  1. Yeah once they got going, they were a lot of fun. Definitely jittery to start, though. Eichel is great. There were a few flashes where he looked like a man among boys. I would expect we'll see more of those. I also don't think we'll see any more complaints of Girgs being marginalized!

    FIOS Home feed

As far as I have been able to tell, the home feed, when available, is always the lower of the channels.
  3. Brad May's shirt/tie game is 500% better than last season.
  4. I watched a few openers on TV last year (hawks and flames I believe) and both blew away what the Sabres did, which was bush league by comparison. Maybe one of many reasons Ted Black was not the right guy for the job.
  5. Whatever people agree on, I am strongly opposed to changing the rules for this season after we've already drafted, if that's what is being proposed here. I am sure most people drafted based on the specific scoring categories chosen. edit - I reread thread.
  6. Sabres top two lines listed as "top 30 NHL lines" by TSN. Not too many teams listed with a 1 and 1a. http://www.tsn.ca/top-30-lines-heading-into-nhl-season-1.372439
  7. A link will show up on the league page and in the app at least 15 mins prior to the start.
  8. Any chance with the extra teams we could move to 60 second draft time? 75 secs is pretty long, especially that late on a weeknight! If not, no worries
  9. This is the most I've felt tempted to gamble on sports, ever.
  10. I seem to recall one of the games last year was broadcast on the other team's website (carolina?). It was just a scoreboard feed with radio overlayed maybe? Hopefully they do something like that.
  11. It's entering Scotch/Irish whiskey season for me (as well as cognac/armegnac/brandy), and I went to the store yesterday to replace a bottle of Talisker 10, by far my personal favorite. They didn't have any, so I tried some Bowmore 15, which was on sale. It's not bad, but not really that compelling compared to others in its price bracket.
  12. If I recall correctly, the only sanctioned way to see their preseason games last year was NHLN, and I don't believe they played any. Looks like they are not scheduled to play any this year either: http://www.nhl.com/ice/schedulebymonth.htm. They did not play on center ice. I think your only option is hockeystreams.
  13. I like random best for redraft leagues. The draft time in yahoo says Tue Oct 6 5:00am EDT for me (I have my time zone set).
  14. To me, the biggest thing was that toward the end, I wasn't worried about them giving the game away. Previous years, I would have had some sweaty palms going, like we were getting away with something if we won. I have to say they look good despite the dumb penalties. The coverage in the Buffalo News today was fun to read...it was like they were writing up a superbowl win. Tyrod Taylor being compared to Flutie and Russel Wilson...Karlos Williams stealing the show from McCoy...Ron Darby (rookie CB) stared Luck in the eye and Luck flinched (figuratively)...the 12th Man so loud the Bills defense had trouble calling their own alignments...after reading all that you feel like there's no way they can lose another game! Ah, the joy of a fresh NFL season. These were some of my favorites, the dramatism was very well done and enjoyable to read. ---------- “I came out and our fans were up the whole time,” Ryan said after the Bills’ rousing, 27-14 victory over Indianapolis. “It was unbelievable. They were standing the entire time for the introductions. They knew it was going to be a special day and so did I. I was like, ‘You can sit down anytime soon.’ “But I forgot, this is Buffalo.” ------------------ The bravado was surprising. Strange, even. This rookie cornerback blistered most of August was about to become a bull’s-eye for three hours at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Yet on the first drive of the Buffalo Bills’ 27-14 win over Indianapolis, Ronald Darby broke up a pass and then immediately turned to the Indianapolis Colts sideline with an animated “incomplete” signal. In other words, Darby antagonized arguably the best quarterback in the game. ------------- Ryan’s players bought into the swagger and the bravado and fell in line with the idea that, yes, this is a very different Bills team than any that has taken the field in many years. This one was built to not only win, but to dominate in all phases. This one was put together to keep playing after the regular season. And on Sunday, the Bills opened their schedule by walking the walk. They beat the Indianapolis Colts, 27-14, in every possible way at Ralph Wilson Stadium. They pounded them physically. They out-smarted them with brilliant offensive and defensive strategy that went a long way toward allowing the first-time NFL starter, Tyrod Taylor, to look far more seasoned than his much more highly touted counterpart, Andrew Luck. They kept a crowd of 70,319 roaring from start to finish. ---------------------- Years ago, when Ryan Fitzpatrick won a few games for the Bills, Fitz-magic became a catch phrase around town. But it always rang hollow. Fitz was brilliant, but he was an average quarterback who helped an average team during their long playoff drought. Anyone watching Sunday found a different kind of magic. Flutie magic. -------------------------- Safety Aaron Williams sensed it when Rex Ryan was giving his speech to the team Saturday night. Williams looked down at his clenched hands and felt them trembling in his lap. He looked around at his teammates, who seemed ready to run through the hotel walls.
  15. I tend to set my roster on Mondays and then check in daily for adjustments and roster moves. Keep in mind if you add a free agent or trade for a player, you will have to reset your roster from that point forward if you already did so earlier in the week (it jumbles things up). The benches in gold are pretty small so there shouldn't be too much roster adjustment, so you could conceivably set once a week and not miss out on too much.
  16. I'm signed up! I do have another fantasy draft that Sunday, Oct 4 at 8pm, but if that works for everyone else I can make it happen. Now for the hardest part of fantasy...thinking of a team name. :wallbash:
  17. I like hits and blocks with no PIM...better gauge of toughness and "compete" vs just signing a goon.
  18. Personally, I only comment occasionally, and I do read the board thoroughly during the season and during the hot periods of the offseason. I'm here to read opinions of real fans. I appreciate the community that is here and I would say that given how small and close knit it is it does feel hard to step in at times, however there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like anyone's nasty or anything (well, there was a period of that for a while where new posters were basically told to eff off). Funny enough, I actually originally signed up for the forum so that I would have access to the ignore feature.

    [OT] Cigars

You could write copy for one of the cigar magazines. Also, you would probably like an Ashton, if you haven't tried it already. Not super cheap, but a world class lighter-bodied cigar.
