  1. You're nuts.
  2. Maybe, maybe not. But the opportunity to hire the most recent Cup winner was most definitely not an option when we hired Housley. I think these are special circumstances. Edit: Mind you, I'm not exactly advocating for it. I just don't think there's any way we'd get slammed for doing so. Probably the harshest take would be "Housley got a raw deal, but....Cup winner."
  3. The opportunity to hire Trotz literally didn't exist until today. I don't think it's a bad look timing-wise. On the other hand, you could certainly argue firing Housley after only 1 year is a bad look. Either way, I don't think it's a circus look.
  4. They're both turds. The only difference is Graham is a turd who can write.
  5. I'm not sure this would make us look like a circus. Hiring the Cup-winning coach isn't exactly promoting Ron Rolston.
  6. Good to see the Sabres' habit of being comically out of touch has continued post-Brandon.
  7. Aaaahhhh gotcha. Read that one wrong. Carry on :)
  8. Nobody said you had to turn in your fan card.
  9. Do you think the Cavs benefitted from trading Kyrie? Or would they have been better off ignoring his request? Until it shows up in his on-ice game, I firmly believe the Sabres would be better off ignoring the trade request. That's barring a bonkers return, obviously.
  10. *raises hand* I'll gladly take Pacioretty for a rental year if the price is right. I understand he had a really bad season, but he also just had 4 straight years of scoring 30+ goals, and did so in 5 of the 6 before this season. So that's two times in 7 years he *didn't* score 30, and one of those seasons was the lockout year where he had 15 in 44 games, which easily could have been another 30 goal campaign.
  11. You read about 3 million more things into what I said than what was actually said. If we can put aside the semantics of how great he'll be, there are a lot of legitimate reasons to believe he'll be a great player for years to come. I understand not wanting to put the cart before the horse, but being optimistic in this case is not an example of irrational exuberance. This isn't like people penciling Guhle into the top-4.
  12. I'm sure the team can find someone to be mopy after losses. I'm obviously joking, but I don't doubt there are many who really do believe this to be what ROR is teaching the youngins. I definitely don't think Botterill moves O'Reilly *because of* the Canadian media, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he independently believes much of the same stuff (locker room, attitude etc.). Frankly, I think the most logical hypothesis that has been put out there is it could be O'Reilly's agent stoking the fires to push for a trade. If that's the case, I hope Botterill ignores it. "Winning solves everything" might be the truest cliché in the history of clichés. Tell the agent to suck it, build a winner with O'Reilly as a key piece, and all of the noise goes away.
  13. Hey now. Slow down. You're king of "young players get better." Galchenyuk is only 1 year older than Domi, and suddenly his potential to get better has evaporated, while Domi's is alive and well? :p I think Galchenyuk likely is what he is, but Domi hasn't given any reason to be optimistic in two seasons. I'd also note that Marc Bergevin doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt.
  14. If only there was a management tool to dump horrible contracts to prevent such a thing from happening while also not incurring future cap hits...
  15. I was young! I just assumed that high point totals meant defensive weakness. Luckily I've come a long way since those days.
  16. No, the Bogo Bunker does not welcome those who would buy him out. If there's anything worse than paying him millions of dollars to not play due to injury, it's paying him millions of dollars to play somewhere else.
  17. I want nothing to do with buying him out unless it's necessary to free up cap space for something awesome.
  18. I understand the overall sentiment, but the bolded is hogwash. Just because Karlsson doesn't clear the crease like Pronger doesn't mean he doesn't play defense. His gap control, stick work and zone exits are all terrific.
  19. Would pay to see.
  20. Man, you're delusional  Pleasant surprise doesn't even begin to describe what this happening would be.
  21. I'd be surprised if speed had any meaningful correlation to stats. For example, O'Reilly and Reinhart. And Fasching isn't slow, though I certainly won't argue the performance point. Anyway, it was probably the best asset he could get for a player who wasn't going to sign with his team.
  22. I mean, playing offensively in both ends is a form of two way play...
  23. Are you trying to send We've into cardiac arrest?
  24. There is no world in which Forsberg is better than Lidstrom.
  25. Both of which went #1 in notoriously weak draft classes. This class isn't weak, and even if it was, it would only be considered weak after Dahlin. Prospects don't get the hype Dahlin has and bust with today's scouting. Yakupov wasn't considered nearly the prospect that Dahlin is.
