  1. Perused around the twitterverse to see if I could gauge how some fans value Samson: Note: Zacha is only a year and half younger than Samson. Other teams with fans who mentioned interest: Golden Knights, Canucks, Flames, Blue Jackets, Flyers (several), Avalanche, Bruins, Kings, Wild (several), Canadiens, Ducks, Oilers. Obviously fans don’t represent actual NHL GMs but if this is reflective of the interest that haul should be massive. Eichel will still get a better return because he is a clear cut number one center and an elite one.
  2. That’s insane. No, Samson Reinhart does not have more value than Jack Eichel. But it does arouse me a little bit thinking about getting a huge package for both.
  3. They have plenty of inside sources. That’s where they get to these points. They’ve made it very clear that what they do is take what they’re hearing around the league and report it. Say Jack is traded to the Golden Knights. That doesn’t mean their reports that the Kings were hot and cold on Eichel were false. That doesn’t mean reported interest by the Rangers and Ducks was false. Transactions in pro sports almost always go on a very winding road before they are final. So when a guy reports that one team is interested and then a few weeks later says another team is interested it may all be true (it also may all be false or partially false). Same goes for Reinhart and the Merzlikins and the report on the Kings being interested. I don’t know why anyone would think those two things couldn’t be speculated on simultaneously.
  4. There is no reason to move Rasmus Dahlin. He is a “now” piece.
  5. I mean he literally is “old lady gossip” and never presents himself as anything else. He said from the beginning he was making the Merzlikins thing up and that it was a concept.
  6. If we could somehow get Zegras AND Drysdale I’d be willing to give a lot (not Cozens, Quinn or Dahlin but guys like Olafsson, Borgen, Bryson, Samuelsson, Johnson, Johnson, the vaccine side effects that comes with the last two, whatever else within reason)
  7. Fun thought: the Sabres and Taylor Hall should be equally hated by the fanbase for how the Taylor Hall saga went down. ***** him and ***** them. Now I hope they both find what they’re looking for.
  8. I said they were grimy and said I don’t want them to win because of last year, not because they got frisky with Kuchy. I don’t hate them for it. I just think it’s lame.
  9. It did indeed workout with Reinhart.
  10. The rules should be changed and while Tampa absolutely used the rules given to them I still think it’s grimy. Same as the Patriots doing shady things that are within the rules but still not within the normal flow of how a team/franchise operates. I’d be fine with Vegas vs whoever. I’m not all that interested in the Habs vs either team but would rather they win than Tampa (because they won last year, not because of the info above).
  11. I prefer Power and don’t imagine that will change. Beniers is the only other prospect I’m currently interested in seeing as the first pick. Beyond that I’d be disappointed with the caveat that I don’t actually know squat.
  12. You are correct. I got too excited about Lindholm and Drysdale separately and just lumped them in together. Can’t afford to not get at least one NHL-now center in a deal. I did, for the record, mention that other pieces would need to come our way but that wouldn’t be the center we need.
  13. That is not what is happening here but I agree.
  14. I know people who live there and have driven through probably 40 times. Still can’t.
  15. I still can’t believe people actually live there.
  16. Sorry not everyone loves ya boy
  17. The reason would be if the player is better. Most people believe he is.
  18. There are like ten combos I’d be willing to do with Anaheim. The one you suggested is probably reasonable if Lindholm has an extension signed (it’s a definite no if he doesn’t). If you can get one of Zegras or Drysdale on the table then you can add some reasonable combo of third overall, Comtois, Josh Manson (if Zegras, not Drysdale, is involved), other early picks/high end prospects. Both definite yes deals (that Anaheim probably wouldn’t do): Zegras, Manson, 3rd for Eichel and Risto. Drysdale, Comtois, 3rd for Eichel and Risto. If you could get the first two pieces from those deals and another valuable piece like their second this year I’d be in.
  19. You’re not going to get Byram AND Newhook but one of them is definitely the starter. I don’t believe they’re in the Byfield/Lafreniere/Zegras/Drysdale level but they’re just below that so the rest of the deal has to be very strong. Looking at their roster I don’t know how they make a deal with us unless they include both the big prospects but I don’t imagine that’s reasonable. I also don’t know how the money works for them to add Eichel AND keep Landeskog. Imagine a forward group that features Eichel, MacKinnon, Landeskog and Rantanen? Would that be the best top four forwards for a single team? (That’s an honest question because I don’t know but that’s fantastic) I LOVE Tuch and agree he has to be in the deal. I don’t know if they have much more to offer that appeals to me, though. So it’s likely a no there.
  20. If we ended up with something like Drysdale, Comtois, Lindholm and another first (from either team depending on what piece(s) we also include) with some other mostly ancillary but beneficial pieces for Eichel and Reinhart I’d be ecstatic. (Update: Wookie caught my error - this would not make me ecstatic because there’s no NHL center coming back)
  21. If you go for Drysdale in an Eichel deal then you have to either extend Reinhart or focus on a veteran center in exchange for him (Lindholm/Monahan come to mind).
  22. One of the better songwriters of his genre right now, methinks.
  23. All of this. Prior to the Eichel rumblings/departure Samson was our one piece to shake things up for a lot of value. That’s still true but the return might net a different direction than it would’ve two months ago.
  24. It was mostly sarcastic. I don’t imagine anyone that has a real chance of being high in the lottery the next two years will be giving up their pick. Would take some Sharks-level disaster hockey to get there.
