The biggest problem with the entire novelty was not "developing" enough of our own assets. As much as I loved Murray's brashness, he didn't do a great job investing in youth to propel the team forward. He tried to speed up the process with the wrong pieces. Once he felt we had the pieces in place he made a few bad contract decisions. Okposo prior to his injury / health risks was considered a win-win for the Sabres at 6M for 7 years. As he was coming off a big season with Tavares and company. However, that turned sideways. The worst decision on cap mismanagement would have been Moulson's 5 year extension. However, it's done in a year. I think I've just gotten too used to mediocrity.

Bradford made 20M on a one year deal, and for someone who has as much luck staying upright with his noodle of an arm, he might be out by December 1st with an injury. Bridgewater had one of the ugliest injuries in recent history. I'm not bringing him in to be my starter unless there is a better saturation rate on what he can do in full contact. So yeah, i will take the relative unknown over huge injury risks. Again, the likelihood come year 2 that McCarron is the Bills starter is less than 30-70% in favor. I would say he's destined to be an overpaid back up next year. The Allen fluff could be a complete smoke screen. Allen has an arm, but so did EJ. No thanks. Rosen all the way.

McCarron is just as good as any rental "keep the seat warm" QB keeping the seat warm for Josh Rosen.

I'm a fan of the Star move as he was underutilized in Carolina in the last season plus. He's a solid run stuffer and is in the right place in his career. The coaching staff knows him well, and he fits a need. He's a little more than just a guy, but not a super star in any sense. I like the move. Williams was always going to come back and Bradford is the "right fit" at this time to be a bridge to the non Baker Mayfield (kids a scrub) QB in the draft.

I believe that they're gunning for Rosen over Darnold. That seems like the Bills move. Either way getting a young QB is the smartest thing this franchise can do in the last several years. Amazing maneuvering of the roster.

This is definitely the case, he's been nothing but a class act on and off the ice. I have no disdain for him. It's such a shame when this happens to great hockey players (Lindros, Pronger, down to others like Savard). It's just garbage. He should have the chance to live without complications for his family.

Trade back into the first somewhere between 12-20 to get McIsaac. I have such a good feeling about him.
-
Both look better on the eye test for me personally over Hughes.

It really was putting a damper on things that I was considering it "okay" to trade a former #2 overall pick. Who has been with the Sabres for 4 seasons, who is a good soldier and wants to write the fort. This is someone we need to build around, not jettison. So I'm back on board. Go #23!
-
Hopefully he gets a chance to play even if briefly. He showed what he brings in Rochester. They'll (Guhle, Baptiste, O'Regan) be sent down prior to the playoffs.
-
Names on the backs of jerseys. That's the only thing I can assume. Roenick was a glorified heckler. He really needs to shut his rat faced mouth.
-
I hate Kadri more than any other hockey player in the league. Next time, Risto, please bury him in the ice.

So true!

  :censored: :censored: A Sabres fan should never, ever admit to even wanting to root for those asshats.
-
Yes, this is the best feeling in the world. I will forever and a day, hate these interlopers!

The second trade to Carolina, makes absolutely no sense. Pass.

That's true lol We could literally leave everyone but: Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly, Rodrigues, Ristolainen and Scandella available.

Hamilton quoting O'Reilly: What's "very likely"?
Rasmus_ replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Perfectly said. We really do need a like button for posts. Anything Hamilton and Harrington write is complete conjecture and mindless drivel. The only thing worse than the writing, is Harrington's pointless monotone questions that set up for passive aggressive white noise. I think if we could almost trade anything it would be these clowns for a case of rotten imported tomatoes. -
Kane does remind you of the me first genre of athlete with his shoot first mentality. However, you can always handle one in a crowd. He did nothing this season that warranted him being a misfit. He say the "writing in the sand", and acted like a true professional. He did a lot of quality work in the community and while he didn't have the greatest earliest start to his Sabre career, he made them have some bite. We need the bite, without the glamour attitude. For all his dings and dents, I was a Kane fan as a Vancouver Giant, as an Atlanta Thrasher, as a Winnipeg Jet and finally a Buffalo Sabre. I love the way he plays the game on both sides. So here's a glass raised to you Evander. Rock the west coast and enjoy some playoff sun. The Sabres need to get back to reality and remember there is gravity. Develop a team first approach and work hard. Botterill still is the right man for the job. One diva out, a team in. Following this season we can purge: Gorges, Nolan (DO NOT RE-SIGN), and the other one year signings. Following the 18-19 season, we lose Moulson and Pominville's cap, which will be the first plucking of strings to get the situation back under par.

Drafting a RB in the 5th round is better than Ivory or Tolbert. #Truth Allen is perfect for the Bungaloo Browns then. They're going to botch the 1st pick up again.
-
Bogosian, has necrotic value. He has no chance of netting a pure upgrade with even Nylander. I don't see the value in the Rangers deal. I'd rather keep O'Reilly over that. The Okposo deal makes no sense for Arizona, given that while Domi may be traded at the draft, I'm not sure Okposo can net that return. The Penguins deal makes "some" sense, however I'm not sure you can get Rust included in that deal. I'm good with getting rid of Larsson, he's proven to be less the player than I personally thought he was.

GDT Buffalo Sabres at Tampa Bay Lightning, 2/28/18, 7:00pm, MSG

I think it also just goes to show that they're taking the blue collar mentality to heart. There are chances for guys finally, Evan Rodrigues is flourishing. He's easily twice the player Larsson is. How many times have I seen Larsson fall down in the offensive zone. Continue to carve up the roster. He's finally been given a chance, and I really hope he takes the last 18 games to prove that he belongs here in the top 6. Same goes for Nelson who is showing more than I saw at any other time in his Sabres career. I've been screaming for him to be waived for months. He's worse than Tennyson. He's easily pushed himself up past Larsson, Girgensons, and most of the other bottom six. I think he's easily the 5th (Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo, Reinhart) best forward on the roster at the moment. Which isn't saying much. He's showing that he can play possession hockey and make good decisions. His shot is underrated as well. -
This is what I feel. JT Miller is such a tantalizing player. If we were anywhere close to the playoffs he'd be someone I'd want to invest in.
