That depends on the attitude of the players. When I played hockey, I actually liked being the underdog and playing against better teams. Maybe after years of doing it like Samson, Jack, and Risto did, it wears off.

I hope neither wins a Cup. This was the team that drafted you, developed you, put letters on your jersey. People forget that not too long ago, most players in sports spent their careers with the team that drafted them. It sucks that they are unhappy, but that’s life and relationships. Things don’t always work out the way you hoped. Doesn’t mean you just give up.

I set up the joke, and you almost nailed it. Decent job, Ink. The team would be wise to start selling RJ jerseys, with a microphone patch where the player numbers go, but they won’t do that. Skinner still on the 4th line in the future, eh?

I’m willing to bet Samson never sees a Cup, and Eichel MIGHT in the twilight of his career.

The hockey gods were angry about the team tanking to get McDavid. This happened when the Sabres played Arizona, and got booed for scoring. We were given Eichel for that.

I like some of the prospects, aside from Mitts and Quinn. Regardless, I don’t see the team winning anytime soon. It’s already been 10 years, and trading your best players to start over means another 3-5 years.

I gave up on winning a few seasons back.

Keeping Jack for this would be ideal, but it doesn’t sound like something he is interested in. Sticking around for 3 more years to see how the rest of the team develops and MIGHT contend? Don’t think he is interested in that. A real leader and captain might, but not him.

RJ is like that stuffed animal we all grew up with. We loved him, and still don’t want to let him go. I fell asleep to his voice on my clock radio so many nights in the 80’s and early 90’s. He was like a family member. I made sure to go to the game when he was inducted into the Sabres HOF, and I cried like a baby. RJ is awesome. It’s gonna suck when he’s gone, and he’s not replaceable.

Well, there ya go. You were accused of it. Doesn’t mean you did it. Just because someone makes an accusation, or writes something on the internet, doesn’t automatically make it true. You know why he was probably accused of it? Money. You were accused of stealing gum and you weren’t rich. Kane was posting pictures of money stacks. Buchnevich was traded for a plug and a 2nd. Samson was traded for a G prospect and a 1st. What was everyone expecting?

I can’t wait to see the size of the pitchforks that come out after our star is traded.

The one thing I’ll always remember about Samson, is that time he didn’t skate back hard after a long shift, and he wasn’t thrilled to be grilled about it in the post-game.

If Power was the safe pick, it’s interesting that the rest of the Sabres draft strategy seemed to be “shoot for the moon.”
