  1. wouldn't be the first time the Sens were a bad matchup for the Sabres...I believe in the year we beat them in the playoffs on Pominville's OT winner that we lost every game to them in the regular season.
  2. The one thing I will say is that outside the breakaways and stupid giveaways in their own zone they played a very nice defensive structure...there were not players skating around by themselves, they were covered up pretty nicely by Sabre players.
  3. Yeah that was freaking nice...that puck went into the net so fast I thought he kicked it or it hit his shin and bounced off him and into the net
  4. Just "OK" huh? I guess stopping 4 breakaways, a 2-0 and a few 2 on 1's and was just "OK"? He is basically the only reason the Sabres were not down 5-1 going into the 3rd and why Ottawa never tied the game late. Team had too many giveaways in their own end trying to make "cute" exit plays...like Dahlin dropping the pass to the other team near the blue line to set up a 2 on 0 the other way on Anderson.
  5. Better for the Amerks maybe? Dude sucks
  6. I get the sense in 2 or 3 years the Sabres and Sens are going to revive their epid playoff battles of years past. The two youngest teams in the league but they have lots of talent ready to blossom.
  7. And tried to skate through 4 dudes instead of dumping it in.
  8. They seem pretty positionally sound so far in their own zone. Obviously some dumb giveaways but overall they seem to be in the right spots much more often than not.
  9. Careless sloppy play at our own line...no reason to drop a pass to nobody there which ends up as a penalty when the pass gets intercepted... A little too cute
  10. Still seen that way in the locker room and by everyone else in the media as well forcing the question to be asked constantly. No distractions.
  11. I got a feeling...that Buffalo is going to the Super Bowl...
  12. Ullmark was constantly getting hurt for long stretches of time tho...the guarantees in life? Death, taxes and Ullmark being out for more than a month at some point during the year.
  13. I am not sure how people are complaining about a 7 year $30 million contract for Samuelsson which averages out to $4.3 million a year when we payed Risto $5.4 million a year. IMO, Samuelsson is a better player right now.
  14. So you'd rather have a lame duck coach in the last year of his contract behind the bench? That would send a great message to the team.
  15. I'm expecting somewhere in the 87-90 point range this year and being in the hunt, although on the outside looking in, until the final week or two.
  16. Next year...it's coming. Forget meatballs...I want to eat, eat, eat Apples and Bananas...
  17. Reportedly is a 2 year extension worth around $2 million a year.
  18. I can't comment on how I know what I know, but that's an accurate assessment. Although there is fear "normal" might be a lot different than what it was a year ago.
  19. Wow! They are locking up their young players early...smart as long as they turn out good.
  20. I like it...he is exactly what this team has needed for a long time. Can't wait to se his and the teams growth this year and over the next few years as we rise like a Phoenix from the ashes.
  21. That rarely works in the NHL. Plenty of prior cases where this backfires and not a lot of cases where it works. I'd prefer bringing up quality players that are ready like the Sabres are doing.
  22. I hope not...Anderson had some of the worst metrics in the NHL last year....he was 53rd out of 74 goalies with a minimum of 10 games played in terms of goals saved above expected per 60 minutes at -0.28 goals. In other words, Anderson costs the Sabres an extra goal basically every 4 games he plays versus what he should allow. Comrie on the other hand ranked 2nd in the NHL to only Shesterkin of the Rangers, with a goals saved above expected per 60 minutes of 0.603, meaning every 5 periods, he saves an extra goal for your team that normally would be expected to have scored. In other words, there is a -0.883 per 60 minutes differential between Anderson and Comrie which should make it very clear who the goalie should be for this team. UPL only played in 9 games, but he ranked 37th, not great but clearly better than Anderson at -0.048, which is almost neutral. UPL's major issue is rebound control which he is among the worst in the NHL at coming in at 4th worst in the NHL out of 76 qualifiers with at least 9 games played. He actually had the lowest expected rebounds per save last year in the NHL, but gave up the 24th most rebounds per save.
  23. Interesting there are people who with their bold predictions think the Red Wings or Senators will make the playoffs, two teams that finished lower than the Sabres in the standings(granted only by 1 and 2 points), but none say the Sabres. I don't see either of those teams being better than us this year. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bold-predictions-awards-and-stanley-cup-picks-for-the-2022-23-nhl-season-134706116.html
