  1. An interesting story about how The Wounded Warrior Project is run and spends donations. It appears that it's not as focused on spending on the wounded as much as they claim. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/28/us/wounded-warrior-project-spends-lavishly-on-itself-ex-employees-say.html?action=click&contentCollection=Opinion&module=MostPopularFB&version=Full&region=Marginalia&src=me&pgtype=article
  2. And Hillary was in Iowa today and will be again tomorrow. She can handle the busy schedule as she did as Sec of State. Obama probably figured after casually endorsing Hillary, it would be nice for Bernie to at least experience one day in the Oval Office.
  3. For those that wanted more Democrat debates, you'll be happy to know that NBC has offered to host an additional debate on Feb 4. O'Malley and Clinton have accepted, but Sanders and the DNC are so far not agreeing to participate or sanction. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/clinton-calls-sanders-join-democratic-debate-n505251
  4. With Trump out of the debate, in a desperate attempt to get people to watch, Fox has reached out to Tina Fey to replace him.
  5. Weber paired with Risto tonight. Ugh! That means more ice time for Weber.
  6. Trump stealing the spotlight again, says he's going to skip the unfair Fox moderated debate and instead have a fundraiser for wounded warriors.
  7. Tell Michael it was just business.
  8. Recent poll showed Hillary with 80% black support in SC. I voted for Carter twice in the same election; once by absentee ballot from NY and again in Wisconsin where I was in college and had been a resident long enough to vote. He still lost to Reagan. ????
  9. Possible, but not enough to win. Whereas if the choices were Trump and Sanders, there would be a real chance for him to win. That's the potential match up that he said could convince him to run.
  10. I disagree. Back then you had reasonable options in Clinton and Bush 41, and Perot looked like the crazy one. If this time it was Trump and Sanders, Bloomberg would look like the reasonable one and could get support from moderates in both parties.
  11. He'll run if it looks like the improbable Sanders vs Trump or Cruz. I'd vote for him over those.
  12. College education shouldn't be free, the student should have some skin in the game. Otherwise it could be a 4 year paid-for party. Low interest loans, ability to refinance at lower rates, work-study, and getting colleges to reduce tuition are all legitimate. But free college is not practical or wise.
  13. Wealth disparity doesn't relate to the majority of full time workers getting gov't assistance. Places like Walmart have mostly part time workers. There is a difference between wants and needs. Of course everyone wants what the other person has, but they are not needs (multiple TVs, cable, cell phones, etc.). When I was a kid we had one car, one black and white tv, no cable, one land phone, and one bathroom for 5 people, and we went to public school. My mother took the bus to work part time. But it was what we needed and we did fine. Now my wife and I both work full time with son in college, have more TVs and bathrooms than we need, and we could get by on one salary, but she likes to work and won't let me retire early because I'd enjoy it too much. What got us to this point was education. That's the real issue and factor for upward mobility. 2014 Census Bureau statistics showed the poverty rate for full time workers was 12%. http://poverty.ucdavis.edu/sites/main/files/imagecache/lightbox/main-images/empdist2014.jpg 2012 statistics showed the rate of full time workers participating in means-tested programs was 6.7%. https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2015/cb15-97.html I have that and could. But it depends on what the Masters is in. I have an MBA. It might not be true if the Masters is in poetry or sociology. You have to study what's in demand if your priority is getting a job.
  14. That's quite a claim, which I don't believe. Have any statistics to support that opinion?
  15. I replaced the whole thing, so I might be able to get parts off the older one. But it's a different model so I'm not sure they'll be comparable.
  16. Last week one of our two garage door openers, on my wife's side, started opening and closing on its own for a couple days. There was nobody doing drivebys who might have been doing it, and it wasn't the neighbors. It was about 20 years old so I figured it was time to replace. I put them up originally, but given the cold weather I figured I'd get the new one installed. Went to Lowes to buy it, and they advertised installation for $120. When I asked about it, the guy said they'd first have to come out for $35 and see if it could be installed. I told them I had one, there's nothing to check. He said it was the rule. So I told him I'd like to schedule for the next week. He said they had a backlog and it would be 3 weeks. I said forget it, and did it with my son last weekend before he goes back to college. So on Tuesday as I was leaving for work I closed the door on my side, and it stopped halfway. I crawled under and found the screw driive shaft (Genie) had broken apart. I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet to see if I can fix or have to do another replacement. What are the odds both would go bad at the same time, given I replaced mine about 10 years ago.
  17. Don't forget their best hitter, DLo. I was suprised Risto wasn't out there for that last minute.
  18. I feel like I'm watching an SNL skit, but it's really Palin and Trump.
  19. I don't mind any mistakes Rick makes. It's worth it for the excitement he brings when a goal is scored.
  20. FYI Rick is taking a vacation break and won't be back until March.
  21. And on queue, Republicans are trying to outdo each other on complaining about it. So far Bush is the most out there, saying he would have gone to war to release them. Voters need to consider how the candidates would respond to these type of situations. Diplomacy or war.
  22. That's setting the bar pretty low. I'm not judging, I'm just saying he would have been popular. But I don't think he had a great record as governor. And then there'd be the whole secret child with the maid soap opera. I think the intent of the rule was to keep Brits who might have loyalty to the crown from becoming president. They don't want to provoke them or give additional publicity. It's great that they are getting care packages containing dildos. http://fusion.net/story/254885/the-oregon-militiamen--drive/
  23. I believe that Bill cheated on his wife multiple times, but I believe they were consensual. I believe those that claim otherwise did so for personal reasons (jilted or seeking publicity), or were motivated to do so by political opponents of the Clintons. Flowers and Lewinsky admit they were consensual, and Lewinsky only came forward after being pressured by Ken Starr, who exceeded the scope of his original investigation. Whether Hillary stuck with Bill for personal or political reasons is their business. I would think conservatives would applaud a wife doing the Christian thing and showing forgiveness and reconciliation. I don't think this should be an issue, but if it is because opponents can't beat Hillary on the policies, to be fair the public and media should give equal scrutiny to the dalliances of Trump and Fiorina. If that was allowed, we would have had a President Arnold Schwarzenegger by now.
