediate replacement for Henrique, Risto and 2 #1's. Hutton assures a tank.
  19. An old favorite by different artists:
  20. This always was curious to me, why if you led a life of following the 10 commandments are any other rules of whatever religion you may follow would God send you to hell for eating meat on Fridays or having pepperoni on your pizza or eating bacon and eggs in the morning. No offense to anyone in particular but I think sometimes man puts some stupid rules on us and blames God for it. I mean this all encompassing being who loves us so much would send us to everlasting hell for a ham and cheese sandwich??? On another note and I'm truly sorry for family and friends of Kobe and other famous people but why would people openly weep who didn't know him and he didn't know you because he died in whatever manner. Just not picking on Kobe fans but John Lennon fans, Michael Jackson fans whomever. They wouldn't give a hoot if you died why would you care if they died besides the empathy factor for their friends and family?? Don't get it, don't understand it, does it have something to do with some flaw in the human condition??
  21. Just arrived back home and decided to jot down some observations on the trip. Most disappointing was missing Mr. Doohickie, really was trying to catch up with him but with the horrible driving in weather we had, having a hard time finding the hotel because of same, having to find something to eat prior to game and then Uber-ing into the arena, I just couldn't find the time to meet up with him. All my fault and was looking forward to this. First time Uber-ing and I'll do it again, nothing but good experiences with it although in Dallas the street they had as a pickup spot at the arena was changed recently to Nowitzki street and us not knowing this made it a nightmare to find. Sabres totally outplayed the Stars. All the goals were scored on our end of the arena except the Dahlin goal but we had the perfect angle on the shot. Someone mentioned in the GDT that they thought Ullmark was out of position. From my take on it was he came out of the goal to take away the angle on the shot from the point but it made the perfect bank shot off the wall unto Benn's stick and Linus had no chance on the goal. Besides that this was the best I've seen the Sabres team defense play in my trips to Dallas. First win for me there also. Turning point of the game IMO, Bogosian taking a hit behind the goal, at that point of the game Dallas was taking it to the Sabres and were really being physical with them. Historically that usually meant we were going to back down and get completely taken out of the game and the Dallas crowd was really getting into it. Bogosian then single handedly put several hits on the Stars including dominating someone into our goal and this then sparked the team and completely quieted the crowd. The Sabres shortly thereafter took over the game IMO. Getting tickets to the Stars game was easy as pie and we had great seats and the Dallas arena takes drink orders so you don't have to leave your seats to get a beverage. You also may be surprised how many Sabre fans were at both arenas. Never ceases to amaze me how many ex WNY people attend the games in their Sabre gear. Saw a ton of the new 50th anniversary jerseys being worn also. they do look sweeeeeet. Bills fans travel well in Houston also Getting tickets to the Nashville arena was a nightmare. They'll cancel your ticket order by your billing zip code on your credit card and they had this game pegged as part of a 6 game ticket package so getting around all of this although doable took hours to accomplish. Having said that about Nashville, the city is amazing, obviously a booming area, reminded me of Houston 40 years ago with a high percentage of young people in the populace and a very adult tourist business. Not much that I could find for the grandkids but the bar and music scene was 2nd to none in cities that I've visited. The Broadway area and the Gulch were awesome. I thought the Sabres played well in both games, if I was disappointed in anyone it was Pilut, plays well in space but loses every battle where he needs to get physical. Most positive impression was Jokiharju, the kid is much better than my impression of him was. Jack E was the most talented player on the ice in both games. Nothing short of wow, seeing him handle the puck in person and even the opposing crowd was impressed with this guy. A no doubt elite player. Elite speed, puck handling and skating. He was worth the price of admission. If there was one guy who lost the Nashville game for us, it wasn't Bogosian it was Pekka Rinne. I thought Ullmark played very well in both games but Rinne saved the game for the Predators. He deserved the 1st star of the game. Reading some of the posts earlier IMO the Bogosian hate is out of hand, not a great player if he ever was one but the hate for this guy is out of hand, buy yourselves another tv because the game you're watching isn't the same as the two I just saw. We gave up 3 total goals to two quality western conference teams on the road and we're blaming the defenseman, just let it go you're ruining what should be a happy life I'm not necessarily a Girgensons fan but you have to hand it to him he gives you total effort when he's on the ice. Frolik doesn't wow you but he IMO gives the Sabres a smart veteran presence on the ice, he and Johansson will pair up nicely with Skinner when he comes back. Labatts Blue in Nashville?? Just for proof...... Gotta love this place if just for that.
