  1. Future considerations means they gave him away for nothing, but maybe the Amerks will return the favor if the Crunch ever need help and the Amerks want to move a player. He has been a healthy scratch the past two games, becoming expendable with the switch of Daniel Walcott from forward back to defense. The Crunch also has defenseman Charlie Dodero in reserve in the ECHL. "No one likes to get scratched. It's just one of those things, part of the business,'' Mormina said. "As far as seeing the writing on the wall (for the trade), I'm not really a mind reader, so I try not to look too deeply into things.'' The move to Rochester keeps Mormina close to his wife and young children in Syracuse. "Joey has been a great teammate and an important member of the Crunch the past three seasons. At this time, he was at a crossroads career-wise and Rochester presented him with a better playing opportunity going forward without having to relocate his family,'' said Tampa Bay assistant general manager Julien BriseBois. "I felt the right thing to do was to allow Joey to take advantage of that opportunity. I wish to personally thank him for his services to the Crunch since the fall of 2013 and best of luck moving forward.'' http://www.syracuse.com/crunch/index.ssf/2016/03/syracuse_crunch_sends_veteran_defenseman_to_rochester_amerks.html#incart_river_mobile_index
  2. To say Sanders is in a conspiracy to make Hillary look good is really out there. And how do you know what their "private personas" are? How did you get access, or is that based on in-depth reporting from Hannity and O'Reilly?
  3. The difference being that Clinton and Sanders are not making personal attacks and saying each other are unqualified to be President. They are debating the issues and saying that they are more qualified to be President than the other, and that they also have great respect for each other. In other words, they're acting presidential.
  4. I agree, the teams haven't given the press much to be positive about, especially the Bills. They shouldn't be cheerleaders. I am tired of Harrington still being snarky about the Sabres tanking last year. He thinks they should have made quick changes to make the team competitive instead of tanking to get Eichel, and he won't let it go. But that's what teams like the Bills do to perpetually be mediocre. The fans bought into the tank, so give it a rest.
  5. I love the hypocrisy of Republicans at the debate. They savage each other with personal attacks and say the others are not qualified to be president, but then at the end they all say they'll support whoever is the Republican candidate. It undermines their arguments.
  6. At work, someone makes a cake for each of us in our department for our birthday. My choice is always a cherry cake with white buttercream frosting. Cut strawberries between layers is a bonus. Unlike most of the department, I don't like any cakes with chocolate, peanut butter, or cookie crumbles. But I never get cake for home, my preference is pies. Not too sweet, cherry or apple, with a moist crust. The flan will have to leave, and then get in line behind the good cakes and pies, and become a Freedom Flan. And we'll make the French pay for it.
  7. Jack Eichel on NA uniform: "Pretty cool. I like the color black. I think black uniforms look good."
  8. Romney took Trump out to the woodshed today. Even talked about Trump bragging about his marital affairs. The Republicans this week have created a treasure trove of video clips for the Democrats to run against Trump in the general election. The Republican debate tonight should be a doozy.
  9. They're 21, so you may have never been hip.
  10. Was woken up this morning by two woodpeckers banging on the wood trim outside the bedroom. I didn't think it was warm enough yet for them to return. Friggin climate change.
  11. My son and his friends think it's sick, as in good. So you have to consider the probable target buyers.
  12. No Alcohol? There goes Labatt's sponsorship.
  13. I both saddens and frightens me that people would vote for someone based on , "What the hell, let's give it a try". Especially someone who could send people to war because he loses his temper if Putin makes fun of the size of his hands or his spray tan.
  14. Remember that McDavid had to get by Risto to get that close to Lehner to push the puck in. It may have surprised Lehner that he was allowed to get that close, and he may have been expecting a shot from farther out. I questioned why Risto was out there so soon after spending the whole 2 minutes killing the penalty. He had to have been winded. Normally he wouldn't let someone get by him like that.
  15. It doesn't have to be much, but think of a straight line from your shoulders to your knees to the balls of your feet. You bend more when you're turning or skating long ice.
  16. Watching Christie stand behind Trump as he speaks reminds me of Clemenza waiting for the Godfather to give the order on who to wack.
  17. I hope Kassian doesn't take a run at Eichel. Lehner might have to go Billy Smith on him.
  18. That's all you could find for a cup? In a pinch, use a shoe. I never go over the boards, I always use the door. I pulled my groin or hammy when I used to try it. The compromises of getting older.
  19. I think McDavid is like P Kane and Eichel is like Toews. One has more skill but the other will be the better team leader.
  20. I would rather a team bottom out, acquire top young talent, and then build around them (the Blackhawks model), then be so-so for decades but never in a position to get a top talent (the Bills QB situation). This is the first post-bottom out year. The best players are the young talent. The underachievers have been the veterans, many of whom won't be on the team in two years.
  21. This team has been competitive and entertaining. That last game vs LA was a great game. Lehner has been playing well since his return. In those 3 Cal. Games they were outscored by a total of 4-3. Of course we want more goals and wins, but they're competitive in most games. And Marcus and Cal aren't getting top 6 minutes unless there's more injuries.
  22. Kasich is the only remaining reasonable Republican. He would probably be like George H W Bush. Conservative but willing to compromise.
