  1. I have fios and if they have a full night of games they will generally only have one feed per game. It is usually the home team feed, but not always. They have done a better job this year of having all the feeds when there are only a few games on a given night. It's always available in HD as well.
  2. The Caps are definitely more popular now, but there's so many transplants that there are always lots of opposing fans in all the DC sports venues. It's just the way it goes. For instance, Philadelphia fans used to organize "takeovers" of Nats Park for Phillies games, until the Phillies started sucking hard and the Nats came up with a whole PR campaign, dubbed "Natitude", to combat the phenomenon. Back in the day that Eleven is referring to, they used to have to explain the rules on the scoreboard at the (then) MCI Center during Caps games. For instance, someone gets called for hooking, and they define what hooking means on the scoreboard. No joke. Hockey is definitely down in the ranking of DC sports. The Redskins get the most coverage, followed by the Nationals, and then the Wizards. The Caps may have gotten more coverage than the Wizards at some point, but now the Wizards don't suck and this is more of a basketball town. I also have a feeling that a lot of Caps fans are coming in from the further out suburbs - there's definitely a different cross section of people than you would find in a typical DC metro train (and not just because Hockey is less popular with African Americans).
  3. Nothing earth shattering here, but nice to see us as #1 again in something besides the draft lotto order. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/114569/team-rankings-rebuilding-buffalo-sabres-still-have-nhls-top-prospect-pool/
  4. John Vogl ‏@BuffNewsVogl 2m2 minutes ago Zemgus Girgensons says you can take his quotes from all the other games about players not having an effort and apply them again tonight.
  5. They are enjoyable to watch. I love how smooth big Z is in the offensive zone.
  6. To me, Buffalo Trace is one of the best bourbons at almost any price. I think there is a fair amount of "quasi-artisinal" bourbon out there that just doesn't rise to the next level. For Irish, I love Redbreast 12, but Bushmills 10 is good everyday stuff for the money. Scotch, I just love Talisker 10, and like pretty much all but the sweet stuff (which I don't dislike).

    Zadorov?

He looked fine and Nolan said so as well. I think the reason he isn't getting playing time has more to do with Nolan not wanting to undermine his whole "rewarding effort" thing.
  8. Myers' doofy manner and penalties bother me. It seems like every 3-5 games some guy disrespects him and Myers instead of just laying the wood on some big hits later, overreacts like some 13 year old who's been bullied too much and snaps like Adam Sandler in "Waterboy." And his reactions are all show, which is why it keeps happening. I think at least twice this year we've seen his agitators chuckling about it after they ###### with him. He's almost like an idiot savant of some kind.
  9. Saw this linked on twitter: http://kuklaskorner.com/tso/comments/2014-15-nhl-reverse-standings
  10. That's a good point. Now I'm chuckling at the guy in my fantasy league who signed Nelson and Boychuk this week.
  11. I've thought about the nick/marcus thing before, would be cool to have them on the same line, but I can't really see it on a team aspiring to contend. That said, I believe nick is a ufa and the sabres like hometown boys so who knows. Foligno is pretty much inarguably an nhl player at this point, which already makes him an overachiever. Personally I like his upside and I hope he can play consistently like "good marcus." He's one of the guys you root for.
  12. 1 Enroth shutouts . 3.5 over/under 2. Matt Moulson goals - 24.5 over/under 3. Sabres Total Points - 68.5 over/under 4. Sabres total goals scored 195.5 over/under 5. Stewart Fighting Majors 4.5 over/under 6. Team Face-off Percentage 47.5 % over/under 7. Josh Gorges - Penalty Minutes - 34.5 min. over/under 8. Cody Hodgson total points - 51.5 over/under
  13. Agreed! I drive a 6-spd wrangler and it is the best. I even taught my wife to drive it and she loves it as well. Not a sports car, but just so much fun to drive. Of course it's not a suburban, to be fair. With a manual I just feel more connected with the car and the road, and the car does what I want it to. We are actually thinking of getting a 4 door mid-size SUV for her, and she wants a manual (as do I obviously), the only issue is the options are basically disappearing. As far as I know you can only get one in a slightly older 4runner, a 4 door wrangler, and the highest 4x4 trim package xterra. You might be able to get one in an older escape, but only in the 4 cylinder. She also loves the 2011 and later Dodge Charger but they only make it in an auto! What a crock... Not so! I'm not going to claim it's as easy as an auto in bumper to bumper, but if you're used to it it's no big deal. I've always had manuals in DC (and briefly in NYC), with commutes up to an hour each way. I bike to work now so the point is moot now, but my wife drives the jeep to work on the beltway every day. She hates the traffic obviously, but still prefers the manual.
  14. I believe I once saw John Vogl retweet an @sabrespace tweet.
  15. I will say Reinhardt looks pretty good on defense and seems to play well positionally, but around the net he tends to soft c0ck it. It's almost like he's thinking too much.
  16. The android update doesnt seem polished. Most recent video is a Reinhart interview from June! Seems nearly as poor as the old one. We'll see.
  17. Rob Ray did point out "Mike" Grigorenko had a nice defensive zone play filling in for I believe Myers who was getting back.
  18. On Stafford's goal he "went hard to the net and pulled up for a nice backhand" I believe I heard. Ennis goal was a rebound that bounced in off of Staal if I recall right. Nice to hear the goal horn!
  19. You should be able to listen online on wgr550.com or via their app, or (as I do) through the tunein radio app.
  20. Also Ted Leonsis, who is majority owner of the Caps, Wizards, and Mystics (WNBA), who all play in the same stadium in downtown DC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Leonsis On a side note, I assume this is why Caps games don't have a "traditional" production feel to the in-arena experience. They use a lot of the same PA gimmicks, effects, etc. as at the NBA games.
  21. I managed to get in a sauna at the gym before work, and had it all to myself. ###### fantastic.
