Sabres fans were spoiled to have such great goaltending back to back with Hasek and then Miller. Any goalie since them hasn’t held a candle to their predecessors, and has gotten roasted by the fans in the process. Hell, even Miller was heavily debated about on here. It sucks that a lot of us can’t appreciate any goalies we have because they aren’t the greatest goalie of all time that we were blessed to see with the Sabres. Ullmark, as an example, is a better goalie than a lot of fans realize.

How many goals do you think TT gets this season?

It’ll be mildly interesting to watch, since both Bryson and Samuelsson seem ready.

Yes. The plan is probably a savvy vet in Craig mentoring UPL, and in case UPL is completely not ready, there’s a smattering of experienced veteran goalies behind him (Dell, Toker, House). It is somewhat in line with what the team is doing with the forwards and D, so it makes sense.

I’m not implying anything other than the Sabres and Bills are in completely different stratospheres right now. The poster had said it was hard to imagine both teams having a vastly different quality of staff. I don’t find it hard to imagine when the leadership, rosters, and results are complete opposites.

Hasek doesn’t count in this case, because at the time, the Sabres weren’t trading for a franchise goalie. He ended up becoming one, unbeknownst at the time to the trade participants.

It’s not that hard to imagine. The Bills are now a Super Bowl contender. The Sabres are the complete opposite - a top overall pick contender, again.

To the bolded, it’s starting to feel that way. Feels like UPL is tentatively penciled in to be in Buffalo learning from Craig. It will be a learning and growing season for much of the roster, and I can see UPL being part of that plan.

I’ve been supporting a team that has been somewhere between bad and mediocre since the mid-80’s, aside from a couple years in the late 90’s and a couple seasons around 2006. Last season was the first time since the mid-90’s that I proactively missed games on TV. I am probably not going to watch any this season. I have other things that I’d rather invest my time, money, and emotions in for now. My Sabres basement man-cave isn’t going anywhere.
