  1. If I were a team, I'd never send anyone to a QB's pro day unless they were coming off a major injury and I wanted to get a better look at his recovery. There is nothing to gain from watching these guys throw in shorts to receivers against air. I think I hate you more than Brad Marchand.
  2. I just think the whole "sit a year then play" is a pretty antiquated notion that was applicable in a different era of football. Offensive coaches are better than ever at coaching to their players, and college concepts are prevalent throughout the league. The adjustment simply isn't what it used to be. In some ways I think delaying starting only slows down development; there is only so much you can learn about NFL defenses without seeing them in game action. Agreed.
  3. I just completely disagree with this. Even if McCarron starts, he probably holds off the rookie for what, 3 games? It's just not worth the role of the dice for someone you ultimately want on the bench. Get the established backup who you know can do the job and will be happy enough doing it, and let the kid you draft play. Do you really think Rosen or Mayfield have to sit a full season? I sure don't.
  4. Is he? Do we have any evidence for this whatsoever? He has 3 starts in his career, and they were all in 2015. He was a 5th round pick with no pedigree to speak of. His primary job in college was letting Alabama's defense win games. I'm just not seeing it.
  5. I believe in Samson. But I also think there are enough questions about just what his ceiling ends up being that a bridge contract makes the most sense. 3 years $12M or so works for me.
  6. I used to think this, but I'm just not so sure anymore. These days I'm more of the mind that someone who gets ruined by starting too soon probably wasn't going to be good anyway, and the good ones will figure it out. If I had a dollar for every time I heard Deshaun Watson would have to sit for 1-2 years....Dak Prescott was going to need development time...and so on. Jared Goff didn't look like an NFL player. Gets a good coach, and now he's a legit starter. His early experience didn't ruin him. I'm too lazy to look for more examples, but do a cursory scan of the league and tell me how many of the top-10 QBs sat for any meaningful length of time. It's easier than ever to play QB in this league: you take fewer hits, defenders can't breath on receivers, offenses are spreading it out, and so on. Especially if we get Rosen or Mayfield, I don't see what they'd gain by sitting. I ask again: what is it that people see in McCarron? I'm fine with him as a backup, but u really never want to see him play.
  7. The plan is to start the rookie. We're not trading into the top-5 to draft someone to sit a season behind Joe Journeyman.
  8. What does anybody see in AJ McCarron? Seriously, he wasn't very good in college, and has started like 3 seconds of football in the NFL.
  9. If it's true can we just lock this thread and make Sabrespace Bills talk go the way of politics talk?
  10. I like Lotulelei and he fills a need, but he's also on the downside. Will be curious to see the numbers.
  11. I'm confused. Are you saying Wentz and Trubisky were clearly better prospects than anyone in this draft?
  12. Props for the Zay Jones quip
  13. We should probably see the actual trad first before declaring this, no? And FWIW, I'd take any of the top-6 over draft-year Blaine Gabbert (I still can't believe a team talked themselves into him...he was Josh Allen without the physical tools). Furthermore, I don't think "QBs in the Super Bowl" is the right measure. How about percentage of QBs to win a playoff game? I do believe that the lack of a franchise QB for so long, combined with watching Brady own the division, has caused many (if not most) Bills fans to overestimate what a single player can compensate for (for example, Matt Ryan is a franchise QB, but he can't compensate for as much as Brady or Manning). But it's basically a fact that a franchise QB is the best way to consistently field a competitive team over a long period of time. Even the greatest defenses can only do it for a couple of years before the salary cap necessitates their dismantling.
  14. Well, this is probably their only kick at the can. IMO you can miss on a QB and you can trade up for a QB, but you can't do both at the same time and get a second chance.
  15. Definitely a good trade, and sets us up to make the jump for a QB. That said, I'll wait until after free agency and the draft to be overly concerned, but I am considering being worried about the offense line we're going to field in front of a rookie QB.
  16. Really sad I missed this. Didn't get out of Athens until later than I wanted :(
  17. I don't think we need to know that much about your sex life.
  18. Being terrible recently doesn't make Brodeur or Roy better than Hasek.
  19. It's not even throwing stuff at the wall. The Bills trying to trade up isn't exactly some insider secret these days.
  20. *desperately tries to prevent self from making a suspendable political joke*
  21. See, PA? Terry's not so bad after all! :p
  22. Suicide Squad at least had a few fun individual performances. I honestly and truly can't think of a single redeeming quality Iron Fist had other than it eventually ended.
  23. Iron Fist was a worse TV show than Suicide Squad was a movie.
