Apparently 0 dollars...SMFH https://www.google.com/amp/nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/11/29/contenders-should-jump-on-sabres-offer-to-trade-evander-kane/amp/

Makes sense...the only guy who actually plays hard every night and is having a career year, has good possession numbers on an abysmal possession team...but yeah, lets trade him... SMFH... https://www.google.com/amp/nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/11/29/contenders-should-jump-on-sabres-offer-to-trade-evander-kane/amp/ UPDATE: A new report comes out that EVERYONE save for Eichel is available via trade. http://buffalohockeycentral.com/2017/12/03/everyone-available-except-eichel/

Yeah I know...ive been saying it for 18 years with the Bills and 7 going on 8 with the Sabres...next year never seems to come. Besides we will never get the #1 pick..some team that finishes 8th or 9th and had a singular bad year after 4 or 5 years of playoff appearences will get it

Another game another offensive performance where the team acts like its allergic to scoring goals. For Christ's sake its not the coaches its these bums on this team...sick of watching them and hearing their lame ass excuses every night...JBots needs to start moving players..its never going to change with this group. Meanwhile a team of mostly castoffs and never has beens that hasnt ever played with each other before a few months ago is well ahead of them in the standings and leading their division(Las Vegas)...they should be ashamed of themselves

Griffith waived....that's the move you make---seriously?
matter2003 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah that's my point...we have all these "NHL" players who are doing nothing too...do something about them. -
This team is a relative dumpster fire and the move you make is waiving Griffith?? Guess Botterill and Housley are just tossing in the towel and trying to get the unexpected #1 pick again...
-
Played their best game of the year coming out of that team meeting...now if they simply connect the dots and realize playing like that every night will put them into position to win a lot more games we will be good...

Something Housley should try regarding accountability

It's the difference between players who strive for greatness and players who accept mediocrity -
This team finds so many ways to lose, it's astonishing

PP is not going to come alive, he basically took the #1 powerplay last year and changed how they fundamentally operate, which is retarded. As a new coach you don't force your system in places where the status quo is giving surperior results, you integrate with it. Their piss poor new style PP has cost them a lot of games this year in and of itself whether that is through giving up short handed goals or not scoring themsevles. -

Oh well. Take their marshmallow soft mindset and leave then. Not like they are doing anything as it is. -

How would you lose the room by rewarding players who play well and calling out players who play poorly? By the players themselves. If these players are that mentally weak then they need to be elsewhere. -
I'm at a loss for what the issue is on this team but if I were the coach I would try the following. After every win the players vote on the top 3 players of the game and after every loss, the bottom 3 players of the game. Not a secret vote...they have to do it out loud in front of the dressing room. No hiding or secret agendas here. It would force them to hold each other accountable...nobody is going to want to constantly get called out in front of the team. The top 3 get the next practice off after a win. After a loss, the bottom 3 dont get to practice and instead have to help the equipment and laundry guys during practice and then after practice they have to come out and do bag skates for an hour. I think after a few weeks of this there would be a pretty drastic change as good players get rewarded and bad players get punished. Nobody would want to end up in the bottom 3 doing Sorry and sweaty laundry and sharpening skates. Everyone would want the day off...

Its inexcusable the team as currently built basically peaked Eichel and Rheinharts rookie years and has been swirling down the toilet bowl ever since...they should be getting better but they are getting worse... Its head scratching and really indefensible...almost like they just concede whenever they get down a goal and then they'll get a lucky bounce to score down 4-1 in the third and then try and tie it and often come close... If they just played that way in the first period they wouldn't find themselves down so much. Is it just me or does this team look like it has to work inordinately hard just to get out of their own zone? I mean they spend a LOT of energy just trying to clear the pick most nights...too many times they have an easy chance to get the puck out and it doesn't get out...its embarrassing when other teams make a pass or two and are coming back at us... The longer the losing keeps happening the further away he gets from it....its like a festering wound...it has to be treated quickly before it starts spreading
-
One night its they can't score...well most nights Then it's their goaltending the next night. The defense playing terrible another... Then taking too many penalties another... Then turning the puck over constantly another... I just dont get how this team finds so many different ways to lose. Its mind bending to me... How has this team seemingly peaked Eichel and Rheinharts rookie years and seems to be swirling the toilet bowl further and further each successive year?? I dont get it...they should be better but they suck. In every way possible
-
Guess we have a good shot at the number 1 overall pick....who's it gonna be?
-
How does this type of dumb stuff constantly happen to us but not for the teams we play?
-
I have no idea WHY a coach would change the style of PP when we were the #1 PP in the league last year. Hey, I get it if we had bad results and he came in with a new idea and way of doing things...but if our way was obviously better than the new way by the results we got, why wouldn't you leave it in place? I mean what, he wanted to improve the PP from 25% to 30%?? Sometimes you just have to realize when the way someone else does things might be better than your way and you learn from it, and incorporate it not try and change it to fit your way.

Why does this team need to find itself down 3 goals in the 3rd period before they come to play?? Twice now in the last 3 games... -

Honest to God this team looks clueless 90% of the time... just stand around and don't bother taking out a player near the puck -
They make errors from start to finish most games...the little things that they can't even do right are what are really killing them...when was the last time you saw a quality tape to tape pass from the D coming out of their zone? Time and time again you see the forwards having to slam on the brakes and turn around to get the puck allowing the other team to basically smack them into the boards and take the puck away in the neutral zone, or at best, only allow the forward to dump the puck in instead of actually maybe making something happen if it was simply a quality pass where he could take it in stride and keep skating forward. It's like EJ was in football...was the pass complete? Sure...the guy dove and caught the pass for a 4 yard gain with nobody around them...problem is, if the pass would have simply been a basic pass every QB in the league makes, it would have hit him in stride and he would have gained 10 or 15 yards and gotten a first down...same concept...the team looks completely disjointed because they have no flow to the game. They have no flow to the game because their passes are all over the place and not where they need to be, even when they complete the pass to the forward.
-
Right...I'm sure the Vegas Golden Knights have more talent than us. No...this team has enough quality players they should be a fringe playoff team, not once again sitting at or near the bottom.
-
Watching this team is like listening to someone scrape nails on a chalkboard. Nothing comes easy. Making a simple crisp tape to tape pass is near impossible. The puck ends up behind where the player has to stop and turn around, or misses him or goes directly to the other team. I mean this is getting really painful to watch how bad this team is at simple fundamental plays that other teams make in their sleep without thinking about. If I was Housley I would make practice just about fundamentals until they started doing them properly in the game and tell them they havent earned the right to practice anything else yet. You want to not be able to do stuff that you learn in Pre-Wee hockey? Fine we will practice like we are in Pre-Wee hockey. You make a bad pass? Cool. You sit there and watch while every other player skates a lap. Because at this point nothing else really matters until they can start doing fundamental things right. They give themselves no chances in these games playing the way they are right now.

Housley with some really strong words postgame

How? Is he is supposed to force the players to stay and watch film until 2am? Apparently the same guys have been problems for 3 or 4 coaches now -

Well I think it would be obvious the players would have heard it directly from the coach after the game and probably a lot more harshly than his media comments
