  1. You're right about Pu projecting out to the wing, but the bold isn't right. There's ALWAYS a need for centers in the pipeline. I don't care if you've got McDavid, Eichel, Reinhart AND Matthews as your four centers. Asplund is the one top prospect we have the projects out to a center right now, though. And having centers in the pipeline is always good. They can play center when needed and fill winger spots if you've already got talent up the middle.
  2. He's probably going to be back before the Bills game.
  3. Torn meniscus for Big Ben. That's going to be a huge blow for them.
  4. And you have artists like Common who do the same thing as Vince (tell stories) but in a different style more pleasing to most audience but just as unsettling if you're paying any attention. He performs "A Letter to the Free" at the White House version of Tiny Desk Concerts (I HIGHLY recommend this series, cool small setting concerts of great, natural performers). The introduction and song starts around 4:50. http://www.npr.org/2016/10/03/496433228/common-tiny-desk-concert-at-the-white-house
  5. I've rethought the Fowler trade: acquire him and keep Kulikov on the third line. McCabe has impressed me and I think he's definitely worthy of a second-line spot going forward. Protect Risto, McCabe and Fowler without hesitation. If Kulikov ends up having a great year then protect Risto, McCabe, Fowler, Kulikov, O'Reilly, Okposo, Kane and one other forward (Larsson, Girgensons, Foligno, Ennis in that conversation).
  6. I missed this post, but he is definitely very smart and aware. One of my favorite songs by him is Hands Up. Came out in 2014. I'm going to link it below, but I have some scattered thoughts on the song and similar "gang rap" in general: So many people dismiss rap because of its often violent nature. It sure sounds like it's a lot of bragging about the ability to and history of being violent, but it's not that. It's their way of giving context to the life they're forced to live growing up in rough neighborhoods. A lot of the "popped-out" rap you hear on mainstream radio stations is bragging about sex and drugs, but music like what Vince Staples (who doesn't smoke or drink) puts out is just storytelling. Vince Staples is from Long Beach which is a brutal neighborhood. He's a Crip. Self-described gang-banger. A lot of people complain about the violent nature of the music and the "fight the police" mentality, but it's a reality they face just as the many white bands who have written lyrics discussing bringing down governmental institutions (Rage Against the Machines, for example). It's no different. They're fighting against what they believe is holding them down. He talks about police and the hood holding him down. Prima Donna is his latest album which talks a lot about Long Beach and how he's staying true to who he was but is never going back. Music was his only way out and it's the only way a lot of people from the hood are able to tell what happens on a daily basis as they're not given a platform otherwise. A ton of other complaints about rap come from the lingo and pronunciations, but let's be real we all loved Rock the Kashbah and had no clue what they were saying. Even if you hate rap. Even if you can't stand it, just give this a close listen. Listen to the lyrics and take it in from the standpoint of hearing somebody out who wants you to have context about the life they've lived. This verse is so well done. The last line gives me chills every single time. Deangelo Lopez and Tyler Woods Just a couple they gunned down around the hood I guess the pigs split wigs for the greater good 'Cause I ain't seen them lock a swine up yet At the most they reassign 'em to prevent protest Just your color is enough to get you under arrest Strong hand to the law got me feelin' oppressed If you flippin', kill a fifty, then you get in a chair Payin' taxes for some in' clowns to ride around Whoopin' niggas , scared to man up Handcuffs givin' niggas gashes on the wrist I used to lift my fist to fight the power with Older homie told me in his day the pigs was plantin' bricks In the trunks of 's Chevrolets them traffic stops and Raidin' homes without a warrant Shoot him first without a warning And they expect respect and non-violence I refuse the right to be silent
  7. Gorges totally wasn't ready for McDavid to fight back. Also: McCabe has been fantastic in both games.
  8. I see this as a real possibility, but I don't think it's fair for me to assume considering how often I immediately assume wrong actions allegedly perpetrated by the GOP are actually done by them. Until I know otherwise I will assume this was legitimately motivated by angry GOP opposition.
  9. That save by Lehner was sneaky great. Seemed to be aware that the players were bearing down on him so he gave it a little extra kick to push it away from the scrum.
  10. I liked Kris Baker's response to that goal: "holy Mouly!"
  11. And they should've won that game. The Jets are 1-4. They're really, really bad. The Bills have been borderline unstoppable since.
  12. https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/787786702714789888 CBS NewsVerified account‏@CBSNews Police: Local GOP office in North Carolina vandalized, firebombed http://cbsn.ws/2dleepK
  13. Miami, Miami, Jacksonville, Cleveland, New York Jets. That's five games they absolutely should win. That would get them to 9-7. Then you have Oakland who has been much improved but has looked vulnerable. Seattle's offensive line is putrid and we've got the personnel to take advantage of that. Plus passing isn't our forte so their formidable secondary isn't a huge worry. Cincinnati has looked pretty pitiful all year. Talented roster but definitely winnable. Pittsburgh has been inconsistent and their defense is brutal.
  14. For the 50th time it very clearly has. And if conversations aren't enough how about the action it has promoted? $1 million from Kaepernick himself (PLUS his jersey sales), $1 million from the team and likely more from others who were inspired by Kaepernick. For sake stop trying to discredit everything black people do.
  15. If they win next week there's no reason they shouldn't be at least 9-7.
  16. The shot was never above the crossbar and there wasn't anybody near interfering with Talbot. Good goal.
  17. What a shot from O'Reilly oh my god! Take THAT, Colorado.
  18. Nylander had a goal and an assist in a loss today. I wish Rochester would get it together and start winning, would rather instill that in our kids.
  19. Let Lehner worry about the shooter in that spot
  20. Lehner deserves some fault for both goals but Franson is brutal.
  21. Were you asleep from 96 to 2013? http://www.nhluniforms.com/Oilers/Oilers.html
  22. Gionta gets the puck with space and rockets it into Talbot's stomach
  23. Lord these Oilers jerseys are prety
  24. What a great sports day so far
  25. Awesome puck movement there, great goal!
