  1. UPL playing next year in Rochester simply isn’t going to happen. We will have at least Portillo or Levi (or both) signing at the end of the NCAA season. One or both will be playing in Rochester.
  2. Are the Olympics still going on? Asking for a friend.
  3. Would love Peters to suit up one night to beat some Millennial ass. And Granato to body slam the opposing coach.
  4. Or helmet killer.
  5. And don’t forget Johnson, who we’ll have a good handle on in 3-4 years. Just shows you how long defensemen need to develop and if we want someone for the right side soon, we better trade for one or draft with our first pick in next draft. I’ll take Jiricek (or Nemec) and a trade or FA for another shutdown righty defensemen.
  6. This is a difficult thing to do and sort of akin to counting your chickens before they hatch. If we have a decent player and he is willing to sign for a fair value contract, I don’t think you shy away from it because some players might demand a higher contract in the future. However, I think term is more important than actual salary for Oloffson. I wouldn’t sign him for anything more than 3-4 years, even if we have to mildly overpay for him.
  7. Looks like Tage vs the Avs today.
  8. Before this injury, Olofsson had been a fairly decent player who was showing improvement every year. There’s no reason to jettison a decent player just because he’s only a middle-6 player. He’s great depth. As for cost, I wouldn’t overpay, but give him a fair contract. The Sabres are barely above the floor anyhow.
  9. A subtle shoulder, right in front of him, vs a guy skating away, defenses down, and having a stick used to buckle his legs and have him go face first into the boards. Nope, not dirty. Not only was it dirty, it was cowardly.
  10. I think that was a much dirtier play than what Dell pulled a bunch of games back. Dell got in his way tapped him and the dude slipped. This hit though, looks like the intent was to injure.
  11. If I want a young RHD playing in Buffalo within 1-2 seasons, I’m going to pick him with our first pick. I look at Johnson and Muel and it seems like any defender taken past the top 15 takes much longer to develop than a forward. If we do end up going forward first, then we must be looking to fill the right side with either off-hand players or FAs (not a good sign).
  12. Hope he didn’t re-injure him. Would totally be a Sabre thing to happen.
  13. Man this game looks awesome on my TV.
  14. Agreed. The depth will come though. I don’t think we should be signing vets to serve as this depth though, because they’ll just block the future. I imagine this depth will be coming from guys we have in Rochester, players we drafted last year, and the coming draft. Funny thing is, not too long ago, most of us were dismissing Krebs as a poor man’s rhino. His brief stint in Rochester was mostly forgettable. We were obviously wrong.
  15. Not an issue. We have a handful of players ready to make the jump next year. And some are already on the team. I think we’re gonna be better than we think next year. But, this will depend on goaltending.
  16. If the Sabres are considering Lambert, they’ll need to do their DD. Get him and his Dad in the same room to get their opinions on him playing for the Sabres, then speak to them separately. Then go speak with every coach he’s had.
  17. Tsai could easily move the team, and with the NHL blessing as well. I don’t think it would take much arm twisting other owners when their revenue sharing cut takes a significant leap.
  18. He’s done no crime, free him!
  19. The problem with this Olympics (and probably more to come) is the blatant corruption. We have this and now mercenaries playing for team China when the IOC rules are that you must be a citizen to represent and compete for a country. At least 18 of the 22 players of the Chinese hockey team are non-citizens. And Eileen Guo refuses to answer questions about her citizenship. I think this is the beginning of the end of the Olympics as we know it.
  20. I don’t think it even needs to be that way. If Tuch and Krebs and pick become solid contributors on a perennial playoff team, then we won. We could never become that team with Eichel on it.
  21. This guy is just a good dude. And I didn’t know the Thunder existed. Extremely glad it does.
  22. What’s the chance of bringing him over to Rochester for next year to have a more hands-on impact in his development?
  23. Really, the punishment for these types of offenses should double for each repeated offense: 1, 2, 4, 8, etc. People wouldn’t even have to wonder what the next suspension will be. That would quickly put a damper of actions like these.
  24. From a pediatrician’s standpoint, one rule of thumb is to average both parent’s height (the is call mid-parental height) and to add 2 inch for a male and subtract 2 inches for females. Now, of course there’s always exceptions to this, but studies have show kids usually fall within the +/- 1.5 standard deviations of the mid-parental height 90% of the time.
