Plus if you check the stats, his TOI has gone up a minute per game played so far. It's trending up, so Head Coach Ralph Krueger sees something. -
FIFY... I will say if/when they make the playoffs, they'll want a big physical Dman along with McCabe to put a little fear in the little/fast/forward group.

I seen this earlier and I thought wut??? I get it now, that is pretty funny, my mistake Mr. 11 -
It'll depend if they're going to play or sit. If it'll be a sitting position I'm guessing someone like Smith or another vet comes up. If they'll play it'll most likely be one of the young guys. Why bring a young guy up when he can play big minutes in Rochester.

If it helps, I don't think it was you who jinxed us, I think it was d4rksabre who didn't keep the superstitious josie wales of this site, who kills everything Sabre, from watching the game like he promised. Or I think he did. If not, rack it up to "I don't think so good anymore" excuse. -
VS Your Buffalo Sabres have opened the season with a 3 game point streak and are only behind the undefeated Bruins, Hurricanes and the team from Washington in points in the Eastern Conference. Things to be optimistic about this team are 5 players in the top 46 in scoring (without Jack on the list), 5th in the league in goals per game, 1st in power play goals and 2 players in the top 10 in +/-. We should see a very fast paced game today so it should be a fun game to watch. ERod is most likely taking the injured Sheary's spot on the 3rd line which hopefully gives that line a boost. From: https://sabresdigitalpressbox.com CANADIENS at SABRES This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Canadiens this season. Last meeting: Montreal defeated Buffalo 7-4 in Montreal on March 23. Next meeting: Thursday, Jan. 30 in Buffalo The Sabres are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games vs. the Canadiens; 5-3-2 at home. This is the 284th game all-time between Buffalo and Montreal; Buffalo has a 129-113-41 series record. The Sabres are 74-40-27 at home against the Canadiens all-time. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW The Sabres are 2-0-1 through three games. It’s the first time Buffalo has started a season with points in three straight games since the team went 4-0-1 through its first five games of the 2009-10 season. Buffalo is looking to start the season with wins in both of the team’s first two home games for the first time since the 2008-09 season, when they won the first three. Through three games, the Sabres have already gotten points from 14 different players this season. Rasmus Dahlin (1+4), Victor Olofsson (3+1) and Sam Reinhart (2+2) have all tallied at least a point in each of the team’s first three contests. The Sabres went 7-4-3 at home against the Atlantic Division last season, including wins against the Canadiens on Oct. 25 and Nov. 23. A win tonight would give the Sabres wins in three straight visits from the Canadiens for the first time since March 12, 2012 to Feb. 7, 2013. Continuing the 50th Anniversary IMO the greatest Right Wingers in Sabres History: All stats are Sabre records: Renee Robert: 9th in Goals, 5th in assists, 6th in points, 5th in Goals Created, 7th in Even Strength Goals, 8th in Game Winning Goals, 7th in Shots, tied for 10th in Hat Tricks, 8th in Goals per game, 4th in Assists per game and 5th in Points per game Danny Gare: 4th in Goals, 10 in Points, 6th in Goals created, 5th in +/-, 5th in Even Strength Goals, 9th in Power Play Goals, 6th in Game Winning Goals, 5th in Shots, tied for 3ed in Hat Tricks, 4th in Goals per game and 9th in Points per game Alexander Mogilny: 5th in Power Play Goals, tied for 3rd in Hat Tricks, 3rd in Goals per game, 8th in Assists per game, 2nd in Points per game, 76 goals in 1992-93 Season Jason Pominville: 8th in Games Played, 8th in Assists, 8th in Points, 9th in Even Strength Goals, 6th in Short Handed Goals, 4th in Shots Mike Foligno: 7th in Goals, 9th in Points, 7th in Goals Created, 9th in +/-, 2nd in Penalty Minutes, 6th in Even Strength Goals, 3rd in Game Winning Goals, 6th in shooting Percentage, tied for 10th in Hat Tricks, LETS GO BUFFALO

Gee whiz guys, we've played 3 games, have 5 out of 6 points accumulated and we're in 1st place. Can we calm down the "our guys suck" routine for at least a little bit. This isn't the 2013-14 Sabres. If we were the 0-3 Sharks and Stars, I'd get it but we're not. -
Well this is ERod's chance to show just because he's an awful practice player that he could bring it in a real game. After yesterdays game, I think if they move out Sobotka, they need to replace him with someone who has some girth to his game and not another Chihuahua.

