  1. Well, that's overstating things by an order of magnitude.
  2. I don't think there's any way Stastny signs with a non-contender for only two years. Probably looking at 4 to get him here, and I have no interest in that.
  3. Per the people that Flagg hates, Carlson staying in Washington for $8Mx8.
  4. I have no idea why you tossed those things in. It's not like we didn't try. If you're going to play the "what if" game, you should probably limit it to what we had control over. Edit: Furthermore, Compher + Zadorov > O'Reilly is a really hard sell.
  5. I know we didn't technically acquire him until Friday, but Dahlin has functionally been a Sabre for awhile now. Much of what can be talked about already was prior to the pick.
  6. Botterill didn't say he didn't want to talk with Tavares. Just that he wouldn't. It's entirely possible, and dare I say likely, that Tavares simply has no interest in coming here.
  7. My other question would be, how many coaches actually do things like curfews during the regular season? It strikes me as a very old school approach that might not be super common anymore, but I can't claim to have any actual clue.
  8. I know you appropriately warned us, but man, this is something else
  9. Because bias isn't something you can just flip on and off like a light switch when it's convenient to do so.
  10. Correct. It's probably why I like reading his stuff so much
  11. Agreed. The top end of the draft for his two drafts here arguably forced his hand, and I think his logic holds with late-round shots in the dark. But the question becomes what does he do with a mid-late 1st round pick, his 2nds, and maybe his 3rds. We haven't picked enough in those ranges to know for sure, but I have an eyebrow raised. I don't care in the slightest that he has a bias in the late rounds for picks we're unlikely to ever see in the NHL anyway. I am, however, concerned that it might also bias picks in the range where it could be foregoing talent.
  12. Did anyone actually expect to get #3? I think most are in the mindset of needing him to be pried away, which is why #3 was being talked about. The sense I get is the majority need a team to be willing to overpay to get him; that a team didn't overpay doesn't really mean we overvalue him.
  13. How does this compare to having two first names?
  14. We'll see how things play out, but Housley gave him an A to wear last season and Botterill consistently mentions him publicly. The last bit could easily just be politics, but I don't think it's a guarantee given the role Bogosian was expected to play this past season.
  15. I'll bet anything you want that Kane won't score 50.
  16. Botterill would rather not pick at all than draft a CHL player.
  17. I still think Carolina is in trouble at center, but honestly, I love their wing situation.
  18. It's funny how the organizational pendulum swings. We could easily go from having a pipeline with no defensemen to one with no forwards.
  19. *experiences movement below the waistline*
  20. Never thought I'd live to see the day that Botterill drafted a college player.
  21. I hate you.
  22. I don't think it's a given we re-sign Scandella when his current contract is up.
  23. It really depends who you think the real Robin Lehner is. If he's the guy who played last season, there is absolutely zero risk in walking away before acquiring another goalie--he was the walking definition of replacement level.
