...I'm kinda rooting for Tippett now :nana: Of the players you listed, I'd be really surprised if Glass or Mittelstadt is actually there. Shocked in the case of Glass, really. Choice will probably be Liljegren, Tippett, or Valimaki. I think I take them in that order. Not saying I'd take him at 8, but what do you think about Suzuki? I'm increasingly intrigued.

Executive summary: 1) Don't like his on-ice fit with our best players 2) Don't like investing money/term in non-elite wingers with an injury history (especially with Okposo signed already on said contract) 3) There's a price I have I'd like to keep him at. I anticipate his ask exceeds this substantially. If I could get him for about his current cap hit for 5 years, I do it. I expect there's NFW this happens. I simply don't think he's worth an Okposo/Lucic $6Mx7 contract--I think I can get enough of his production from younger and cheaper pieces to not invest.

That's it, the Owen Tippett hate has gone too far! He's not my pick (that'd be Liljegren, or Mittelstadt if he's unexpectedly there), but in a draft without a slam dunk at all, let alone at #8, there's value in taking a great skater with the best shot. I know he doesn't play the style that many around here gravitate towards, but it'd be far from a bad pick.

Even in a draft without a surefire stud, nobody is trading out of the #1 spot. Every year we hear some variant of "fielding offers" and nothing ever comes to fruition.

I don't see how we come out ahead in any ROR trade. I'm one of Reinhart's biggest boosters, but he's nowhere near ready to handle the minutes O'Reilly eats. It's not just robbing Peter to pay Paul, but it's burning Peter's house down on top of it.

Johansen for Jones. I don't think we see more of these deals because there are rarely teams with excess centers and excess defensemen to trade.

I think he's a more versatile player and can have a role with skilled linemates, whereas Foligno is purely a checker who is a drag on more talented teammates.

That'd make me feel a lot better about dropping 6-8, since it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I also wonder if this would put the kibosh to Vegas' attempted trade up. Philly may have been okay trading away from Patrick, but maybe Hischier being available changes that.
