Matthew Collor suggested on WGR this morning that Pysyk should demand a trade. His reasoning was that Pysyk was kept in the AHL last year for the obvious purpose of the tank, and he seemed to take it well. Now that the tank is over he suddenly isn't playing despite being healthy and better than probably every other dman but Ristolaienen. So what gives? I disagree that he should demand a trade, but I understand what he's getting at. Maybe he's being held out for a trade. Maybe he's still got some hesitations from the injury.

I'd still like to know what other prospect pool would still be great if you graduated players the caliber of Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Jake McCabe and, to an extent, Mark Pysyk. I'm not particularly worried. Unlike some others, though, I'm willing to take draft picks for some of our lower-level vets in order to build up the safety net of a good pipeline.

What is this based on? Drouin is actually producing fine in the NHL which is probably why he demanded a deal in the first place. 40 points in 89 games isn't spectacular, but it's not terrible for a 20 year old. In my opinion, Pysyk's absolute ceiling is a second-pairing righty. Drouin's absolute ceiling is a first-line playmaker. I think his chances of having an impact on your team at or above Pysyk's ceiling are good to very good.

On Pysyk for Drouin - it, do it. I'm bored. On Tyson Barrie - no on Risto for him but absolutely yes on a serious pursuit if he somehow becomes available.

The NHL should be ashamed of themselves. John Scott is an All Star. Absolutely no way around it. He was voted in by the fans in the system that the NHL created to select All Stars. Now they desperately wanted him out and asked him to back out? Pathetic. Arizona also apparently asked him to hack out which is also a shame, and they also apparently begged Montreal to take him in this deal so they could rid themselves of the situation. He's also expecting twins soon which probably makes this situation worse for him. Fix the system next year, don't punish the player.

Andre's situation was different from Ed's. Ed is an actual coach with an actual position whereas Andre was placed in Buffalo as part of the NFL's mentorship program for guys who want to become coaches. The mentorship ends at the end of the preseason.

Players are still like used cars to me... Once you drive them off the lot they lose value. I don't think he's worth a top ten pick right now. There's a ton of value, to me, in having a guy come straight to your system from the draft. When a guy has spent a few years in another franchise who knows what he's been told that you'll have to correct or tweak. I would give them Girgensons, though. Probably Pysyk. Certainly not both.

The Lightning reportedly want a young NHL RHD, so we're likely going to need to send them Pysyk. But I think they'd still be interested in young forwards... My guess is it will need to be Girgensons or Pysyk. And I don't think they'll have interest in Bogosian because it's been reported they can't take money back.

Arizona said he will be called up again prior to the game. If he isn't in the NHL then he isn't eligible for the game.
