  1. Since they are both centres I'd like to see face off stats added. Jack is around 50% while McDavid is near 25%.
  2. Enzo! Him and O'Reilly manning the point. Nice screen by Reinhart.
  3. Pysyk made some nice plays coming out of our end, skating well and beautiful passes.
  4. Canadian Thanksgiving probably plays into it as well. I would schedule all Canadian teams though.
  5. Shanny, Lou and Babcock new tank commanders. I guess 50 million will help Babs overcome the pain of losing.
  6. Tim Horton wore 7 in Toronto. Decent 2's were Carl Brewer, Ian Turnbull, Brian Leetch and the great Luke Schenn.
  7. He was given 9 games last year, albeit with a weaker team. He is on the bubble here so give him a few games with some good linemates and some PP time. If he doesn't have an impact or seem to improve send him down for a stint.
  8. Perreault did seem bow legged. He looked like he was 5'10" due to the partial squat stance. Low centre of gravity and width led to excellent balance.
  9. EK all the way plus the Cy Young 44-23.
  10. Kaleta's injured. Bylsma said he would be back to get in a game or two.
  11. They got a steal at #51. They will send him back but are setting him up for a big year by pumping up his tires in this fashion. He may get a few games if there are injuries. I'll follow his progress in the WHL for sure. The World Juniors are a possibility now as well. Can he turn into Scott Niedermayer?
  12. My son had 5 weeks of hockey schools this summer and tryouts are this week so the rink has been a great place to get a break from the heat. Looking forward to some higher level hockey than 10 year olds. OHL training camps have started around here.
  13. If I recall correctly, Stamkos had Barry Melrose as a coach for the first 16 games, and he didn't trust the scrawny kid. Joe Thornton's rookie season was nothing to write home about (7 points in 55 games). I voted for 50 points and he should get that.
  14. Agree on the points of him being a chess master out there and that he drove the bus while Domi got the glory at the WJC. That is the kind of player he is, not flashy but makes great plays to find the open man and is positionally sound. The WJC stuff reminds me of Olympic Gold in Vancouver, where Crosby got the glory for scoring the golden goal while Toews was Canada's MVP for the tourney, leading the team in scoring from the third line.
  15. I think he'll be like Larionov instead of Sedin. Smart, positionally sound with excellent vision and passing ability. I also think he could have put up better numbers in Junior but he focused on wOrking out to get bigger and faster. He's our future 2C who other teams have a hard time matching up with.
  16. Could fetch something decent at the trade deadline, if we end up as sellers. Teams are always looking for RHD depth for a deep playoff run.
  17. He can be a solid 3rd liner.
  18. I'm trying to be positive and hope he has a full recovery from his back issues.
  19. This isn't out of training camp but I think Ullmark will be solid in Rochester and will get some time in Buffalo due to injuries and show that he can play at this level. We will have a Swedish tandem going forward. I know this doesn't meet the contest requirements but I tried picking an original name.
  20. Chicago had Kane, Hossa and Sharp on RW, so Sharp spent some time on the 3rd line. He also played some LW and the point on the PP. It was a down year for him.
  21. I have watched North Star games at the Met but can't recall what we drank. Not Schmidt's. I grew up in Ontario but that was the closest NHL rink.
  22. Lou Nanne, Bill Goldsworthy.
  23. Good story. The travel will be a fraction of the WHL, which spans nearly half of our continent. NCAA didn't seem to be on his radar, the NHL is his goal, not an education. He will benefit from having Crawford as a coach. Crawford will be on speed dial for many GMs and scouts. Those types will rack up air miles this year to get a few games in. It will be interesting to see his numbers in that league. Seguin scored 40 points in 29 games as a 20 year old during the lockout. It will be more difficult to compare him to the other European prospects because they are mostly in the Swedish, Finnish or KHL. The pay is pretty good too.
  24. When you're named after a boxer, your father probably has a speed or punching bag in the garage. Don't mess with him. We also don't want him doing this too often in case of a hand injury.
