We all know that no win really counts because the Sabres suck...what's your reasoning that this one doesn't count? I'm going with Vancouver didn't really care about winning.

So they decline to be on WGR but then start an unpaid podcast? I don't get the angle

Sometimes goalies take some time to develop. Sometimes they come in as rookies and look great like Carter Hart and then fall off again... Maybe UPL needs time and will be good maybe he won't. Right now he is still very young and figuring things out.

Guess we will find out. The bar is pretty low.

If he was smart he would have...honestly didn't even have to be smart to do it...just not brain dead. They methodically built something that was even in worse shape than the Sabres having missed the playoffs for 17 straight years... And the first step was to get the wrong people off the bus. That's the first step of ANY successful rebuilding process...you can't allow poison to remain and spread to the other players who want to do what's right.

And accountability...both were something sorely lacking under Eichel. I am on record saying this team will likely finish with more points than any team he was on did.

I mean I am not expecting them to make the playoffs this year...I simply don't think they are going to be as bad as many would lead you to believe.

I mean when the coach benches you and then doesn't give you clear reasonings as to why or what the issues you need to work on are to get more playing time, I'm not sure anyone would be happy.

We've been dealing with this for a decade. At this point, they need to start winning and trust me they'll be back...

And we slapped the Stanley Cup finalists...clearly we are not that talented but it just shows what is possible with this style of play on a given night... You realize Montreal was in the Cup finals last year right? And you are right...they still need to continue to play like this for a while before it's become the norm, but I get the sense they enjoy playing this style of game and that wasn't always true in the past...

But way faster

Angrily stopping practice doesn't mean they actually corrected what was going wrong.

I did...and I watched Las Vegas outwork all of them and they stood out head and shoulders above the other teams. Teams do work hard...but they don't do it every shift every night. Las Vegas did. And it was noticeable.

They might not have as many quality players but just the way they play relentlessly and with speed...I remember watching Las Vegas play their first year and kept thinking how they always were harassing the other team almost immediately once they got the puck and swarmed them in the neutral zone, getting constant turnovers... If they keep playing like this, they are going to be a lot better than people think. They have a lot of speed and if this relentlessness becomes a constant part of their game, that will make up for a lot of talent disparity. Not a lot of teams are willing to play that way night in night out...they will simply get teams that just don't want to have to deal with that on a given night and basically concede the game to them.

This team might deserve the fan support more than any other team over the last decade. They put in the work, are fun to watch and losses won't be for lack of effort. That being said, I think there might be less losses than people think. I don't think we are making the playoffs or anything but I wouldn't be surprised to see them end up with more points than any of Eichel's teams.

I kinda like how this team has been playing. I know it's going to be a rough season most likely, but I think they may not be as bad as many thought.

It's only one game but if they play like that all season they are going to win more games than people think. That was impressive.

And do what? He can't play yet....his neck issue remains unresolved. That being said, he has about 10 million reasons to show up.

Closest thing would be a goalie who steals games even when they are badly out played/out shot but the other team just can't score. Kinda like when Hasek was here many times. They need time but they also have to be the right combination. Giving time to people who can't work together properly or who aren't good at their jobs doesn't do much.
