  1. Bobby Orr. Changed how the position was perceived. Also I think you have to put Bossy on the list. Extending the list gets to my point. I don't think hype determines who is a generational but who impacts the game during his generation. So that might mean that being hyped or the top pick is not necessary to be considered generational. Prospect yes. Player no as much. Hasek is an example.
  2. Hate this pick. Where's the skill?
  3. I lived in Chicago without a car for 3 years. A isn't a necessity. I have since moved to Evanston where you could get by but it is tougher. Commuting for me is a 5 minute walk and a 25 minute train ride. In one of the other threads someone posted a statement from Murray saying LA is the model. If true, sign me up. That is a brand of hockey I like.
  4. I get that but I would rather have Dave Bolland, if healthy. Same type of player, maybe more post season success.
  5. This is not a provocation but rather a sincere inquiry. Wtf is this obsession with a journeyman like Ott? We have 10 picks in the first two rounds over the next two tears. That kind of talent won't learn anything from Ott or Callahan for that matter. Hossa? Jagr? Iginla? Perhaps. But Ott is a fourth line player on his best day. Is he likeable, sure. But I want to shoot higher than modeling a team around grinders like Ott.
  6. Malkin is pretty good. Tires as well. Sorry he was 3. Eichel reminds me of Modano. He was pretty good. Generational, idk hofer yes.
  7. Quebec/Avs got Forsberg....he was pretty good.
  8. And you do that how? Oh yeah over pay for 3rd liners like Ott, make him the C, and all your worries are over. We need more talent and we won't get enough through fa.
  9. The blues first is a pipe dream. I think they get bounced in round one. Jmho.
  10. Just because your paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you! :P
  11. It will be tied to tv. Florida doesn't fill the building even when they are winning. The Canes same deal. The Canadian market poses a problem for some brands due to licensing issues. Having LA NY, Chi Bos, Ana Wash will help the league compete with the NBA and MLB come June. Fla Van in the finals might not even get an agit in Chicago.
  12. How many visits are permitted? Is it like the nfl where you have to do it individually, or can you bring in 10 ata time so as to not tip your hand as to who you are really interested in?
  13. For some reason I see the league, and in particular Bettman, figuring out a way to get McDavid and Eichel to a big market American team. Buffalo being good serves no purpose for the league. Picture late June 2019 with the Sabres squaring off against Phoenix in the finals. I'm sure ratings would be off the charts!
  14. Thanks for the info. So does that apply to extending deals? Normally, you tear up the prior paper and roll it into the new contract.
  15. I think McCabe comes to Buffalo to see how he measures up against NHL caliber players. Not a make or break moment but a chance to evaluate his progression and path. It also gives them the opportunity to send Risto down to lead a po push. Muy dos centavos.
  16. I think Erhoff will be back...GMTM doesn't seem like one to leave money on the table and unless they rework the deal to eliminate the clawback, he is more valuable here.
  17. Leino, McBain, Leuwen, Flynn, Dagostini, Foligno, Hackett, Larson, Tallinder, Sulzer Mitchell, Konopka, Weber....for starters
  18. BS flag. If he has 100 in 50 next year while Leino is looking for his first you'll be lighting the torches and sharpening the pitchforks to storm bc arena and drag him to the fnc. I do agree that he needs some time but we are beyond the point of worrying about damaging him. If he shows the goods by xmas he comes up.
  19. During telecast Darren Elliot said he would be surprised if McCabe didn't begin his pro career because the NCAA does not allow enough games. Fwiw.
  20. McCabe may be on his way too. North Dakota up 3 2 1:44 to go
  21. Would you rather have Kane or MacKinnon? If Reinhardt projects to Mac you don't trade him for kane, regardless of what he says. I would suspect this is posturing to see what multiple 2s or a two and the Blues one would garner.
  22. I wouldn't count on GMTM moving a top 5 pick for a top 6 forward. The risk is too high on the partners end. A top 5 pick has the potential, but the player has the numbers. It is always a matter of potential for potential when it comes to picks and prospects. The potential of a top 5 pick is also alluring in that the perceived potential or ceiling is higher than that of the player offered.
  23. The 900 pound gorilla that colleges wish to avoid is tax exemption. Unrelated business income from athletics that is deemed not part of the charitable or non profit mission endangers that exemption. The real estate exemption alone allows things like the carrier dome to exist. Without exemption colleges could not maintain there infrastructure and still offer "affordable" tuition. For profit colleges, often distance learning based, reap the benefit of knowing that the brick and mortar brethren have a fixed operating cost that determines their pricing and therefore they do not need to discount their tuition much if at all. The municipalities that host non profit schools incur a huge burden to offer services, mainly public safety, to large populations that add little to the general tax base. It is a very slippery slope.