My takes: Johansson plays like a seasoned pro, very nice pickup for the team Olafsson does have a pretty shot, needs seasoning in the rest of his game We don't play well against tough, physical teams and didn't yesterday Girgs-Larry-Okposo isn't our 4th line, it's our 3rd and it may be our most consistently good line Sheary didn't look happy having to sit as much as he did because of the play of Mitts and Vesey, this line needs the most work Linus played well, Risto and McCabe not so well, should have been more noticeable with the physical play of CBJ We are in 1st place in the division with the Leafs loss yesterday, lets see how this plays out Montreal plays a fast paced game, this next game should be fun Give the team credit for one thing, it didn't fold and hide, picked up a point it didn't really deserve -

Rumor has it the band wagon is in the shop getting cleaned up and enlarged. My guess is you better jump in now rather than wait until the fans who aren't so ardent gets wind of this team and fills it up quickly. If this holds up even the STHs may finally have a product to sell!!! -
VS. Your Buffalo Sabres have not only surprised by winning its 1st 2 games but by playing a style of hockey not seen in these parts for quite some time. All 4 forward lines, all 6 defenders and the GK playing their part. A WOW moment, "Shout, LETS GO BUFFALO" being sung at the arena, fans into the game and a great time had by all with all the former Sabre players/celebrities at the game. Is it possible to win the first 3 games of the season?? Has Head Coach Ralph Krueger been accepted already?? Was Housley possibly the worst HC in Sabre history?? Can JBott save his job after the 1st 2 seasons in his tenure and the ROR trade?? All these things can hit the fast track with a victory in Ohio tonight. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW Through two games, the Sabres have already gotten points from 14 different players this season. Rasmus Dahlin (1+3), Victor Olofsson (2+1) and Sam Reinhart (2+1) have each tallied at least a point in both of the team’s first two contests. The Sabres are 1-0-1 in their last two road games against Columbus and have a chance to earn points in three straight visits for the first time in the all-time series between the teams Info courtesy of https://sabresdigitalpressbox.com STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT The Sabres are currently 2-0-0 to start a season for the first time since 2012-13. The team last started the season with at least three consecutive wins in 2008-09, when they won their first four contests and went unbeaten through the first eight (6-0-2). Ralph Krueger has become the fourth Sabres head coach to earn wins in his first two games as the team’s head coach, joining Marcel Pronovost (Oct. 13-15, 1977), Scotty Bowman (Oct. 11-13, 1979) and Jim Roberts (Dec. 9-12, 1981). No Sabres head coach has ever won each of his first three games with the team. CONTROLLING THE PLAY Through six periods this season, the Sabres have yet to be outshot by an opponent in a single period, leading in five periods and tying once. They have held their opponents to fewer than 10 shots in four of those periods. The Sabres have outshot their opponents 77-49 in total and by a 59-36 margin at even strength. Buffalo entered play Sunday trailing only the Nashville Predators with a team SAT% of 60.0%, out-attempting their opponents 99-66 at even strength so far this season. Each of Buffalo’s 18 skaters who have dressed through two games has an individual SAT% of at least 50 percent Kyle Okposo’s team-leading SAT% of 77.14% ranked fifth in the league entering play Sunday and led all players with at least 11 minutes of ice time so far this season. Marco Scandella’s 74.51% SAT% ranked ninth in the league and led all defensemen with more than one game played. PLAYING WITH POWER The Sabres entered play Sunday with the top-ranked power play in the league, converting on four of their six power plays through the first two games of the season (66.7%). Entering Sunday’s games, Buffalo also led the league in shot generation rate with the man advantage, averaging 3.49 shots per two minutes of power-play time. According to NaturalStatTrick.com, the Sabres are one of two teams who have averaged more than five shot attempts per two minutes of power-play time so far this season. LET’S GET DANGEROUS According to NaturalStatTrick.com, the Sabres led the league entering play Sunday with a high-danger scoring chance percentage of 76.0%, out-chancing their opponents 19-6 in high-danger situations at 5-on-5 through the team’s first two games.* By this metric, Jeff Skinner leads all Sabres with three high-danger scoring chances during 5-on-5 play. Skinner tied for ninth in the league with 94 high-danger scoring chances last season. Five other players have recorded more than one high-danger scoring chance through the team’s two games: Jack Eichel, Casey Mittelstadt, Victor Olofsson, Rasmus Ristolainen and Vladimir Sobotka. Continuing the 50th Anniversary IMO the greatest Left Wingers in Sabres History: All stats are Sabre records: Rick Martin: 10th in games played, 2nd in goals, 6th in assists, 3rd in points, 2nd in even strength goals, 3rd in power play goals, 2nd in game winning goals, 2nd in shots, 1st in hat tricks, 2nd in goals per game Dave Andreychuk: 6th in games played, 3rd in goals, 2nd in assists, 2nd in points, 4th in even strength goals, 1st in power play goals, 5th in game winning goals, 3rd in shots, 5th in hat tricks, 5th in goals per game Craig Ramsay: 3rd in games played, 6th in goals, 3rd in assists, 4th in points, 1st in +/-, 3rd in even strength goals, 1st in short handed goals, tied 8th in game winning goals, 9th in shots, Thomas Vanek: 5th in goals, 10th in goals created, 10th in even strength goals, 4th in power play goals, 4th in game winning goals, 8th in shots, 6th in hat tricks, Miroslav Satan: 8th in goals, 6th in power play goals, 3rd in short handed goals, 7th in game winning goals, 7th in hat tricks, avg. 64 points in 7 of 8 seasons with Sabres LETS GO BUFFALO

