  1. If they’re bad I absolutely hope they get them because getting the best player possible in the draft is the goal. But I also hope they’re not bad enough to do so. Maybe a first we get from someone else can do the work for us.
  2. Hello and welcome to Sabrespace! Glad to have you here and looking forward to engaging with you about the team we call the Sabres but other people call a circus. This board is a pretty well-organized group so we have a good number of deeply-discussed threads going at once. If you take a look there’s an offseason game plan thread and a trade speculation thread where people will excitedly talk about these subjects with you. I think the idea of trading one is interesting but very very unlikely. Shoot some of your thoughts over here and we’ll break it down. Again, welcome!
  3. Just bought the first post-pandemic tickets. Gregory Alan Isakov in October. Really looking forward to that one.
  4. I imagine Joker and Drysdale would flip in that situation but that looks delicious. There’s a decent chance Beniers would be there at three anyways. There’s also a decent chance they’d pass on him even if he were there.
  5. I don’t believe Anaheim would but would you do Drysdale and 3OA?
  6. The 3OA would be an appealing piece but you’ve got to get a better piece in an Eichel deal. Comtois is a good young winger but he’s nothing to write home about. I guess maybe Perreault could be a nice surprise but I’m not quite sure yet.
  7. If that’s the Eichel trade I’d be absolutely livid. Like throwing ***** and considering abandoning the team angry.
  8. To be fair several of the players you just named have accomplished nothing. 😛 I believe odds are you correct on Beniers. I like him and would be excited if we ended up with another high pick and landed him. I wouldn't be all that upset if he were the pick at one. But that doesn't mean people have to be wrong about Power.
  9. You don’t have to contradict every good thing said about Power. His reach is a very strong skill and several scouting reports mention that he disposes of many zone entries and offensive opportunities because of his stick play.
  10. The difference between 62.5% and 90% is not “slightly lower.” It’s the exact evidence proving the hype train is not nearly as massive as you’re acting like it is. You have to be more willing to be wrong. As someone who is never wrong I don’t know what that’s like but I’m sure it’s hard.
  11. ‘Member when you constantly shouted 90% of the board wanted Power?
  12. The hype train is not as strong as you think it is, you just don’t like him and are overly obsessed with a single prospect so anytime someone says a positive thing about anyone else you just start shouting “hype train hype train hype train.” I promise you thousands of people who view Power as number one aren’t just making it up in their heads. You might be wrong.
  13. They could be right you know.
  14. Maybe. Or maybe Power is the better player for a variety of reasons. Maybe. Maybe not.
  15. No clue where to put this so I'll put it here ...
  16. Just circling around to this. Some notable stuff I liked from it: He shows a ton of confidence in the interview. He notes on multiple occasions he felt like he belonged among the pros there and didn't need to get amped up by any particular person/player/coach/moment to play at a high level. You see him say he's confident in his game and has improved a lot but also acknowledges the work ahead of him to take the next step.
  17. Matt Beniers is probably going to be the pick because he looks just like a young Freddy Krueger here who literally has sabres coming out of his hands
  18. I don't want to derail the thread here but I'm curious: what would you put Power's floor as?
  19. Last cups for the remaining teams: Tampa - last year Montreal - 1993 Isles - 1983 Vegas - never Hoping Tampa doesn't spoil this for some longing fanbase (okay, Vegas doesn't count either but I'm fine with them)
  20. No doubt. The failure is owned by both sides here, though. The franchise probably deserves more of the blame.
  21. Don’t say that out loud other GMs could be reading this.
  22. No Sabres insider is reporting anything about the team not wanting to move on. Friedman is reporting they do. Chad is interpreting Friedman’s report as a leak from Eichel’s camp to push an agenda and only inferring further about the Sabres, not actually reporting anything. That’s why I was confused.
  23. I don’t have access to the medicals but I highly highly doubt there’s any concern he will never play hockey at a high level again.
  24. That’s not going to happen. Worst case he turns into a good number one center and never becomes an elite number one.
  25. He's probably right above or below Turgeon. I’d tend to put him right above him but didn’t get to watch him play in Buffalo so I certainly may be off.
