  1. Funny you mention this. I am going up with my wife in October (for the Bruins game the next day 10/18 and then the Vikings on Sunday) and opted for the back of the 100 level (row 19 I believe), near the shoot-twice blue line. I actually got the tickets on stubhub already, since were are planning travel around it. It will be her first live NHL game, although she sat through many a Sabres game last year on Center Ice. We are very pumped.
  2. I see goaltending keeping us firmly entrenched in the battle for last place, no matter who we picked up. Hodgson just doesn't seem like a Murray kind of player.
  3. For those interested, someone on twitter pointed out the Moulson jerseys on the NHL shop website are still discounted to around $60.
  4. Perspective from a frequent reader/rare poster: 1. Having more topical threads makes the board easier to navigate and find the content you are most interested in. I think that's why forums are set up this way, otherwise it's basically just a giant listserv with everyone replying to the same 4 emails for 12 months. 2. If you haven't checked in for a week or two, it's much easier to catch up using topical threads than trying to sort through a dozen pages of two or three broad threads, which may have several discussions/arguments going on at once. 3. It's easier to go back and find content from a few months prior 4. When the threads are broad, I think there is some confusion where things should go. For example, a post about Marcus Foligno's contract status, does that go in the free agent thread, the roster thread, etc. (I'm sure there's an answer there and I think I know what it is, but I'm unsure and that's my point). Another example: if it's a FA signing on another team, is that in the FA thread, or the around the league? That example is actually less clear than the first one to me. That said, there's definitely a place for general discussion threads, and I think a mix of the two is helpful. You definitely also want to avoid having a new thread every week on the same subject, but I wouldn't think that would be a big problem on this board for some reason, like it is on the Bills board or other large forums.
  5. You have to sign up and then they "invite" you to register, and it costs money, I believe.
  6. One silver lining in the proposed change for 2015 is that while it presumably will lower the odds on our pick if we are in last place, it will raise the odds on the Islanders' pick, assuming they miss the playoffs. May not be enough to make up the lost percentage points, but may ease the blow.
  7. Someone needs to tell Pierre that "careen" and "carom" are different words and that he is using the wrong one.
  8. Talk about getting your pee pee slapped... I think that the assembly, in this case the owners, can vote him out and force a sale (similarly to how the owners have to approve a purchase). That should be the next step.
  9. Of course Marchand was faking the torn ligament. What a little ######.
  10. That's me right there. Having gotten in a position to get NHL center ice this year (I live in Maryland), I decided after baseball season to get back into hockey after a very long time of not having followed the Sabres. My timing could have been better, but overall it has been highly enjoyable. There are some good story lines on the team, and hockey is just awesome regardless.
  11. The call still has me in an alcohol-fueled rage. Was really looking forward to watching that line tonight! Hopefully they win, because it looks like there won't be any fighting to quench my thirst for vengance. Neuvirth looks OK so far. (great first post, i know)
