Although I think the team will be better and should get better as the season progresses especially if the GT's hold up but continuity, not playing is such a long time and the chemistry that needs to happen is all conjecture at this point. There's not one forward line that's the same as last year and who'll play with whom is still open. I just don't see them being able to jump the more established teams unless the injury bug falls in our favor. With an aging lineup on the Bruins, Caps and Penguins that is an opportunity that presents itself, otherwise no way. And I'm as big a homer as anyone

As for TB, that's a temporary fix, they'll have the same issues soon enough and Kucherov being out is a huge loss especially if Stamkos doesn't become Stamkos again.

Well it could all mean that maybe that isn't another train at the other end of the tunnel and maybe just maybe this long drawn out wait to see this team good again is just waiting on these prospects to finally mature. I think if we had a bit more confidence in our goaltender situation this would a good year to kick start our optimism.

As for Risto being a 3rd pairing DMan, please explain to me why all 4 of his NHL coaches since his rookie year has he led the team in TOI? Why hasn't the generational, future Norris trophy winner not been able to get more TOI than him which of course implies that he's not as good yet. Eichel has been the admitted best forward on the team and he gets the most TOI at that position accordingly so why would professional coaches who forgot more about hockey than anyone on this site knows play Risto the most? Just asking before my head explodes... 😀😀

I'm sure I'll be my optimistic self when the season begins but although there is a definite upgrade in talent even if those guys don't put up career numbers but how long will it take this team to find chemistry when they haven't played in 9-10 months much less with 1/2 the forwards swapped out?? A lot of ifs to deal with for the playoffs in this division to happen for them. Stay healthy and hope Boston finally ages and a couple of teams find the injury bug themselves would help.

NJ had as many points at the end of the season as we did, the NYR had an 11 point advantage and added the #1 pick in the draft, they didn't get worse, 3 of the other teams had 1st round byes, the NYI's still have Barry Trotz as their coach and Pittsburgh isn't going to just fall off a cliff. If we only get to play within the division, holy doo doo batman, that'll be kind of fun to watch but that is not an easy schedule by any stretch of the imagination. Hoping to make the playoffs is one thing but our GKs better be outstanding for us to get a sniff of them. Has there been any word at all as to how the NHL-TV fees and scheduling is going to work??

A reasonable post except for the guy with the most TOI on the team for the past 6 years suddenly being a 3rd pairing Dman without a major change in personnel. The Risto hate on this site is mind numbing to me. Is he a top 10 Dman, no but until proven otherwise he's the best guy we have, BAR NONE

I admit this is your opinion but every coach this kid has had except for his rookie year he has led the team in TOI, somehow I'm going to agree with coaches that until Dahlin is ready to take over the team on the backend, everyone else back there must suck because they all play him in all situations and the most of anyone else on the team. So save the hyperbole and admit he may not be as good as YOU want him to be, but he isn't any good??? Please.

Without a doubt they should be better and more entertaining than in the recent past. Having said that if what is projected to be the division they play in, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Boston, Washington and NJ, dang who are they going to leapfrog. NJ is the only weak link there and they should be improved. I think it will come down to Dahlin taking the next step and the combination of Tage T and Cozens being ready to step in and contribute. What worries me the most is with that competition in the division, they will have to gel fast because with so many new players on the team they won't have time to flounder and find chemistry as the season goes on. The GKs still scare me, hopefully at least 1 of them will stand out.
