Bold Sabres Prediction for the 2022-23 Seasonmatter2003 replied to Doohickie's topic in The Aud Club Sabres are eliminated from playoff contention in the final week of the season, but finish above 87 points on the year. Skinner and Thompson are twin 40 goal scorers. Dahlin is a Norris finalist. Comrie plays much better in net than most people expect and is above average in goalie metrics. I don't think I like the Hutton comparison...Hutton was at the age where goalies start declining. Comrie is just entering his prime.

Plenty of teams need to shed salary before season startmatter2003 replied to ddaryl's topic in The Aud Club I don't trust Miller who performed 27 points better than his previous high to repeat that again. Most likely he just posted his career best stat line, they are going to ask a lot for him...some team is going to be suckered into "buying at the peak"

General Sabres FA discussion thread (f/k/a Random free agent posts)matter2003 replied to Archie Lee's topic in The Aud Club Really like what Adams is doing...more sneaky good under the radar signings that provide depth and grit without hamstringing the Sabres with big contracts. If Comrie can perform at half his level from last year he will be a steal.

Sabres Sign UFA Goalie Eric Comrie 2 Years 1.8 Million AAVmatter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club I am talking about in terms of when to expect a statistical drop off and/or his abilities decreasing. Sabres basically got him right in the prime when they could have expected his stats to fall off a cliff and to nobody's surprise they did.

Sabres Sign UFA Goalie Eric Comrie 2 Years 1.8 Million AAVmatter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club Well I've got news for you, no matter who they signed this year they probably weren't getting there so I guess you'll need to see how he performs as a regular first before you dismiss him out of hand. Wonder if you did the same thing with Hasek when they trade for him. Not comparing him to Hasek at all, but just saying... don't dismiss someone out of hand when they performed well in a more limited role. There is a chance he might not be able to handle a bigger role, but there is also a chance he might be able to. And I don't want to hear the Carter Hutton comparison...Hutton was at the end of his prime when he got here Comrie is 27 and just entering his.

Sabres Sign UFA Goalie Eric Comrie 2 Years 1.8 Million AAVmatter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club Why? For goalies who played a minimum of 15 games last year, Comrie was 2nd in the NHL to the Rangers Shesterkin at goals saved above expected per 60 minutes. Compared to the trash we had on our team last year ranking 51st for Anderson and 57th for Tokarski out of 67 this is a huge upgrade regardless of small sample size. Do some research before posting nonsensical drivel.

Sabres Sign UFA Defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin 2 Years 2.75 Million AAVmatter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club Adams continues to make these sneaky good under the radar signings that are going to pay off in a "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" way

Sabres Sign Vinnie Hinostroza to 1 year 1.7 Million Dollar Extensionmatter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club I like it...dude was a gnat on the forecheck and brings some secondary scoring

He finished first in two categories when doing drills with the puck...that is impressive. Basically he is better with the puck on his stick than not.

What is your Grade for the Sabres Draft?matter2003 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club What does it matter? They are meaningless until 5 or 6 years when we see what we have.

I'm interested in why they selected C 3 picks in a row...was it truly best player available on their board or did they specifically target the position? Seems like Savoie was a no brainer pick, but why the other 2 on top of him?
-
Does it really matter? He is terrible. He should never play in the NHL again.
-
Listening to the WGR interview with the director of amateur scouting they were contemplating taking him with one of their first round picks...said the dropoff between him and the next goalie was huge in their minds and were always taking him at 41 and the only question was if they were picking him earlier.

Senators Goalie Matt Murray says No to a Sabres Tradematter2003 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club Why wouldn't the Sabres have the Sens ask the player before they bothered working so hard on a trade? Seems like that would be the logical starting point before either side wasted a bunch of time. If you watched the last 3 months of the season, not sure how you couldn't be excited for what is to come with this team. The past is the past, this team is going places within a few years.

Additional off-ice responsibilities for Tage Thompsonmatter2003 replied to Doohickie's topic in The Aud Club Might have a drop off this year due to lack of sleep

Sabres need to get a goalie other than Anderson.

Wonder if he is going to make his own stick from a tree that got hit by lightning and name it the "Savoie Special" 😆

Unless they are already out of the country and not planning to go back.

I can do the spreadsheet but it will be a spare time thing so the results might be a little delayed 😂

you could easily set up a spreadsheet to do all of it for you rather quickly

Should be that everyone is scored by the number of picks away that player is from where you have him drafted, lowest score wins. So for instance if you pick someone 10th and he gets drafted 17th, you get a 7 for him. If you pick someone 15th and he gets drafted 10th, you get a 5 for him. Obviously picking someone exactly where they are drafted would give a 0. I feel this is much better scoring system in terms of showing how accurate a person is overall. Why should someone who projects a player to go 12th but he goes 14th get the same score as someone who projects him to go 30th? In the original system, both players would have the same score, they would both get a point. In my system person A would get 2 and person B would get 16, accurately showing one person was far closer than the other. Could even put a weight favoring later picks since they would be harder to get right than the early picks.

What"s An NHL Draft Pick Worth? Analytics revealedmatter2003 replied to PotentPowerPlay21's topic in The Aud Club It's always amazed me that teams will draft player in the middle of the first round with the expectation they will be a solid third line player. Imagine the NFL...drafting a player at 15 overall hoping he is a good backup player that gets some snaps. Not sure why there is such a disparity between sports.
