This would be fun and interesting. I would add a couple rules - the last place team electing for “expansion” draft has to pick last in the entry draft, and cannot do another “expansion” draft for 10 years.

I liked what I saw from Borgen in the Amerks games I attended. Everything you’d like to see in bottom pairing defender. With the amount of D that Seattle picked, maybe he gets waived and picked back up by Buffalo. The Sabres had to lose someone, and losing him is probably better than losing Miller and a pick, or Risto for nothing.

That’s not far off from a sketch of the Buffaslug.

If the Bruins sign Hall, I guess we all know which team will be picking first overall in the 2022 draft.

Part of the agreement in buying the Sabres, was that Terry isn’t allowed to sell to someone who would move the team, IIRC.

This sounds about right. It’s not as if TG was proactively shopping the team, but I don’t think it was a secret either that he would sell them to the right person when it came along. I don’t think Terry blindly called to buy the team. IIRC, Balsillie offered something like $75 million more than TPeg did, but TG said no.

My memories could be wrong, but I thought at the time it was no secret that the Sabres were for sale, but that the only bites TG was getting were from people who would potentially move the team, and he only wanted to sell to someone who would keep them in Buffalo.

The Sabres are REALLY testing this.

If they acquired his rights, there’s no guarantees he would’ve signed with the Sabres. Also this means FLA would’ve had to expose another player, which maybe they didn’t want to do. I don’t think the Sabres can re-sign Ullmark until the 28th, but I could be wrong.
