  1. atlanta is just a crappy sports town unless the sport is college football. How many times did the Braves make the playoffs and have their stands unfilled also?
  2. David Bowie's version of that song, along with George Michael's ultra-gay rendition of "Last Christmas I gave you my heart", take the top 2 on my list of "Gay Christmas songs" I mean the thought of George Michael's whispering "Merry Christmas" in another man's ear is enough to make me forcefully vomit...
  3. give me back that fillet of fish....give me that fish..... give me back that fillet of fish...give me that fish... What if it were you hanging up on this wall... What if it was in that sandwich, you wouldn't be laughing at all!!
  4. He listed his favorite player as Cam Neely and his favorite website as dropyourgloves.com I don't think he has the kind of makeup that would lead to this...
  5. Wow....I cannot believe we finally drafted this kinda guy... Thank God...many of the scouts said he is a Milan Lucic type player, but he is ahead of where Lucic was at his age... sounds like a great pick for the Sabres...
  6. I come from the land down under... where woman blow and men plunder wonder what that's in reference to?!? <_<
  7. Man that was quite a ride! That reminded me a little of what we all loved earlier in the year---no matter how, just find a way to win it...that PK in OT was unbelievable---players throwing themselves all over the place trying to block shots and get the puck out---that was a horrible play by Spacek to give them the PP, but that's another story... Looks like the key to them finding a way to win is just giving effort--they were all over Vancouver in the 3rd period... Overall nice game, they definitely could have won by a lot more with all the chances they had...
  8. How the f**k was that a goal by Chicago?? The Sabres player had his stick directly behind the goalline and the puck was nowhere to be seen in the net---it obviously was under Miller and Miller was not in the net... The NHL looks at obvious goals for 5 minutes and they take 10 seconds on that one?? What the heck is that about?
  9. Buffalo is just dominating this game---Chicago hasn't had but 1 or 2 good chances...
  10. Man, I loved when Vanek scored tonite and he literally leapt into Afinigenov's arms...that says EVERYTHING about why this team is so good...
  11. I think it says that the only people that can beat the Sabres are on the same team. When they play like they think they can show up and win, like the opponent is just going to bow down before their greatness, then they get into trouble. If they come out and play like they need to, I can't honestly see a team that will beat them...and that includes Anaheim
  12. Sabres impressed with their own talents too much again tonite---must have got an inflated opinion of themselves after the game in Nashville.... This team has got to stop thinking they can just show up and win the game and actually play hard every night...
  13. I honestly can't see how they could lose to these guys---I mean even when the Blues work hard they are just dreadful... this is what a bad team looks like...
  14. Yeah, even if they were basically meaningless goals, it was still good to see them get some scoring chances... I thought Max had 2 sure goals on one of the earlier PP's, and he missed a wide open net once and then rang it off the post the second time off a great feed by Drury...
  15. Now this is Sabres Hockey----and as good as Nashville is, they are making a huge mistake trying to skate with Buffalo----I don't care who it is, when Buffalo skates and the other team skates, this is what usually happens...
  16. Whats scary is that the team will STILL win 7 out of 10 games playing this way...
  17. Man, we love doing things the hard way I guess.... At the end of the night, a win is a win...
  18. Well, he did make few nice rushes into the zone, including the one that led directly to Novotny's goal. However, I can't help but thinking that it might have been some tongue in cheek from the Montreal media... Afinigenov had an absolutely horrible giveaway in the zone when he was on the boards halfway up our zone and passed into the middle of the ice, directly to a Montreal player who ended up with a 2 on 0 on Miller, and then Afinigenov had to take him down with a hook to basically save a goal, which Montreal quickly turned into a goal after Ryder pounced on a loose rebound. It was good to see that Afinigenov was giving himself a verbal tongue lashing as he skated out of the box towards the Buffalo bench after the goal... Perhaps they thought Max figured prominently in the first 2 goals of the game---- One for Buffalo and then one for Montreal.... hahahaah
  19. Well, honestly the Lightning are one team that I absolutely have no worries about regardless of what is going on in the game, because they are a team that simply does not like working. No matter how hard Buffalo works, Tampa Bay never seems to figure out that is what keeps getting them beat against us over and over again. Against Tampa Bay I feel completely confident that we are going to win, and never feel nervoud if they score to make things close...not sure why, other than the aforementioned poor work ethic that seems to really show up when Buffalo gets a lead in the games...
  20. I thought they said before the game that Spacek just wasn't able to get his skate on comfortably tonight to play. They made it seem like Spacek was expecting to play all the way up until warmups, but couldnt' go tonite. If so, it would have been impossible for them to call up someone with so little time before the game. Also, if Spacek is only expected to miss the one game, perhaps they didn't feel like it was worth calling Funk back up, especially since he usually only plays 2-3 minutes per night anyways, and many times not even a full minute....
  21. Hehe, that will pad the shorthanded goal stats for us---2 in less than a minute :P Miller was absolutely huge in this game, making big save after big save in the later parts of the 3rd period...
  22. Man, I thought the Hurricanes game was awesome, but this was even more unbelievable---it looked like they were down and out after taking a parade to the penalty box late in the 3rd period and then the Canadiens made it 4-2...after Briere scored to make it 4-3, I thought here they go, and sure enough, Afinegenov tied it up with under 15 seconds left, then they win in OT... Looks like we can expect more of the same from last year!!
  23. Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the game today, I had to listen on the radio, and it sounded like a really good, close game with a lot of chances both ways... Typically, the Sabres found a way to win, which is good to see that part of their game carryover from last season... 18 penalties really seemed like alot, and it seemed every little infraction was being called...was it really this way, or did it just seem like it? Either way, I'll take it, and we can look forward to the home opener now...
  24. We are playing the perfect game against Ottawa so far... I don't even remember a real quality chance for the Sens, other than the Alfreddson one-timer from the slot and Heatley's shot from the slot where he didn't get much on it. Meanwhile we have a goal, 3 posts, and 2 missed one timers into an open net . MSG just reporting that we have outchanced the Sens 7-3 for the game, which seems to be frustating the heck out of Ottawa. One more period like this and we probably get a second goal on a stupid play by Ottawa where they press too hard to try and make something happen. Holding the Sens to 1 goal in 5 periods of hockey is a pretty amazing accomplishment to say the least. I think it's obvious that this is part of our game plan to basically play a trap-style and wait for them to make mistakes(which they are making a lot of). So far it's working to perfection.
  25. They failed to mention that we hardly played our best game either... Also failed that they lost because Zdeno Chara didn't feel it was necessary to hustle to the puck behind the net and Briere went right around him and shoveled it out front to Connolly and he scored to tie it with 18 seconds left. Forgot to mention the choke job on 24 who looked like he was handling a grenade.... Talent doesnt always win in the playoffs....heart and desire does...and I don't know of another team that has more of that than the Sabres...and there are no better examples of that this year than Connolly and Drury....
