  1. It's funny because it's true. The best part is I'll be close enough where I can take a day trip to decorate Freeman's lawn with "tanking is winning" signs.
  2. Not sure why you'd want to associate yourself with that particular poster.
  3. Housley hasn't done anything to impress me. Additionally, Bylsma may have coached a system that masked weaknesses. But that doesn't change the fact that the way Bylsma coached was not conducive to the current NHL. Again, Bylsma sucking was no guarantee that his replacement would be good.
  4. This is where I'm at. I maintain that (perhaps subconsciously) people want it to be a mental/chemistry issue because it's a heck of a lot easier to swap out a couple pieces than it is to add six major parts. The need to add many significant cogs indicates a longer time line to competitive hockey than a quick culture change. The team stinks. The team doesn't stink because it's unhappy; it's unhappy because it stinks. Edit: this team needs two top-pair defensemen, two top-6 wingers, a goalie, and a 3C.
  5. Landed a summer internship at Stony Brook University.
  6. There is nothing I hate more than people talking on bluetooth devices in public. At least with the physical phone out I can tell they're not talking to me.
  7. The way McCabe has played this year, making him play through it would be the tanking move. Joking aside, would you want his recovery to stretch into October just for the sake of making him finish the season? Getting it done now is likely the best move for Jake anyway.
  8. Which is fine. Or, at least, nothing worth going "woe is Buffalo" over. Separately, Wayne Simmonds is out 2-3 weeks. Paging Ron Hextall. Can I interest you in one Kyle Okposo on a bloated contract? No? Okay, fine, Kane.
  9. Has the fan base really hit such a low point that we're actually mad about a 4th round pick? Holy smokes.
  10. Keep in mind, that 3rd in 2019 is conditional upon Mrazek re-signing, which is far from a certainty.
  11. Whoa whoa whoa now. I get the accuracy concerns, but this is not true. One of the reasons I bristle at him being called a "running quarterback" is because he does a great job at keeping his eyes up while improvising behind the line. It was an issue in his first year as a starter, but he showed tremendous development in this area.
  12. Well yea, there is no golden goose for QB projections. And even with strongly correlated stats, there are going to be exceptions.
  13. I wouldn't say it's useless. For example, some drops might be due to WRs failing at the catch point, and obviously those aren't on the QB. On the other hand, some drops are surely do to ball placement, which is on the QB. On the flip side, some WRs will catch balls that are thrown inaccurately. If you accept that a chunk of this stuff will wash out over time and distances (sort of like good/bad penalty calls...), then it's still a piece of the puzzle to look at. Y/A is actually one of my favorite stats in the NFL, but it is harder to evaluate in college because of system and competition diversity. I still think it's useful, but like any stat, should not be taken as truth in a vacuum.
  14. They are. This is what I was getting at though. I know what I want exists for the NFL, but I honestly have no idea if it does for college.
  15. Do air yards get tracked for college players? Or ANY/A?
  16. Derrik Klassen‏ @QBKlass 15h15 hours ago More Out of J. Allen, Darnold, Falk, Ferguson, Jackson, Mayfield, Rosen, Rudolph, and White (nine QBs in total), which two would you guess were the least accurate beyond 20 yards in my charting? Derrik Klassen‏ @QBKlass 15h15 hours ago More Answers: Darnold and Rosen. Allen/Falk were good guesses, they are very close to the bottom. Derrik Klassen‏ @QBKlass 15h15 hours ago More Jackson is a fine deep passer, honestly. The high/low extremes of his ball placement down the field makes for a weird eval. Plenty capable, you are just going to be really mad with some of the misses. Derrik Klassen‏ @QBKlass 14h14 hours ago More Derrik Klassen Retweeted Seth Murphy Jackson is middle-of-the-pack for 11-15 and 16-20, just like 20+. 1-5 is his worst area, relative to the other QBs. 6-10 his best; one of the top QBs there.
  17. Do you really like Darnold that much? Guy is super raw and a turnover machine, with the worst throwing motion I've seen since Byron Leftwich.
  18. I think most of us do. Just not sure it's feasible to move high enough to draft him. To be fair, I don't think most of us love Jackson in an absolute sense (okay, I kinda do, but I'd still take Rosen or Mayfield over him); it's mostly about options under the assumption we can't get Rosen, Mayfield, or Darnold (whom I don't want anyway). Rosen Mayfield Jackson Darnold Rudolph Allen That's my list.
  19. I figure it's appropriate to let Harrington be the killjoy: Mike Harrington‏Verified account @ByMHarrington 4m4 minutes agoMore #Sabres recall Ullmark and list Lehner day to day with lower body injury in weekly injury report.
  20. I just got hit on by a gay guy (not that there's anything wrong with that) in an Auston Matthews jersey.
  21. I'm honestly surprised it took this long. They've been bleeding money for years.
  22. My had has officially exploded. Have a good night.
  23. You're really giving meaning to your name with this debate. The way the game is played is radically different than it was in the 80s and 90s, and it shows in the results: across the league yards, attempts, completions, and touchdowns are up, while interceptions are down. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/era-adjusted-passing-leaders
  24. I do what I want! :p Anyway, I agree that going on a run would be more likely to indicate real progress than continuing to stink. I'd rather win out than lose out. I just don't think it inherently means there is progress, nor do I believe there is some intrinsic force of nature that makes wins snowball into more wins. Winning begets winning to the extent the winning is grounded in real progress. But winning can also be a mirage...in such cases, winning begets nothing. And in the case of Ottawa thinking it's better than it is, all winning begat was an ill-advised trade to sidegrade Turris to Duchene. Fair enough, but winning without those first two components is nothing more than fool's gold.
