Big part of the reason I think Florida will be desperate to keep Campbell. He's still very good. Could extend him for maybe two years to get him to retirement. Jagr, too.

The only other worthwhile FA LHD are Brian Campbell and Alex Goligosmi. Still don't hate the idea of bringing Soupy back if we need a stop-gap on the left side. He's still playing at a very high level. But he's got a good thing going in Florida.

You can rate it higher all you want, but just playing in a better league doesn't mean anything. He's got 5-7-12 in 31 games whereas Matthews has 14-11-25 in 22 games. That's a huge production difference.

It's the NHL draft. Maybe seven guys in the entire thing will play within two years of being drafted... That's why.

I don't think the plan was to win either. I don't think individual game results were a part of any plan this season...

I don't think you should ever draft for need in hockey. Position should only come into play if you're drafting at the very top and find that two guys are equal on your boards.

I don't think anybody is trying not to win anymore... I just don't think they find the results to be of major consequence right now. Wins would be preferred, I assume, but it's about figuring out what's best long-term above all else right now. Wins would be good for the future because you don't want a bunch of losers forever, though.

Matthews is a center. It's very possible that he's better than Eichel. You're not drafting him as Eichel's prop.

I don't think we're getting either of those with what we have. There's not much Pittsburgh has that I would want. They have a few college prospects who will be leaving school after this season but nothing I'm crazy about.