GDT: NJ Devils @ Buffalo Sabres, 10-5-2019, 7pm ET (MSG, WGR)
jsb replied to Doohickie's topic in The Aud Club
VS The home opener for the boys after playing an awesome game against the Penguins on the road Thursday. How awesome was it you ask?? Team defense was the best we've seen in years Secondary scoring Although it didn't get much pub, that Dahlin goal was nothing short of sick for a Dman No cries of trade Risto No cries from the analytics boys that yes we won but we still sucked No send Casey to Rochester posts in GDT afterward Even Thorny conceded after 3 page argument that Sobotka can stay on 2nd line if we continue to win Other Sabre info for this day: This is the first of three meetings between the Sabres and Devils this season. Last meeting: New Jersey defeated Buffalo 3-1 in New Jersey on March 25 Next meeting: Monday, Dec. 2 in Buffalo The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Devils; 4-5-1 at home. This is the 158th game all-time between Buffalo and New Jersey; Buffalo has a 76-55-26 series record. The Sabres are 41-27-11 at home against the Devils all-time. The Sabres are 4-3-2 all-time on October 5. October 5, 2005: Thomas Vanek records his first NHL point with an assist in his NHL debut, a 6-4 win vs. NY Islanders. The Sabres are 21-20-7 all-time in their first home game of the season. Buffalo is looking for its first win in a home-opener since the team’s 5-2 win vs. Philadelphia on Jan. 20, 2013. The Sabres have previously opened their home schedule against the Devils once in franchise history, a 2-1 win on Jan. 25, 1995 featuring Sabres goals by Donald Audette and Wayne Presley and a 29-save performance by Dominik Hasek. With 50th Anniversary, IMO the greatest Centers in Sabre History: Gil Perreault: 1st in Games Played, 1st in Goals, 1st in Assists, 1st in Points, 1st in Game Winning Goals, 1st in Shots Pat LaFontaine: 1st in Points per Game, 1st in Goals per Game, 1st in Assists per Game, 7th in Power Play Goals Dale Hawerchuk: 9th in Assists, 2nd in Assists per Game, 3rd in Points per Game, 7th in Goals Created per Game Don Luce: 7th in Games Played, 7th in Assists, 7th in Points, 4th in +/-, 8th in Even Strength Goals, 2nd in Short-Handed Goals, 10th in Game Winning Goals, 6th in Shots Daniel Briere: 9th in Goals per Game, 7th in Assists per Game, 6th in Points per Game, Other news, NJD blew a 4-0 lead yesterday and lost in Shoot Out to the Jets last night. Cory Schneider was also injured in the game and my guess is he'll miss the game today. Blackwood looked shaky in the game and the Devils looked strong in the forward group but had an awful time with the Jets forechecking game in the 3rd period. Maybe keys to the game tonight. Let's hope the boys take advantage tonight. LETS GO BUFFALO -
Let no one say I wasn't a team player and added a post to get us to 1000. Awesome game by the boys too.

I understand the angst but I don't think Sobotka will be a top 5 reason as to why we do well or start slow starting Thursday.
-
(Beaulieu-Nelson) GONE -Risto-McCabe-Dahlin (rookie season)-Scandella................ This was our opening night defense Risto-McCabe a seasoned Dahlin, Miller, Montour, Pilut would be reason #1 why we'll be better Johansson is better than Berglund, Casey is a year older, Olofsson is better than Pominville, the 2nd and 3rd line is better than anything we had last year in those spots. Team speed appears much better this year. Guys in AHL look closer to being ready than last year also, which should help when the inevitable injuries kick in. Not great but BETTER.
-
1st Line.... Scoring line 2nd Line... Putting Vets together and keeping Kyle (turtle-man) Okposo away 3rd Line.... Hoping skill of this line overcomes its shortcomings 4th Line.... PK and stopper line This site has to hate someone, it might as well be Sobotka until someone else comes along, then you can hate someone else. ERod didn't really show me anything other than the ability to miss the net by 10 feet on his breakaways in preseason. We'll see how long he stays there. I'm guessing when he does play it'll be for someone other than Sobotka, Tage will be his replacement if/when it comes to that. I don't think Risto gets traded until the deadline if at all.

How bad is this league that WildCard of all people is undefeated in it. No wonder JujuFish won every year.
