  2. So this might be an interesting exercise if anybody else is willing to get in on it. The Leafs did their top 100 because this year is their centennial season. The Sabres will cross the 50-year mark in 2020. So let's do what we did for the best players in the NHL, but this will, instead, be for the Sabres best 50 players of all time. This is ONLY players who played for the Sabres in their time with the team. Regardless, let's kick it off a number one. I don't believe there's any argument for a player other than Hasek or Perreault so they get the first poll. Whoever loses this poll by the end of the day will move in to the number two slot and we'll take nominations for the third-best player (you can nominate at any time.   8. Because I've got a bunch of things I'm taking care of financially for the next few months. I spent carelessly (without touching a penny of the money I have set for savings) this year for the betterment of myself (boy has it worked), so I'm capping a few things off and then getting stuff around starting day one next year.
  9. I am. Technically. I have a savings account at my bank that I've put money into but haven't touched. I'm going to sit down with somebody in the new year and allocate that money to something that'll actually do things.

  12. This is exaggerated but close to the truth. It'd be nice if Girgensons and/or Foligno and a 2nd would get it done, but it probably won't. I'm not willing to give my 2017 first.
  13. It's going to hurt a little unless we can miraculously get him for Girgensons and a 2nd. That wouldn't hurt at all. Problem is we're already very thin at forward so we might have to then make a move for a forward. Waiver wire? Who is still available?

  15. The actual content of the emails was a discussion about how conservative Catholics employ their own version of Catholicism that uses the Bible as a means to oppress. I could see why Catholics would be a little upset over what was said but it's no huge travesty.

  19. Almost forgot about this point and it's an important one. This is why I'm still happy we have a GM who will make this move. Purely in assets swapped we lost, it doesn't matter who the board wanted gone because we're not the GM and we're not paid to make the right move. Myers and Stafford have both played well in Winnpeg (yes, I know Stafford was gone regardless and neither were doing much here). Armia is growing. Then there's Lemieux and the pick. Asset to asset it's a negative if you can take off your Sabres glasses for a minute. But the actual end result (securing Eichel) could fairly show it as a wash.
  20. I don't think it's unfair to say this trade was a very bad one. A risk I'm happy our GM took, but it looks bad right about now.
  21. Very few teams trace their first. There is literally no reason to think, at this point, that the team won't have a first. And if they don't have a first they'll have a second. And/or third. And so on.
  22. I didn't notice a whole lot in Nelson tonight. I did notice Risto. In a very negative light.

  24. People, there is a draft in 2017 no matter how we do. We will be making a selection regardless of whether it is high lottery or not. I know it was started partially as a joke about the team but this thread is good. You can learn about prospects.
  25. We could acquire Fowler before and after Kane. It's harder after Kane (as beerme notes).
