There isn’t a useful player on Tampa that we could get for that price.
-
Callahan to a third team is very likely but that team would not be giving value to Ottawa, they’d be receiving value in the deal. The Rangers have been mentioned a lot in getting Callahan back. Just kind of winging what the deal might look like: Tampa gets: Erik Karlsson Rangers get: Callahan, Tampa 2020 1st, maybe a mid-level prospect Ottawa gets: Anthony Cirelli, Cal Foote, Taylor Raddysh, Tampa 2019 first That’s probably not the package Ottawa gets because I think they’ll demand one of Point/Sergachev (and Tampa should be willing if that’s what gets the deal done). If it’s Point then take out Cirelli and Raddysh, if it’s Sergachev then take out Foote. I also imagine Ottawa will want a bigger pick haul than that.

All they’ve got to do is unload Callahan and they’re good for this offseason. It gets a little trickier next offseason, but they’ve got a few UFA defenseman coming off the books that they can replace with cheaper options. They’re working magic over there.

Just imagine if he had changed to number 1...

That’s fair. I actually had 23-21-Thompson as the top three RW in that order first but I do think they want Thompson getting top six minutes early.

UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year
Hoss replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Yes, probably over 75% of players who are drafted as centers move to wing. Patrick Sharp is the example I always use when talking about Reinhart. But Mittelstadt has the toolset to be a puck dominant pivot. He’s a center just like Eichel was a center coming up. If he moves to wing for an extended period it’s disappointing unless he’s an All Star winger. -
Sheary - Eichel - Thompson Rodrigues - Mittelstadt - Reinhart Sobotka - Berglund - Okposo Wilson - Girgensons - Baptiste Scandella - Ristolainen Dahlin - Bogosian McCabe - Nelson Hutton/Ullmark I can do this every four days and give a different combination, but I think this is the group of players in some combination minus the possibility of Pominville instead of Baptiste.

Casey is a center. If this team fux him into becoming a wing too I might shoot him just to save him. And I think there are some players who were completely something else until they met Dan Bylsma. “Good.” “Useful.” “Prospect.” All of those things are now just “Girgensons.” -

If I see the word sheltered one more time I might do a backflip off the peace bridge. Also, Mittelstadt is a Center who will play center. -
Did they take Okposo out back and shoot him?

Justin Bailey, Nicolas Baptiste and Casey Nelson all changed numbers last year. There’s a pretty extensive precedent here. Both for star players and role players. I’m stoked to see 9 and the C on Jack.

I’ve read Boston and NY. Rumblings are fun.

I think he’s going to push his way to the Bruins or Rangers.

Phoenix/Arizona isn’t an expansion franchise. .63 PPG and never eclipsed a PPG in a single season. If he had justified the contract he got when the whole league was chasing him he might’ve improved his chances, but if I’m making the decisions he’s not even close. And I like him. He was a great leader and most of his game was outside of production (I know I just cited his stats but it’s the easiest thing to point to).

I think we have to just let PA go here. He made his mind up on this one.

Iginla no doubt. Doan and Nash? No way.

I like Sam and hate to do this but I’m getting memories of Cody Hodgson’s six year deal. -
Jersey number changes (without changing teams) I can think of: - Jochen Hecht from 71 to 55 - Jordan to 45 (12 doesn’t count, wasn’t his choice) - Kobe to 24 - Amar’e Stoudemire to 1 - Arvidsson to 33 - Bobby Ryan from 6 to 9 - Maurice Rocket Richard 15 to 9 after 2 years - Adrian Peterson tried changing to 24 with the Vikings but gave up when the league tried charging him $1 million Theres an endless number of players who have paid for jersey numbers. It’s not odd. We’re just programmed to find the worst even when there is none.

Isn’t every player? He’s worth a good contract. I’m not going to give him crazy money (less than Kane).
-
I agree completely with the first part. Certainly not with the second. It means exactly what I think it means. I know we all want to think they’re just dumb gladiators but that’s not the case.

No chance. Also: if there were an extension in place I’d give up a decent amount for Patches. McCabe, a first and a middle of the pack prospect.

Which Sabres will take a big step BACK this season?
Hoss replied to Ho-Chi-Sock's topic in The Aud Club
If this is our expectation for Eichel then it's a disaster. Luckily, it's not. He was just under a PPG last season. Expectations should fully be 90 points with potential for more. -
Professional sports players are cerebral types. What's going on in their heads is as important as what's going on with their bodies. If Eichel feels more comfortable in 9 he should take it. Some players have other ways they feel comfortable and don't care about a number, but they absolutely have something you'd find equally silly if they were entirely open books. If walking into the locker room and seeing #9 Eichel in his locker makes any difference for Eichel I've got absolutely no problem with it.

The simple answer to this is nobody. They've had so few good players that there's only a handful of actual candidates. Girgensons and Beaulieu are not included because, well, they're already terrible.
