  1. Who cares about 5th and 6th round picks that we would have gotten for pending UFA's. They amount to nothing in the NHL in 99% of cases...might as well be looking for a needle in the haystack with them. Tired of this team always running for the hills and dumping players. Maybe a team that acts like it actually is trying to win will inspire some confidence ion the players for once that the organization is trying to actually win games and not just accumulate meaningless mid late round picks.
  2. I have no idea how he is playing with an intercostal muscle strain if that is indeed the case...I ended up going to the ER for it due to using crutches for about 3 weeks and it was so bad that I couldn't even hardly take a breath....it was the only time in my life that I thought about whether it would be better just not to breathe anymore. We still seem to let in a bad or crazy goal every game...I have often wondered how is it teams always seem to score goals against the Sabres that bounce off a player in front, or get some crazy bounce that the Sabres themselves never seem to score?
  3. For as talented as Eichel is he sucks at shootouts, basically blasting the puck i to the goalie... The best I have ever seen was Kotalik with that unstoppable backhand move...everyone knew it was coming and they still couldn't stop it.
  4. Reinhart with the "lets get out of here and go to the club" lackluster attempt...SMFH
  5. It's so strange how a player who is only 31 has turned into a shell of himself a year after scoring 17 goals and 2 years after scoring 24, the last of 5 straight 20+ goal seasons that included 2 30+ goal seasons as well... plenty of players play well into their 30's and maintain good production---maybe not at their prime levels of their mid 20's but not "fall off a cliff" production either. Kind of the same thing that happened with Okposo, except it happened to him a year earlier.
  6. I know he is dealing with some sort of injury and hasn't gotten a point in six games. What was once a shoe in for a 100 point season has now become a question of whether he will even be able to hit 90 points this year...
  7. This team has checked out for the season. Again. I mean no but probably there are better times than when you just clawed your way back to a 1 goal deficit.
  8. Does any team allow more absolute garbage goals than this one? Always at the wrong time too....
  9. Honestly now that we see what has happened since him, was Darcy Regier such a bad GM? I almost would say think about bringing him back at this point. I am kind of with you...on the balance he did a very good job here for a long time. Towards the end when things needed a reboot, partially because Golisano wouldn't spend to keep Drury and Briere it got rough, but we made the playoffs a LOT while he was here...8 times in 15 full seasons and we finished above 90 points 8 times and 100 or more 3 times...far better than the total number of appearances since he has left which has been 0 and the number of 90+ point seasons we have had which also have been 0.
  10. Looks like Phoenix will too...maybe as early as this year thanks to a really weak Western Conference
  11. Ok, and we have Eichel, Reinhart, Dahlin, Cozens, and Oloffson...plus a few more I am not thinking of....so what?
  12. Does it matter tho? As soon as they hit their second contract they will get traded because the owner won't pay them Banging the secretary just isn't acceptable anymore...err...sorry...administrative assistant.
  13. Stats show the opposite offensively...he averaged 0.54 points per game last year and he is averaging 0.66 points per game this year. Not a huge improvement, but still an improvement. He also is averaging a little under 2 minutes less per game of ice time too.
  14. If you think the Sabres are bad...the Sens continue to show they are simply a tire fire... The new CEO was hired after an extensive search so he could lead the team for the next decade according to the Sens owners but he lasted only 2 months haha https://sports.yahoo.com/senators-fire-ceo-they-just-hired-8-weeks-ago-154711468.html
  15. I don't buy it...Botterill has not been acting like a person trying to save his job, he has been acting like a person who knows he is being given time to implement his plan. Whether it works or not is a different question.
  16. How do you keep fans from selling their tickets? Easy. Make them want to go to the games by putting a good product on ice that makes the playoffs for once in the last 10 years. JFC, had to endure the longest playoff drought in the NFL with the Bills and now having to endure the longest playoff drought in the NHL with the Sabres...WTF!
  17. I have several that I can't decide between... 1) Hannan's 4OT goal against NJ to give the Sabres the 1-0 victory -- "This series is going back to where Jimmy Hoffa is" as Lorentz lets out a surprised little giggle 2) Jason Wooley's OT goal in the 1st game of the Stanley Cup Finals..."Jason Wooley!! Jason Wooley!! The shot heard round the world! The shot heard round the world!!" 3) Brad May's OT winner to beat Boston---"May Day! May Day! Brad May!!" 4) Pominville's game winner in OT against the Sens to sweep the series---"Now do you believe?!? Now do you believe?!?!? These guys are good...scary good!!" 5) Drury's goal to send the Sabres into OT with 7 seconds left against the Rangers combined with the shots of thousands of Party in the Plaza people going nuts... "The score!!!!!!!!! Buffalo Scores!!!! Chris Druuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuury!!! Who else!?!? Who else?!? Chris Druuuuryy has tied it at 1 with 7 seconds left!" And the ref pointing to the back of the net emphatically like 15 times while skating over there and then... 6) Afinigenov's subsequent goal in OT of the Rangers game to give the Sabres the come from behind win... "Maxim Afinigenov!! Blooooooooowwwssss it by Lundquist!! Maxim Afinigenov!! Gives Buffalo the win in OOOOOVVVEEEEEEEERTIMEEE!" And obviously any number of the La-La-La-La-LaFontaine calls were awesome
  18. It was discussed on WGR that Tallon might be old school and believes that you don"t trade good players within the division.
  19. Maybe, but Toronto is not on a 94 point pace playing the way they did the last 10 games...they are on an 87 or 88 points pace....if that continues the Sabres have a chance. Their defense and goaltending is atrocious...they can score with anyone but they have to win games 6-5. Same with Florida who has allowed even more goals than Toronto... The only 2 teams that have allowed more goals than Toronto and Florida in the NHL are the Devils and the RedWings, two of the worst teams in the league. No team is ever out of the game against either of them... Honestly they are almost the exact same team...Toronto has 220 goals for and 210 against in 63 games and Florida has 217 goals for and 212 against in 62 games.
  20. Simple...they are only 4 and 6 points back of those teams not 12 points back like they are of the Metropolitan teams. Simple math.
  21. Far be it from me to predict this will happen, but both Florida and Toronto have been pretty bad lately, and the Sabres have closed to within 6 points of the Leafs for the final playoff spot with a game in hand, that could make it 4 points if they win that. Part of the issue people had was looking at last month in regards to their playoff chances were all the teams they would have to leapfrog for the wildcard spots, but that is a pipe dream right now as there is no way they are catching any of those teams or leapfrogging that many in the Metropolitan division. However, with Toronto and Florida struggling and the Sabres finally surging a little bit, it has brought them to within realistic striking distance of the 3rd divisional playoff spot in the Atlantic, something nobody could have predicted when the season started, and not that hard to imagine them leapfrogging 2 teams instead of 5 or 6. I don't think anyone thought the Sabres would have a better shot at making the playoffs by finishing 3rd in the division versus getting in as a wildcard. That being said, do you think the Sabres make this last month and a half of hockey interesting down to the wire or do they fade away into the abyss at some point again?
  22. Sheary reminded me of a much less productive Afinigenov. Like Maxim, he would often skate really fast with the puck but end up doing absolutely nothing and you would scratch your head many times wondering what he was thinking...at least Afinigenov had 3 20 goal seasons and a couple of years with 60-70+ points... Also, just saw Afinigenov is STILL playing in the KHL...has scored 8 goals with the Moscow Dynamo this year in 37 games at age 40...
  23. Basically this guy is another Kyle Okposo that can hit... He has 8 goals and 24 points in 61 games...kind of the same stat production per game Okposo has put up in 45 games...
