He is known to have excellent skating and puck control on the blue line which allows for a ton of controlled exits and entries from the back end. He showed this at Worlds and it’s why he was given as many minutes as anyone.
-
A ton of reports on Power talks about his excellent skating and confidence handling the puck but ok. I’ve never seen a report on Beniers say he has a single elite skill.
-
While the velocity is clearly different this video does nothing to show it. It means nothing to me. Allen got the ball out quicker and was very slightly more accurate but that’s part of what comes with working with your receiver for a much longer time than Trubisky has.
-
They just walked through a terrible division. I’d be surprised if they even sort of compete with the winner of Colorado/Vegas
-
False. We have a pipeline. It’s just super leaky and is backed up with a whole lot of TP (toilet paper? Terry Pegula? Take your pick!)
-
I want Power and am excited to get him at first overall, but I also enjoy the conversation over trades that will never happen because there is very little entertaining conversation to be had about this team currently. I'm not convinced Seth Jones is flat out bad and because everyone who says he's bad just throws charts and zero other evidence out there it makes me hate charts.

But I do think you could be on to something in a move down from 1 to 5 and acquiring meaningful pieces.
-
To be fair it’s not that far off. It’s Patrice Bergeron-Cleary. He wanted it corrected but said it got too far. At some point in his younger years in official paperwork a team or league official forgot to add the Cleary portion. I believe he said he asked the NHL to fix it early on in his career and it never happened so he just ditched the effort.
-
And they didn’t even get his name right (in fact, they still don’t. His name isn’t Patrice Bergeron)
-
You literally said “How about trading down to 5 (CBJ) for one of their goalies and their first next year (Shane Wright sweepstakes)? Maybe throw Risto there too.” So you’re trading down to five (meaning getting 5OA) and the other pieces. That’s what I was responding to.
-
I love that the NHL rushed them into back-to-back games to help catch up to other series’ and that one wraps first.
-
That draft is damn good so it’d be an interesting conversation about first overall. Ryan Getzlaf, Shea Weber, Joe Pavelski, Marc-Andre Fleury. Other guys that are just outside of that conversation: Eric Staal, Thomas Vanek, Ryan Suter, Jeff Carter, Zach Parise, Brent Burns, Ryan Kesler, Corey Perry, Dustin Brown, Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Seabrook. *****.

One more - get it done.
-
You’re not getting that much to go from 1 to 5 and Columbus isn’t dealing their pick unprotected (they know where they stand). But Risto and 1 for 5 and a goalie (or Jones as dudacek suggested) could be something to look at. You’d want a Jones extension signed, though.
-
I think his game translates well to the NHL, as well. High floor player.
-
I only know this because of J. Cole if I’m being honest Absolutely. If he is McAvoy I’m all in. I don’t know if he will be but that’d make me ecstatic. If he weren’t in Boston he’d be one of my top targets in an Eichel deal.

*hand twitches over holstered gun as tumbleweed rolls between last place and the other 31 teams above us in the standings and western music plays* Always appreciate this perspective
-
I don’t remember who noted it but we don’t know that Jack is broken. Teams will get a chance to review the medicals here and will each got an opportunity to make a measured decision about where they value him. It’s hard to speculate without really knowing what’s in that review but there’s a good chance some teams will pass and others will not.
-
In an ideal world the Kings will basically have the choice of Byfield + a little more or Turcotte + a LOT more. Whatever they prefer. They have the pieces to satisfy us in either scenario.
-
You take the best player available but you also hope the BPA is Clarke and not Hughes if you’re forced into another defenseman (RHD). Ideally and likely it’s a forward. I’d hope for Kent Johnson, Mason McTavish or Nikita Chibrikov. This, assuming guys like Eklund and Guenther are already off the board.

I think today’s tweet is a heaping pile of nothing but is also likely a means of responding to Sabres fans who do nothing but respond to his tweets asking for news.
-
I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee ...
-
This isn’t just me stroking Power, I just haven’t seen ones of other players
-
Agreed but I just meant in the context of what was being said above and where the value stands this year compared to others. I’m happy to get Owen Power, regardless.
-
Only because the OP in said thread misunderstood the tweet. It wasn’t a rumor about him not wanting to be here, at all. The tweet was deleted because the joke was a miss.
