Fleury is not a great player...he is average at best. Who cares if he is a #1 pick, he definitely hasn't lived up to it.

I'm not sure you can say they have had a lot of games they should have won when they are giving up the most shots in the NHL, are the 2nd worst puck possession team in the NHL, and routinely look like they are a high school team chasing around a pro team in their own zone. Their defense is atrocious. They still leave players wide open in the slot and rarely cover the 3rd guy trailing into the zone. Their Penalty Kill is abysmal. They look like they have learned absolutely nothing about play in their own zone all season long and look like they have been regressing even from that piss poor standard the last 3 weeks. This team is a dumpster fire that doesn't respect their coach and his style. Bylsma needs to get canned, he has not made anyone better, he has made them worse.

This team is fvcking trash under Bylsma...its embarrassing...getting outshot like they are Latvia playing Canada half the games...gimme a break. There is no valid reason this team should be THAT bad.

According to people very close to the team I am not, and it started early on last year...Paul Hamilton, Sabres beat reporter, said pretty much its one of two things...either they don't want to play his system or Bylsma is asking them to do things they cannot do or cannot figure out how to do. People in Pittsburgh said it's pretty much the exact same thing that happened there---the star players didn't like his system or coaching style or whatever...you CANNOT succeed as a coach when you alienate your best players, doesn't matter who is right. Talent still wins games at the end of the day. Either way, this appears headed for a messy divorce this offseason.

Eichel is turning into an elite player right before our eyes....leading the NHL in scoring since February 1st...averaging a point a game...starting to make people look silly multiple times a game now, especially when he has the puck on the power play and just holds it while drawing 2 or 3 guys to him and then finds the wide open guy for an easy goal...he is turning into everything we hoped he would be and I can't wait to see what is in store next year...

His players are tuning him out, it won't matter how good his roster is.

Sabres are also 8th in goals scored since he returned after being dead last without him. Listening to some NHL guy's analytics for Eichel, he is 3rd in some points per 20 or something like that(can't remember exactly), he leads the NHL in times per game he carries the puck out of the defensive zone, and leads the NHL in times per game he carries it into the offensive zone. Basically the NHL guy said people just don't realize how great he is yet but they are starting to come around...said his analytics rank McDavid and Eichel as a near coin flip right now in terms of who is better...

Lehner has been flat out terrible in most of the last 5 games save for Tampa Bay, where he was just terrible in the shootout as usual...4+ goals on most nights...save percentage down to.922 falling from 4th to 9th...he keeps this up he'll be down to 15th or so in no time...

Then Jack comes back and scored twice...for a 3 point night...Apparently he is the only one who showed up tonight

Why do we have one of the best PP units in the NHL? Because Jack is so calm with the puck..2 or 3 defenders come at him...no problem..stay calm, protect the puck and find the wide open guy and then start the tic tac toe passing for a goal...it's night and day when he has the puck on the PP versus someone else Imagine if we weren't running around in our own zone for 2/3 of the time he is on the ice how many points he would have?? Dude is a magician with the puck

I'm not the biggest Kulikov fan but even I'll admit the guy hasn't probably even played a game at close to 100% this year with his back injury in the pre-season

Matthews has almost no assists

Me too...he isn't the 35-40 goal scorer he was once but he's good for 20...has 38 points in 47 games this year...could have used that when Eichel was hurt for 20 games...

Thomas Vanek...but Vanek was better than Rheinhart

Sabres look dead tired...even if they were playing their best not sure it would matter, but they are simply being outclassed tonight.
